My tears flow till I think I can't reach them. The anemone that withers, please don't forget, It'll turn into a butterfly whose colour doesn't fade and return to you someday. Sadness is erased, I want you to stay unchanged.
Another day, another chase; there was no end to the cycle now. Ever since they'd left that cat-boy, Aokei, and the rest of the strange lot behind, everything had reverted back to old times. One ran, the other always followed not long after. It was a well practiced routine that someone would have to break one day. But today was not to be that day, as she still could not find her twin. Well, to say she couldn't find her sister was a bit of a stretch: she knew Rema was hiding somewhere in this marble city, just not the exact location. Lu sighed; it was going to be yet another long 24 hours to pass.
The city was crowded - as was to be expected of a city - but she found it easier to move through so long as she stuck to the back and side-streets. Perhaps not the safest path to take, but the swiftest and most convenient. Besides, she wasn't concerned about anyone popping out and assaulting her; her self-defense was good enough to keep her relatively safe. Hell, she probably wouldn't even need that to keep would-be-attackers away, seeing as, usually, a glare could send some of the lesser-willed beings scurrying for shelter. Was her face that scary or something? As she pushed her way through the throng of people, Lu set about pondering this fact. Her sister had always told her if she didn't lighten up, one day, she'd end up with no one willing to approach her. Maybe the little nut-case was right for once...But hey, what was wrong with being alone? Nothing, absolutely nothing. Maybe some people just didn't like the company of others. Like herself. 'And yet you know that's a lie...' some little voice piped up in the back of her head. 'Being a single digit is a pain. Being lonely is a bitch though.'
So many lies, so much pain. The ringing in my ears doesn't stop, The sounds of a lonely night reside in silence. Searching for Raison d'etre*. In the blank sheet of humanity, Carrying the most richly-coloured paint, I walk.
Since when did I stop feeling anything?
So many people, so many opportunities to hide and never be found. Rema was quite pleased with how things had turned out, and was - as her twin tried to track her down - weaving her way through the many shops in the streets. This Ebernum city really was a curious place. Settled smack-dab in the middle of a series of tall mountains, how did it get contact with the rest of the world? She'd had trouble just finding it in the middle of all the snow peaks. AT first, she'd thought it was just another part of the landscape, and had it not been for the sunlight glinting off of the ivory walls, she would've passed on by without a second glance.
Rema, with her pale skin and vampire-like appearance, seemed to fit right in with the citizens. That was certainly a first, and she liked not being stared at like a freak for once. In all the past towns she'd stopped in, everyone had paused and gawked at her physic. Sure she didn't quite resemble a 'normal' human, but honestly, she still had the basic stuff right? One head, a body, a pair of arms and legs, a set of eyes, one nose and mouth, ears, etc. It was all there...at least last time she checked in a mirror they were. So unless she'd suddenly sprouts from her cranium or grown an extra eye on her forehead, she couldn't understand why other humans found her - and Lu for that matter - so strange. 'Hmph, just cuz our skin's not as dark as other people's...' she grumbled mentally. Here however, everyone looked different from everyone else, so no one payed her an extra thought. It was wonderful. And another plus was that Lu would have hell trying to find her. Humming cheerily, Rema set off to explore her new surroundings.

The wind was cold, yet it didn;'t bother the girl who sat upon a box. Her breath rose up into the air in puffs of clouds. The jacket that she normaly wore was tied around her waist, exposing her plae arms. Her red tipped hair stirred in the breeze looking as if it was on fire. In the girl's lap rested a sketch pad, a pencil in her hand drawing lightly on it. Harley took a quick glance up to see another person across the street. The other girl was older then Harley, proably by a lot. Jewlry adorned the girl as well as a look of lonlylness. Quickly, Harley begain drawing again, this time faster then before. It onyl took tow minutes before she got the other girl onto her notepad. The image she drew started moving, shoiwng the girl she had just drawn walk across the papper, every time the image 'walked' to one side of the page, it disapeared to start walking again from the other side. Harley smiled, beleiveing a master peice rested upon her lap.

She was getting the eerie feeling of being watched as she continued her walk down the street. Though this normally wouldn't have bothered her in a crowded area - one was bound to feel eyes on them when there were people left and right and centre - but this time...well, she couldn't put her finger on it, but it was bugging her. Kind of like, instead of a casual glance over, she was now the object of someone's undivided attention. Lu showed no outer signs of her suspicions, but her eyes were already sifting through the throngs, locating, then dismissing anyone who had looked her way. Finally, she managed to narrow it down to one person.
It was a surprising find; a thirteen or fourteen year old girl, clad in clothes that had definitely seen better days, barefooted, and staring at her intently from across the street. It looked like she was sketching something on a pad of paper. Lu didn't stop, but now that she'd located the target, things would be much simpler. She made sure to melt into the thickest mob possible, then took advantage of the obscurity to slide into an alley on the opposite side of the street. From there, she easily wound her way back until she reached the same place where she'd seen the younger girl earlier. 'She's not half bad at drawing.' Lu, moving as silently as usual, was commenting to herself as she watched the miniature pencil figure of herself repeatedly walk off the page on the girl's lap. So, this was the reason for the staring...but why would she bother to sketch something as drab as another person walking?

The cold wind nummbed the teen's arms as she studied her pciture. Somethign was missing. There was always somethign missing in her pics and yet, the girl never knew what excactly was missing. Miss Tanner looked up to see that the object of her picture had gone. Harley looked around, trying to locate the other girl again. However, she saw nothing. Thinking the other girl had gone inside the store, Harley went to study her drawing.
The picture seemed so...lonly. Harley picked up her pencil and started sketching again, this time she put a tree min front of the stores windows. As the sketched girl walked, the sketched tree swayed as if thee was wind in the picture. It looked a litle better, that was enough to satisfy the teen.
A comotion across the street caught Harley's attention. She looked up to see a druken guy, proably in his early twenties, toss a rock towards the store. As the real rock sailed threw the real store's window, the window on her sketch exploded, only to put itself back together. She watched as the poilce caught the guy. Feeling as if she was being watched, Harley turned and looked around. She saw the other girl, now onthe same side of the street, not to far away. The unexpected sight starteled Miss Tanner as fell from the box in shock. For a few seconds, Harley watched the other girl, wondering if she knew about the sketch.

'...What a clumsy girl...' she thought, watching the younger one topple off her box-seat as she caught sight of Lu. Really, was it necessary to fall backwards when you saw someone? Especially after you'd been staring at that same person for a good while previous, putting them down on paper. She saw that the teen had added in a tree and building to the original sketch, and that both additions were moving in accordance to the real world. As the window across the street shattered, so did the miniature one on the sketchbook. Interesting...
She approached with silent cat steps, eyes never leaving her subject once. It was probably disconcerting to anyone who was caught under that blank stare, but she neither knew nor cared; once her curiosity was aroused, she tended to stop concerning with the minor activities society deemed 'allowable'. Among them, was staring at a person without blinking. Stopping mere inches away from where the girl lay on the ground, Lu stood for a moment, as though contemplating what best to do next. Without saying a word, she reached out a hand towards the younger one. The meaning was clear, even if there were no vocals to accompany the gesture to further explain: she was offering to help the other up.

Harley's eys widened as the girl started aproaching. Thinking that the girl had seen the sketch and was now angry, Harley's heart beat begain quickening with fear, her bum stung from the fall, yet she didn;t knotice. It was scary being stared at like that. The silent way the older teen aproached, it almost seemed like she was... a vampire or a spirit. Something other then human.
For a few seconds, Harley stared at the hand in shock. Her mind uncomprehending. uddenly, she eseemed to snap backt o reality. Slowly, she started to reach up. Using the other person's hand to hoist herself up back to her feet, Harley rose. She felt liek sayoing sory, however, hher mouth did not agree with her head as it beagain reciting a poem that she heard a while ago, "The lonely soul wanders Alone in the walks of life No other soul as his companion The lonely soul wanders" Harley only got to the first little section before she clamped her mouth shut and reopened it only to say "sorry."

Sure enough, the younger girl looked terrified as she watched Lu approach her. The latter registered this without much shock; most people she met gave her that same look when she stared at them like that. She sighed mentally - it was such a drag, being treated like a demon that was coming to reap their souls or something along those lines. After the other was on her feet once more, the hand that had been preferred earlier disappeared back into the back pocket of her jeans. For a while, nothing else happened. Lu wasn't the social type to begin with - she left that to Rema mostly - and besides, she found nothing awkward in long silences. But again, society would think otherwise.
The 'Sorry' she was offered was unexpected. The tall, pale girl blinked once, then arched a thin black eyebrow in question. She still didn't speak, did not even open her mouth or make any signs that she was going to talk anytime soon, just interrogated the young teen with her abyssal eyes. Her gaze strayed to the fallen sketchbook that lay, temporarily forgotten, by their feet. Bending, Lu retrieved the pad and now stared at the moving figures on the otherwise blank page. She raised her head finally, and pointed the book at her companion. Was this hers?

Harley watched as the other girl picked up her sketch book. Sh stiffened a little as the girl pointed the book at her. Miss Tanner suspected that she was going to get mad about the sketch, even though aparently she was nice.
Harley smiled as she took th book, thankfull that the other person wasn't one to talk much. Talking only led to friends and a friend was the last thing Harley wanted. However, this omnuis silence was become too...odd. Harley couldn;t help but say something. Forcing her mouth to move and words to buble up from her throat she spoke. " I'm sory, I shouldnt be drawing people witout asking. I didn;t mean to be rude. My name's Harley by the way." For one who didn;t want to talk, she certainly was babaling a bit.

Lu merely shrugged, a lazy movement of the shoulders that suggested she really didn't care whether or not she was being drawn, with or without permission. It didn't bother her, but usually, people's sketches tended to stay static and unmoving once put on paper, a normality that was clearly lost on this girl's drawings. She withdrew her hand once again, as soon as the sketchbook had traded ownership, and another silence fell on them. The younger teen looked a bit uncomfortable with the quiet, but there was nothing to be done for it. Lu refused to speak out loud unless absolutely necessary, and idle chit-chat did not fall under that category in her book. However, giving her name did.
She let Harley babble until the stream of words coming out of her mouth ended. That one was just like Rema; as soon as you got her talking, you couldn't get her to stop. A faint trace of a smile on her face, Lu uttered only one word: "Lu." If the other couldn't figure out what she meant by that...well, there was nothing she could do then.
