Manegarm sighed. "If you saw what I saw, you wouldn't ask that. I saw the hell hound rip her stomach open right before my eye." He looked down, and sighed again, a tear forming in his eye. He looked up again, and saw a dark shape climbing the hill behind Kauss. "Kauss, behind you."
Jessika had reached the top of the hill. She looked up to see two wolves, one with its back to her. The other wolf mumbled something, and she guessed it was looking at her

Kauss whirled around to see who was approaching, then smiled "Well looky there it seems another has come calling Manegarm." Politely he sauntered forward a few steps dipping his head politely at the approaching wolf.
Silently he waited as the new comer approached tail wagging slightly to show he meant no harm

Jess' ears pricked up when she heard the name Manegarm. "Wait, is Manegarm here?" She asked out loud. Manegarm looked up.
"Jess?" He asked slowly. Jess gasped when she heard his voice.
"Manegarm! Is that you?" She walked forwards, exposing her face. Manegarm gasped as well.
"Jess!" He cried out, running over and embracing her as best he could. "You're alive! How?" He asked, tears of happiness leaking from his eye

Kauss sat and watched the two charge at each other in happy reunion 'How interesting...' he hummed to himself 'it would seem this tragedy has taken a wild turn, thepieces are all coming togeather but what will become of them now?'
Kauss kept silent smiling off to the side so as not to disrupt the monumental event. Dwadling a little he turned back to the bird who was still pecking at his former meal. He watched in wonder as it ate, dark wings shining in the sunlight. Suddenly, the bird caught his eye in its ghostly stare and held him there for several moments. Shivering, Kauss shook his head and trodded over to the happy couple at last.

Jess smiled. "All in good time." She turned to Kauss. "Am I right in thinking that you are the one who howled?" She asked him
"Yes." Replied Manegarm. "He is the one who howled."
"Well, you have no idea how grateful I am for it." She said to Kauss. "If you hadn't, me and Manegarm would still be looking"

Kauss grinned and dipped his head, "Oh no i am the grateful one, it's not often such a lovely twist of fate unfolds before me." eyes shining brightly he added, "Such a tale as yours is quite the treat i must say, though it is far from over." Tail wagging he circled slowly examining Jessika as he had Manegarm earlier. "You seem to be rather well in comparison to Manegarm's final description of you."

Jess nodded. "Well, what he took for the hell hound disembowling me was actually what would have been my pup's entrails. The hell hound hit the womb, killing the pups, but it didn't kill me" She said, suddenly growing sad

"i see..." he frownd, "how strange though i wonder if the hound had had it out for you to have attacked you repeatedly." Kauss flicked his ear thoughfully glancing between the two wolves. "though i t is no light loss for a female to loose their pups i suppose you are furtunate that they at least did not suffer much as they had not yet been born."suddenly he paused he did not want to tread to far here, the talk of newborn with a female could be a bit touchy if he remebered well. turning to Manegarm he asked, "did the beast hold some sort of history with your prior to your meeting with Jessika?"

Manegarm shook his head. "Not that I remember. Jess?" She thought for a moment.
"Before I left my pack, I remember there was one hellhound that sporadically attacked us, we never figured out why though. Do you think it followed me since then?"

Kauss shrugged, "Its a possibility that the hound had selected you or someone in you pack as a target and then had chosen to pursue you. But i have associated with few hell hounds in my time they tend to be rude and short tempered, getting a story out of them is like pulling teeth." he stated, chuckling a little thinking of a hound who had once tried to trick him into examining his teeth so he could kill him off.
"ah, would you mind if we continued our talk down by that stream on the other side of the hill? This rising heat is making me thirsty." he asked running his tongue over his lips, when did it get so hot out?

Jess nodded, panting slightly. "Yea. Why's it getting so hot?" Asked Jess. Manegarm just shrugged.
"In any case, a drink would be good. And if it's a hellhound, we should probably get away from here." Commented Manegarm, looking around furtivly

Jess was right, the heat was rather unusual, at first Kauss had merely been uncomfortable but now the sun was blazing high above him fiercer then ever. Tongue rasping over his lips he grunted with agitation he was not meant for the heat, he was meant for cold, dark places to match his darkened pelt. Manegarm had mentioned the hellhound but while Kauss doubted that he couldnt hide the nagging feeling of something not quite right.
He blamed the stupid bird personally, dredging up the past and worrying him with stories he had long forgotten. That was the down fall he supposed to collecting stories not all of them had happy ending.
It wasnt long before a rushing stream, filled with the winters fading snow, came into view. Eager for a drink Kauss picked up his pace.

Jess and Manegarm followed Kauss, with Manegarm still on his guard. "Doesn't this heat bother you?" Asked Jess.
"No." Manegarm pointed his snout at the missing piece of flesh on his body. "They keep me cooled down wonderfully." Jess nodded, and nuzzled Manegarm again.
"I'm glad to be back." Manegarm smiled, and nuzzled Jess back.
"Come on, let's catch up with Kauss. I really don't trust that bird."

The water was shallow and though it was flowing well it was not overpowering. Seeing this Kauss dejected the thought of a simple drink and plunged in, cool water brushing along the fur on his stomach as he shoved his head underneath. Feeling the suns rays weaken in his sodden state he looked up at the other with a smile.
"Care for a swim?" he chirped earlier foreboding long forgotten.

Jess chuckled at Kauss. "Sure. Manegarm?" Jess smiled at Manegarm.
"Nah, I think I'll pass. I'll just have a drink. I can't swim well." He nodded down at his left paw. "You have fun" He smiled at Jess. Jess nodded, and jumped in the water after Kauss.
"Ahhhh. That's better"
