"Hehe," giggled Lacri, "Grandpa Char. I like it." She relished the image of her uncle griping about baby-smells and dragging his weary old body across Giaku as hundreds of Lacri and Ammon's spawn dangle playfully off of his ears and spikes, treating his body like some crazy jungle gym.
Oh, how ideal it would be to be a mommy. Yes, these were thoughts far too fast for a young one such as she to be thinking. Even her own mother wouldn't have any of it! But the thought of having bundles of fur sleeping up against Ammon's strong, protective forelegs made her heart melt. She hoped for the dream to come true...
She was broken from her daydream when Ammon piped up about his little 'gift'.
"Oh yeah, I do remember him saying something like that. Lets yell at him."

"You go yell at him," Ammon said lazily. "I don't wanna wake up a sleeping mountain that spits poison." The emperor had been on the verge of a yawn, but heard a muffled sound beyond the door of their room. It sounded like the guard who had been appointed to patrol the topmost levels of the tower was tired himself. "Actually, get that guard to wake Charon up. It'll be funny."

Thinking for a moment, Lacri decided that she would have to agree with him. "Guard, you heard him," she said lazily, snuggling up closer to her zula. And with that, the guard wandered off to complete said task, grumbling out of earshot.

The guard muttered his annoyance all the way through the halls and down the staircase. Why did he have to be awake and stuck with guarding a little whelp playing princess and her pet Ohm? It wasn't fair. He had fought side-by-side with the Dominus himself, had defended the Imperial Tower with his life, and this is what his service to the Empire was reduced to? He hoped someday soon the Dominus would usurp the throne from his niece and former servant and take back the power that was rightfully his. The grumpy guard had been so caught up in his rather treasonous thoughts he didn't notice the very Druin he was sent to collect was a mere few feet ahead of him, exiting his quarters and only noticing him at the last second.
"Dominus," the guard yelped, nearly running into the larger Druin, quickly taking a few steps back and bowing his head. "Your niece sent me to collect you, Lord Charon."
Sleep had been elusive since the brief war with Shinkou had ended. Charon had given up trying to sleep for the night hours ago, deciding instead to check on Ammon and Lacrimosa. As he turned, one of the tower's guardians almost collided with the Dominus, quickly shuffling back and bowing his head in apology, muttering something about the young Empress.
"I was just on my way to see her. You stand relieved for the rest of the night." Charon said, walking past the guard toward the staircase which led to the royal quarters. After climbing the rather long flight of stairs the Druin stood before the doorway to the Empress' quarters and gently opened the door, stepping into the blue-fire lit room. "What does the Empress want at this ungodly hour of day?"He asked in jest, sitting next to the bed which Lacrimosa and Ammon rested on. ((RESTATING THINGS PREVIOUSLY DESCRIBED IN THE LAST PARAGRAPH FTW!!!))

OOC: >> Lmfao Also, sorry for short post e.e
A smile flashed on Lacri's face when Charon entered the room. "Ah, Uncle, thanks for joining us again. Ammon seems impatient about his gift and wants his curiosity satiated immediately."

A knowing smirk flitted across Charon's muzzle. He saw Ammon look at him expectingly, his one remaining eye wide in anticipation. Charon brought up his right paw, closing it and keeping it clenched for a few seconds. When he opened his paw a small black sphere rested in it. It appeared to be made of polished onyx and swirling, intricate scarlet lines wove around the entire sphere. He placed it on the cushion for Ammon and Lacrimosa to see more easily.
"If you allow it, Ammon, this will replace your lost eye." He said, a small hint of pride in his voice. This little black stone had taken almost the entire week to prepare, and he had worked on it even when he had thought Ammon would lose the struggle to stay alive. Ammon looked skeptical, bringing the black stone up to his remaining eye and inspecting it. "Admittedly, you won't have true sight ever again, but you will see, in a fashion. Of course, I won't be able to proceed without the blessing of the Empress." He said, looking to Lacrimosa and bowing his head slightly.

Crossing her forelegs, the Empress looked on silently, letting her Uncle go forth and present whatever it is he held secret. Something shiny caught her eye, and naturally curious, she elongated her neck to see it better. It was lying in the palm of her Charon's paw, as black as ebony. "Oh wow!" she murmured breathlessly. Dipping her muzzle, she said with a lighthearted tone, "Itt is such an honor to accede to such a prestigious gift bestowed by my uncle for my beloved, but do so quickly. I might snatch it away for keeps." She smiled and watched the proceedings. Ammon deserved this.

Charon bowed his head slightly to his niece, then took the onyx orb back from Ammon. He closed his paw around it for a brief second. When it was again open, the orb had shrunk down to the size of a small marble. It then floated from Charon's palm toward Ammon, stopping a few inches from his face. "I should warn you, Emperor, this is going to feel... odd. Your head may ache for a time as well." He said, shooting Ammon a momentary glance to see if he objected. Ammon simply nodded.
The small orb slipped itself into the eye socket. Nothing seemed to happen at first, much to Ammon's confusion. Then, a bright scarlet light erupted from the young Emperor's eye socket, and he felt an odd sensation in his head. It wasn't painful, but it was far from pleasant. He felt the orb growing in the socket, a sensation that soon began to turn into a dull ache which in turn became an intense throbbing pain. Ammon gasped and thrust his muzzle into the pillow to keep himself from crying out, pawing at his head in a futile attempt to make the pain cease. As soon as the pain began, it was over. All that was left was the dull, throbbing ache. The scarlet light from the orb grew dimmer and dimmer until it was gone. Ammon slowly looked back up, now seeing everything in two different worlds. His real eye still saw colors and small details in everything, crisp and clear. But the way the orb saw the world was much different. Colors were muted, gray, undefined. He peered around the room. The magical flames that his mate had lit around the room still glowed a beautiful blue. It was like he was seeing them for the first time. Ammon then turned his gaze toward Lacrimosa, and saw she radiated a bright blue aura. The scarlet light flashed again momentarily from the orb as he widened his eyes in surprise, disappearing just as quickly. "So this is what you meant when you said I won't have true sight, Dominus," Ammon said, looking toward Charon, who radiated an aura that was nearly as gray and colorless as the rest of the world. Out of curiosity, Ammon brought his own paw in view of the obsidian orb, seeing pure black radiate from it, the same empty, malevolent black of the flames he was capable of breathing. This deeply unsettled him. Almost everything about him hinted toward nothing good.

Lacrimosa had seen what had unraveled with slight envy, but not the kind of envy that grew from spite. Then that envy turned into a pinch of fear when Ammon held a spot on his head in apparent pain. "Are--are you okay?" She heaved a deep sigh of relief when he spoke. "What do you mean? What can you see?"
