Road to Discovery (Moon_Song/Taiyo, Open?)

<sup>Aiu's emerald eyes narrowed at the coyote-like wolf's retreat, her mentioning of time bringing a snort from the snowy she-wolf. However, one of the new comers was speaking now. "Aiu, huh? It's a beautiful name." She said in a gentle voice, an almost soothing effect to those words. She then introduced herself as Ea, and her sister as Darklight, still using that same calming tone. Well, the adolescent female didn't mind, but she wouldn't let her guard down either. "A pleasure to meet you as well." Aiu replied, glancing at the one winged female as she returned to jumping in the trees. Soon after, however, something else caught the femme's attention: footsteps. Once again, her realm of focus expanded and she twisted around to see a gray male crashing toward her.


For an entire morning Gann had been stalking this rabbit, his mind consumed with thoughts of what a wonderful meal it was going to make. Finally, the gray male had managed to drive his prey away from its burrow and the race had begun. They darted here and there, sometimes the rabbit far ahead and at other times it narrowly escaped the jaws of death. The large male was panting heavily, but still he chased the small creature with single-minded ferocity. Food... Food... Food... A single word repeating millions of times in the wolf's head. There! It had hesitated! Gann lunged forward, a triumphant growl wrinkling his muzzle as he landed on....another wolf? A whimper of confusion left his jaws as he cocked his head and looked down at the wolfess, a strong limb on either side of her shoulders. For a second they simply stared at each other until he snorted, silvery-amber eyes narrowing a bit. "Well you're not a rabbit." The gray said in something disappointment. The she-wolf beneath him scowled in annoyance, twisting to lay completely on her back with her wings? splayed out to her sides. "Astute observation." She snapped before pressing her hind paws against Gann's abdomen and shoving hard. "Now get off!!" The femme snarled as the gray male went rolling with a loud "oof!".

Gann ended up on his back and at the feet of another she-wolf. Huh.... Why does she look so fam- His tail thumped happily as he realized at whose paws he now rested. "Ea?! What are you doing here?" Suddenly remembering how he had just been made a fool of, a sheepish nature took over his grin and his tail slowed a bit. "Erg... How much of that did you see...?" He asked jokingly, embarrassment within the tone of his voice.</sup>

((Oh, yeah! Out of curiosity, where does this fit in the timeline again? o.o Before or after Ea formed the pack?))

Aithne arched a brow at the male as he crashed haphazardly through the brush and onto Aiu, flicking her ear in mild annoyance as he mentioned she wasn't a rabbit. Males always seemed to be the goofier gender, didn't they?

She fluffed her wing and pulled it closer to her, not very surprised that he would know Ea. Ea seemed to be the type that attained allies with ease. Now what? With all of these wolves suddenly gathered about, there would be no way for her to train efficiently. They'd be in the way. And worse.

They'd possibly watch.

With a quiet "humph," she stretched out her wing and let her mind mull over her training. After all, becoming involved in conversations wasn't quite a strong point for her. She still needed to train her strength, as speed was no issue in comparison to Yura, and she still needed to train her magic. She shuddered internally at the thought of how strong Yura's fire must've gotten over these many, many moons.

But what was she to do to tap into it? Did it truly exist? Sure, Ea and Darklight had mentioned it before while they waited for a snowstorm to pass through. But did they really understand whatever it was they'd seen? Perhaps it was just the light of Darklight's fire flicking about the cavern that gave the illusion of magic being performed?

Perhaps.

With a snap, she jerked the wing back to her and lay her head on her paws, tail curled tightly around her side. Her eyes stared blankly at the wolves before her, taking in whatever conversation she had obviously missed.

((OoC: This is before the pack formed ^_^))

The sound of two bodies crashing into one another broke Ea from her thoughts. Ea snapped her head to the side in time to see a familiar form of a male pin Aiu. Recognition colored her expression, but before she could speak, Gann was tossed from atop Aiu and landed right at her feet. She giggled at how his display. She skipped over his first question and answered the second. "I saw enough to know you haven't changed much, Gann." Good natured amusement coated her voice.

The sound of running grew closer. Darklight lowered her head and narrowed her eyes in the direction of the approaching presence. She was just about to growl when out from the trees burst a familiar wolf. Gann landed, in quoit a compromising position, on top of Aiu. Darklight lifted her head and sat on her back side, watching the little show. Darklight's eyes followed the arch of Gann's flight that landed him at Ea's feet. She held back a snicker and smiled.

"What brings you here?" She bent her head a little as she asked, cocking her head slightly to the side, as she was subject to do when curious.

<sup>"Heh... Well if that's all then." Gann replied to Ea's first comment with mock embarrassment. He rolled over and scrambled to his feet, shaking some bits of twig and loose leaves from his fur. Although when he finished, he still looked like a mess, the pup-like male was still a lot less of a mess than he had been.

Black lined ears pricked forward at Ea's voice and he listened closely to her words. "Well, I've just been wandering around and I guess I wound up here. It's rather nice don't you think? Such a lovely place." His voice seemed somewhat airy as he finished, bright eyes looking about him at the towering trees. When he looked back down to Ea, a small smile curled one side of his mouth. "It's been too long..." At that, he would have moved forward to bump his nose against her neck, but he was suddenly jerked back to reality when he remembered Darklight was also there. "Uh! I, uh...." He stammered, falling back on his haunches and turning his attention to the gray femme. "So, how have you both been? Are these your friends?" Standing again and obviously unsure of himself, Gann looked at the two winged she-wolves standing not far away. "Pardon my bad manners ladies... Um, and especially you ma'am... I suppose I should have been watching where I was going heh heh..."


Aiu had been smoothing her ruffled feathers and stretching her wings out to ensure they were both uninjured when the male suddenly turned on her. She instantly drew away, expecting him to attack her or pin her on the ground again. Well... I'll be ready this time buddy, you won't catch me off guard again! The slender she-wolf promised silently, jade eyes narrowing as she coiled her muscles to spring away. But he didn't try to attack her. In fact, he was apologizing. A string of angry curses flew through the femme's mind then, but she merely snorted and laid her ears back against her neck as she fell into a sitting position with her tail curled around her front legs and her wings held firmly to her sides."Well... You should be." Aiu replied cooly.</sup>


((OOC: Sorry it's taken me so long to reply >.< I've been swamped with studying for finals and then with thanksgiving dinners. But I'll be able to post back again! *cheers*))

Her ears twitched at the sight of the male's almost-skittish behavior. Standing, sitting, going to make a move and then stopping himself. Really, he needed to learn to be more confident about himself. She noticed that the male was looking directly her way. She flicked the tip of her tail, her honeydew eyes blinking back to reality. Even though she had been taking in the conversation, her mind had still found time to wander into slight unconsciousness.

What had he said? She'd heard them speaking, but none of it had registered. Whatever the words were that he uttered, she gave a quick nod before turning to face the trees that she had been training with earlier in the day.

Her fur bristled for a moment as discomfort scratched its way down her spine. So many wolves--what were they all doing gathering here? What was the meaning of this? To test her patience? It wasn't that Aithne disliked the wolves. It was the mere fact that she hadn't been around so many wolves in years. When she was a small pup, she remembered being around several wolves--five or six, not including herself--but growing up, that number had dwindled to just her, her two siblings, and her parents.

Her eyes narrowed at the sudden realization. Not that it was important, but the sudden disappearance--and lack of explanation growing up--of these other wolves bothered her. Who were they, and where had they gone?

((Sorry about the bad post, guys. I've kind of been out of the roleplaying loop for a while. x.x Give it time, I'll bounce back. On a sidenote: Antisocial Aithne is antisocial. :3 ))

Her first thought was that he was getting closer. When she realized why, Ea felt her face warm and she stepped back a tad. Luckily, Gann didn't seem to notice and was more distracted by her sisters presence.

Darklight was half watching/half glowering at the male as he got closer to her sister. Her overprotective nature showed through more than usual. She didn't like anyone near her little sister, and most notable males. Before he did anything...unintelligent, he remembered his company and stopped. He asked of her how they had been, and she answered simply, "Fine."

Darklight glanced at the other females in the little gathering. Aiu was still defensive, and Aithne was distracted. What an interesting bunch...

For some reason, Ea's eyes were drawn to Aithne. Her one-winged friend had turned away, but her posture made it look like she was rather uncomfortable. Ea wondered if so many strange wolves was the cause of Aithne's distress.

Not entirely thinking, she walked over to the female and sat down just beside her, pitching her voice so only she would hear. "What's wrong?" She wasn't quite sure why she had thought it a good a idea to walk over, but there was a...sort of compulsion to do so. She was sincere, though.

<sup>Gann had to actively think about not wincing from the harshness he heard in Darklight's reply. "Heh..heh.... Um... So I'm sorry for barging in like this..." He paused as Ea rose to go sit by the coyote-like she-wolf, something like concern on her visage. The look was familiar to him from the time they had spent together while trapped in the cave, he knew she wouldn't be paying much attention to him if he followed so he remained by Darklight. "So, what are you two doing here? Are you traveling with those two?" He asked they gray she-wolf, keeping his voice low enough for only her to hear.


Forgotten and left out. Oh well, this would give her time to watch the others and see if she should be anxious or not. You should leave. You're unwanted here. A voice whispered meanly in her head, and though she knew it was correct she ignored it. How long had it been since she had been around another wolf? How long had it been since the wolves she had been around hadn't tried to kill her? The femme lowered down onto her belly, crossing her paws in a relaxed position. There was nothing to fear amongst this mismatched group. The male, this Gann, was perhaps her greatest concern. Well, I'll just keep a watch on him then... She decided before laying her head down on her paws, jade eyes gazing at the large male currently conversing with the gray female. The adolescent wolfess would stay for a little while, until they seemed annoyed with her presence at least. It's been so long since I've been around others... I might as well enjoy it while it lasts...</sup>

Blinking out of her thoughts, she noticed that Ea had moved to her side. Her slight surprise melted into a soft, weary smile. "Just a large amount of wolves here, yes?" She said quietly, so as not to disturb the others' conversations. "I'm not quite used to it."

She stretched her wing once again, gently jerking her head towards Gann. "Who's this? You seem quite familiar with him." Her weak smile grew a bit stronger, showing her meaning. No male and female became friends just to be friends. At least, that's what she was taught when she was younger.

Perhaps these two had a history that Aithne was completely unaware of?

((Oh, WOW, crappy post. I'm so sorry for dropping the ball, guys. I've been busy trying to find a new job and trying to stay well. Please forgive me!))

Ea nodded at Aithne's explanation for her unease. Her assumption had been correct at least. She balked, however, at the look Aithne gave her after asking about Gann. "I-It's nothing like that, Darklight and I met him and another female once during a snow storm. We were stranded in a cave till the storm lifted, just as it was with you and me." Ea gave a smile. She hadn't thought about it untill then, but she had met a these two who had become good friends in very similar circumstances.

Darklight sat up straight as she surveyed the area. She felt she didn't need to worry much about Ea with Aithne, but she still glanced over a few times. She was watching the other female...had she said her name? She couldn't remember...settle down. She wondered idly if she should speak to her to find out what she was like when Gann spoke up, interrupting her thoughts.

With a hint of her all too common aggravation Darklight replied "We have been searching, just as we were in the north. As for these other two, we were not traveling with them. We happened to run across them just as you ran across us." She lowered her voice a bit, speaking more to herself than anyone else. "A chance meeting I suppose."
