Thanks to all her warnings Sanka wasn't surprised when a wolf jumped out at him. Knowing he was with an alphess, or what they called Serra, calmed him, even as the new fae let out a growl. For a moment Sanka thought about battle, what it would be like to destroy this new obstacle. But when the word sister came up all thoughts were gone, he couldn't possible attack the alphesses sister. He need not cause a feud between their packs.
Sanka sized up the fae who had so bravely challenged him. Unlike the lithe Serra, this fae was muscular, far more bulky than her sister. She could probably even pose a threat in battle. Sanka then began pondering magic, not once had she seen the Serra use hers, and this new fae looked to have more than enough brute strength to use any.
I wonder how I'd size up to them.He wondered. In any case the fae had dropped he aggressive stance for a less threatening one. Sanka could still feel her eyes piercing through him though, she wouldn't be easy to calm with a polite front. He would have to keep on his toes with this one watching him.

When Darklight was determined, there was little that escaped her battle trained eyes. She could almost see the male's thoughts. He was thinking of battle. Not just that, but he actually entertained the notion that he could take her on. She knew how one looked with those kinds of thoughts from experience.
She narrowed her eyes at him and kept her head low.
Ea sighed softly. Darklight always saw a threat in strangers, especially male strangers. Perhaps she was afraid one of them might sweep her little sister of her paws. The very thought made her want to laugh.
There was defiantly going to be tension between these two, but asking Darklight to leave would prove fruitless. Yes she would leave, but she would soon return and follow at a safe distance. Ea knew there would be no way Darklight would truly leave. Besides, she was not so much a fool as to leave her post unattended.
For a moment she thought Ea would send her away, but she didn't. She knew her too well. it was a good thing Darklight had had another pack member take her position until she returned. There was no way she would leave her sister alone with this kind of wolf. He had not proven to be Kialli as of yet, but she didn't want to find out after the fact. There would be no moving her from her resolve.
I guess there's no helping it. "Forgive me if this proves to be too uncomfortable, Sanka, but would you mind too much if my Tyran...er one of my generals was to accompany us?" She kept forgetting that there were few who knew their words for things. Force of habit, really.

Sanka had a murderous look in his eye as he stared down the general. Any slight move she made would be considered a threat and would result in Sanka doing his best to latch onto her throat. Not that he wanted to end the fae's life, but he sure wasn't ready to die.
As soon as he heard the alphesses voice his personality took a 180 degree turn. The murderous look in his eye was not joyful and kind, he had also dropped his guard and taken up a much more relaxed posture.
"The more the merrier!" he answered forcing kindness into his voice.

The tension in the air could be cut with the swipe of a paw. You could almost see the sparks shooting between Darklight and Sanka. Ea groaned internally. She hoped that, at the very least, the two could be civilized enough to make this trip bearable.
Sanka's forced demeanor was far from comforting, but she doubted she ask for much better. From the way he acted, she had surmised that Sanka was a fighter in his homeland. Perhaps he was with the pack down in the Fire Wells. She had not asked, and decided not to for the time being. She would bring it up later when the journey grew uncomfortably silent.
Darklight wished she knew if this male was part of a pack or not. If he was a loner, she would have no one, save Ea, to answer to, but if he was attached, she could pay a high price. She would not, however, ask him outright. Instead she would wait and see if the information came out on its own.
Regardless of how well she saw through his facade, she still had to get him home. "Let's be on our way then." She kept her tone light and cheerful. It was her most common expression anyway.
Ea once again faced south and began to walk.
Darklight would wait for Sanka to follow behind Ea. She didn't want to have to take her eyes off of him. If he did not follow behind, she would, begrudgingly, walk ahead of him. The entire time her tail would be raised horizontal to the ground, indicating her extremely alert state.

Sanka could feel the faes eyes digging into his pelt but he did his best to ignore it. He took a place behind the alphess, trotting along happily. He was glad that the new fae new nothing about him, that was probably the only thing saving his butt right now. But no matter how much information she had, that wouldn't prepare her for Sanka's immense strength.
"Your pack must be new, i do not remember this land being claimed too long ago." he said remembering his past trek through this land.

Ea nodded at Sanka's comment. "We formed a number of months ago. Yet we already are growing strong in our numbers. For a new pack that is." She didn't wish to sound like she was bragging too much, nor did she want to make her pack seem weak for being new.
He had been through before? For what? Darklight took note of every word and inflection. She only grunted just before Ea answered as a way to make her distaste for the situation known-well, more so.

"Ah i see, well congratulations Serra Ea." he said trying out the word she had used not too long ago. "I wish your pack many fine pups."
He turned his attention back to her general. Her eyes were still fixed on him. He admired her courage, not many wolves would stare someone down while being looked at themselves. For a moment Sanka thought about casting his spell Astrum on her. It wouldn't be hard to get a lock on her since she was confident enough to hold a gaze with him.
"I'm sorry, but i didn't catch your name."

Ea didn't remember saying her name, nor did she remember Darklight saying her name allowed. She took note of this and kept walking as though she did not notice this.
At his comment on pups, Ea flushed slightly. She has no mate, and no one in the pack had found a mate that she knew of. She was quick to clear her face, though, back to the calm serene face she always wore. "Thank you, Sanka."
She pretended not to hear her sister say his name and answered him. "Nor I yours." Her head was high now and she glared into his eyes. He was scheming something, she could see that much. She rolled her eyes at the idea and walked pat him. The whole time her hackles stood prominent and her tail swung in constant activity.
She slowed just next to the male and whispered so that her sister could not hear her. "Don't try my patience." She wanted to spit the word Kialli at him, but he had not deserved it...yet. There was just something about him she absolutely did not like.
She continued walking and stopped in front of her Serra, bowing her head. She whispered something of little import to her sister, and returned to her position behind the male.
Ea frowned a little as her sister approached. She had heard her sisters words. Her ears were sharper than her sister sometimes gave her credit for. Darklight mumbled something about a report and went back to the rear of the convoy.
Ea sighed internally. If this tension became anymore heated, she would not hesitate to use her voice gift. It was the best way she knew how to calm way-ward wolves who were too aggravated to hear reason.

"Try your patience? I merely asked your name, but i was out of line not to introduce myself first, especially to someone of such a rank as general. My name is Sanka, i am the 3rd seat of the 4th Squad of the Akatsuki pack." he said.
At this point he just hoped to make it home safely. The Alphess was becoming agitated, and he had started off on a bad paw with the general. He needed to gain their trust and avoid confrontation before he blew the mission completely.
"And you?"

That was better. Learning something about this male, whom she now was obligated to call Sanka, made Darklight less annoyed. He claimed to be part of the pack called Akatsuki. At word of that, she nodded slightly. She at least knew that she could not outright attack him. Too bad. That could have been fun.
Ea smiled apologetically at Sanka. She was sorry that her sister was such a bother sometimes. "Thank you for sharing that with us, Sanka." She turned and gave her sister a meaningful look. She had gotten her information. She needed to relax and back off.
Ea wondered who it was that he was looking for. Was this friend of his another pack member? At any rate, She had an escort to complete, and if Darklight was going to cause more problems, she would send her away.
Darklight didn't miss that look. Sometimes she felt like Ea was the elder sister. She lowered her head a bit out of respect. She would not apologize though.

Sanka could still feel the fae's eyes burning into his pelt as they trudged along through the white land. Sanka looked over the fae, she was a gorgeous wolf. Her pure white pelt dazzled him, he imagined it was great for a land like this. He looked down at his own paws, they contrasted brilliantly against the white snow. He sighed knowing that he was so visible, this wasn't a place he'd come to again.
"How 'bout a sparring session? Maybe you'll trust me more after you draw my blood." he said.
His statement was directed towards the alphesses sister who still hadn't given a name but he continued to stare straight ahead as he walked, more interested in the alphesses reaction than the others.

Ea felt eyes at her back, and she knew it was Sanka's. It made her feel a little self conscious, but she did her best not to show it. For quite a while the trio walked along in silence. Sanka, though, was the one to break it. As soon as he spoke Ea stopped in her track and wheeled around. She knew Darklight would never turn down that offer, but he could not afford conflict with another pack. Not when Voyani was so new.
Darklight's lips parted in a toothy grin. She dug her claws deeper into the earth and her hackles rose. That was what she had been waiting for: an invitation. That was all she needed to hear.
A new, deep intensity entered her voice. "It would be my pleasure." Her pupils dilated, her breathing evened, her mind began to focus. She was ready to start circling the male, that is, until she saw her sisters face.
Ea's expression was rigid and stern as she glared at her sister. Her golden eye blazed with an inner fire while her blue eye was icy and frigid. It was such an oddly flattering duality, though no less authoritative.
"There will be no fighting here." Her voice was just as stern as her face. The usual musical quality of her voice turned to the eerie notes of a symphony in minor. It was a glimpse of the reason had become the Serra.
At her sisters voice, Darklight stopped in her tracks and watched her sister, almost pleadingly. Even if Ea wasn't using her gift, her voice had a way of making you want to listen. The urge to fight was like an inferno in Darklight's soul, but she had sworn her life and loyalty to her sister. She would not over turn that over this, even if she really wanted to.
Ea shook her head at her sisters pleading glance. "Forgive me, Sanka," Her voice was more gentle now as she turned to face him, "but if I am to escort you back to your pack, I would rather not return you in worse condition than we found you, nor would I want my first Tyran injured in any way."

Sanka was no stranger to battle. He calmed his mind and took slow deep breaths oxygenating his muscles, making them ready to spring. He still hadn't turned to face the fae whom he had challenged, instead he still watched the alphess. As she turned to face them his heart stopped. Her gold eye burned with such intensity Sanka nearly expected to spontaneously combust if she glanced at him. It was probably only the icy stare from her blue eye that stopped him from catching fire.
Sanka smiled. She was a great leader, able to control a vicous 2nd in command, as well as make wise desicions. She even had Sanka following her orders. Just as he was about to apologize for his stupid idea, she asked for his forgiveness instead. Sanka was in awe, what a great leader. In a position of such power, for her to apologize for denying his request, well, it was just uncommon.
"Serra Ea, you need not ask for forgiveness from an outsider like myself. Here, your word is law. It is i who should ask for your forgiveness, I shouldn't have suggested such a stupid thing." he said bowing his head.
Sanka wondered how his pack would react if he returned bloody and beaten. They weren't an especially tight knit group, Sanka had yet to meet his own Captain much less any of the others. He then had a horrible thought. If he could provoke the 2nd in command enough to launch an attack there would be a war, and his pack would finally get to fight again. He shook the idea out of his head accepting that nothing good would come out of a war between this new pack and his.

Ea smile broadened, but her eyes did not lose all of their intensity. Sanka was proving to be rather respectable wolf in his own right. Although, a certain look crossed his face, if only briefly, that made her feel uneasy.
Darklight's shoulders dropped heavily. There was nothing she could do if Ea would not allow it. She instead focused on keeping one eye on Sanka and the other on the surrounding area.
Ea straighten up, her necklace shifting around her neck and catching and reflecting a ray of light. "Well, then. Lets us continue on our way." She motioned toward the south with a nod of her head. They were making good time, even with the few distractions.
