((Did you not read the flavor text above? I already accounted for it possibly getting caught. It is well-fitted and will not be able to snag. (-: )) Niphanos chuckles and says, "Do not worry about it getting caught on anything. I judged the proper length, and it will not be very loose. You will hardly even be able to see the chains, they are fairly small, as you can see. They are also very strong, because of the way I aligned the crystalline structure of the surface, so they will very likely never break, nor scratch. the surface is so smooth, any but the most determined attempts to pull at it would fail." Looking her over again, he says, "I also treated it so it would not tarnish... one of my fellow Loka in another clan... we have a mutual obligation. He supplied me with many wondrous substances. Thus, you will not need to take it off, and if you should need to scratch or clean yourself, simply do so. The mount is unobtrusive enough, it should be able to shift far enough over for you to scratch or clean the covered area." He sits down, still hanging the ornament off of one claw. With his tail wrapped around him, and looking at her he says, "If you absolutely must remove it, for whatever reason, and I hope that never happens, rotating the gem should loosen the chains' base rings enough for you to pull it off, whether by breaking those rings, or by pulling it over your head." He looks down at his own adornments, the various clasps, bands, and chains. He contemplatively admires the way the various yellow gems solemnly glimmer in the dark of the cave. "Many of my own I rarely take off. Then again, I don't have fur." He gives her a little smile.
((Intimidating text wall is intimidating... Sorry I couldn't break it up into smaller parts!))

((lol yes I read it, but it failed to describe how it would move and accomadate her fur. Niphanos explained it well. I'm still worried it might rub under her legs because it is so fitted unless it is designed like a dog harness. Then it wouldn't. I'll let you descided as Niohanos helps her into it.)) [glow=blue,2,300]Kellyn nodded her head once. "Ok, you'll help me get it on then? I doubt I would do well on my own." She sat and lifted a paw just slightly. "See, no fingers." Kellyn knew once she had it on that she woulld not remove it for any reason. Unless it was broken and ripped from her she would keep it. Niphanos would have no idea how much this simple gift would mean to her. The only thing she had ever been given since she had lost her family was a hard time. Still, he seemed to miss the point that she had no fingers and no way to reach or twist the stone to remove the piece. It made little difference to her. She wasn't going to need to be able to remove it.[/glow]

((You have a valid point, I am attempting to redesign it at this very moment. It could take a while. D: You see, I don't actually have a dog harness, nor do I understand how it keeps from interfering with the leg movements, so I am just gonna have to come up with a system on my own. ))

((I'll just go with my original design... It seems safe enough. Attached to the chest, which only--NYAN-- which only bends to breathe. Very little slack in the chains can be gained, so it will stay up against her, preventing grabbing/snagging.)) Niphanos approaches Kellyn and lightly holds the center piece of the adornment against her chest. He takes one of the chains and loops it around, under her left leg, and up over her right shoulder, connecting the loose in into the corresponding ring on the center piece. He does the same for the other chain, but under the right leg and over the left shoulder. After he connects it, he steps back and sees if there are any final adjustments to be made. Judging there to be none, he goes and takes the two links on her back where the chain crosses, and hooks them together via a small clasp. This is no mean feat, as he made the chains relatively small for the wolf, and terribly small for him. He takes a very pointy-looking device and uses it to rivet the clasp to the chains. Taking a step back again, he admires the way it looks. She's b-- I mean, it's beautiful on her. he thinks. Thanks to the smooth surface of the relatively small chains, the slight pressure they put on her 'armpits' should not bother her. As she moves, they will simply slide out of the way, especially with her silky fur. "Oh, that is even more magnificent than I imagined."
Laying down, Niphanos says, "Well, that was quite exciting. It ended up taking longer than I thought, but still came out marvelously. I am quite tired, and though I do not have much in the way of bedding, feel free to sleep if you wish." He makes an expansive gesture at that last remark. He himself was quite warm and soft, but he would never suggest she sleep against him, as he has only just met her, and 'twould be terribly improper.
((If it starts getting weird, don't worry. He's just a little confused right now, a lot of new experiences are messing with his head, he should get it all sorted out shortly. I hope. He'd better, that would not be something appropriate for this site. >:-\))

((lol it doesn't bother me. it simply makes things interesting.)) [glow=blue,2,300]Kellyn help Niphanos the best she could, lifting her legs in turn. She eyed the sharp pointy thing he used behind her to hook the clasp. As soon as Niphanos sat back she shook herself to settle everything in place. She looked as herself the best she could but mostly relyed on the dragon's reaction to tell her how she looked. Kellyn watch the dragon falter slightly then smiled as he called his creation magnificent. "I believe so, dragon." She moved to see what she could see in the water's reflection then bent her head to take a long drink. When Niphanos mention sleep she realized she had not slept well the night before and had been up for quite a long while today. Kellyn yawned and stretched, dipping her back in an upside down arch and listened to her spine crack. A stiffness she hadn't known had been there was relieved. Unaware of the dragon's own dilema with the sleeping arrangements Kellyn looked around. "Where do you normally sleep, Niphanos?" Kellyn hadn't meant anything by it, wolves often slept together, but that wasn't the source of her question. She was simply curious as to where a dragon would sleep. She look up at him and could almost watch his dilema in all the possible answers he could give her and she almost wished she could take her innocent question back so as not to put him in such an uncomfortable position but she knew that she couldn't take it back. Instead she found herself waiting for him to decide, to answer her. It was interesting. [/glow]

((I am going to try something that they do in the Anthro forums, where they say what will happen one way or the other in a decision that the other person makes, then letting the other person put that into what happens.)) Niphanos tucks his chin back in embarrassment at the wolf's question. "Oh, I am not terribly bothered by just stone beneath me, so this is where I lie." He gets up and walks over to another small recess in the wall. The round bottom of the stony cavity was ever so slightly curved, and fit Niphanos curled up perfectly. He looks at it for a minute, apparently lost in thought, before stepping in and laying down in it, curling up and wrapping his tail about him. Watching Kellyn, he thinks Could she be...? No, that is just absurd. People would think I had gone peculiar. It would give the other dragons good reason to call me crazy. Still... As he lays his head down, he keeps an eye on the wolfess, to read her actions. Should she wish to lay by him, he would offer she sleep beneath his wing by lifting it up so she can lay up against him, then placing it over her when she does. Otherwise, he would simply settle and go to sleep.

[glow=blue,2,300]Kellyn was unaware of Niphanos' inner dialouge as she considered him. Without asking she stepped into the hallow his body made and wrapped her tail around herself until her face was almost hidden. She had not felt safe in the company of another for some time and she didn't know what to make of it. So Kellyn didn't say anything, she simply closed her eyes and let sleep claim her as the weariness of the few short years of her life was relieved by the dragon's presence and acceptance of her and everything she was.[/glow]

((Time for gratuitous, meaningless monologue! These dream scenes are always... interesting when it's Niphanos. I get to just let him say whatever he wants! n_n It really helps me figure out more about him. Too bad he's the only one.)) Taking oddly-placed comfort in feeling Kellyn next to him, Niphanos too drifts off to sleep, thankful for this friendship. As is his curse, instead of working his way into the dream part of sleep, he simply becomes conscious again. He cannot move, and can barely sense the world around him, but he is still very much conscious. He uses this time to think out any problems, though it is terribly irritating when he has nothing to think about. It is fortuitous, then, that he has met this wolfess. His feelings for her stir up many issues, intellectually, morally, and emotionally: He knows he likes her stark white fur, not just the way the silver makes it glimmer. He cannot deny any attraction, no matter how peculiar, unorthodox, and potentially demented it may be. They say the heart rarely listens to reason. If this is true, then no doubt this is one of those times. How could he be in love with her, though? She is a wolf, an entirely different species one-fifth his size. He keeps vaguely thinking about the gem and if he is going to make another, larger version of the piece he made for her, but for himself. Finding he is making no progress, his mind wanders across a vast array of topics, and it looks like a savannah, but devoid of grass, with the occasional 'tree' being a worthy topic he could pick up and resolve. He meanders along here for quite some time before he simply settles down and practices patience until he wakes. Even dragons need to work on their patience, especially with how quickly he has been doing things as of late. He needs to slow down and enjoy what he does more. To take pride, rather than admire briefly before making an other. With this thought, a 'tree' sprung up beneath him, but he ignored it. He waited for his body to awaken so he could either discuss it with the wolfess or simply continue what he is doing, teaching her in much the same manner that he has so far. He will, of course, teach her the techniques in a verbal fashion, but he will do so with demonstrations. As for how she would work the tools, he figured out a very simple solution. What do wolves do best? Bite! She can simply hold the tools in her jaws while holding the material still with one paw. [/i]

((Bad day yesterday. Sorry ^.^)) [glow=blue,2,300]Kellyn didn't dream. It seemed to her that it would be insult to injury with her being able to dream all night long and then see as much as she did all day long. Still she didn't sleep through the night either. Kellyn woke early that morning but she didn't get up. For once she was warm and comfortable under Niphanos' wing. It didn't occur to her how curious the situation had become but then she spent most her time ignoring her own longings and feelings. Surprisingly the jewel didn't hurt her in the least and she barely noticed it was there. Kellyn suspected in another day she wouldn't feel it at all. It really was a testament to how well Niphanos made it. She smiled to herself and settled back down to wait for morning and for Niphanos to wake. [/glow]

As he lay there, slowly waking, Niphanos breathes deeply and in a relaxed fashion. He also notices that Kellyn is still there, not that he expected her to really leave. He lets out a little "Hmmm" of contentedness, feeling her small warmth next to him, but otherwise does not move, enjoying this moment for what it was. For the most part, he has come to terms with his feelings, and will attempt to carry them in the most professional way possible, without pushing them on her in any way. Still... he wishes she had some way of getting back up here on her own.
He enjoys her company, but his mind's nature is to wander, so as she lies under his wing, he begins thinking forward into the day, roughly predicting by behavioral patterns what variety of things Kellyn would most enjoy doing. If he started teaching her something she enjoyed most first, she would feel more encouraged because you are always best at what you enjoy doing. He just had to be a careful judge of her character... ((Hahah, I would guess at what your character likes myself, but I don't really know enough about her to tell. Most characters I meet are muddled slightly by the person controlling them. Even mine. What I'm trying to say is would you mind telling me what you think she would enjoy the most?))

((Kellyn is not one for making things. She has too much demon blood in her. She appreciates beauty and such but is ultimately a destroyer. Or so she believes. She is best at hunting and fighting because of her sight and she sees no creation in such activities. This is why she enjoys Niphanos so much. He is what she cannot be.)) [glow=blue,2,300]Kellyn sensed Niphanos waking and she moved to sit up so she could look at him. "Awake finally, dragon?" Kellyn smiled, softening question. She was ready to be up. It was a rare night that she slept and did not travel. Most of the time she slept through the hotest part of the day and traveled at night. Curious to see what Niphanos had in store, Kellyn moved out from under his wing and to the pool to drink. She was slightly hungry but she was more than used to being hungry. "So what do you have planned today?" Kellyn knew Niphanos had made up his mind about something but she couldn't tell what. So she went fishing like she had learned to do to push someone into making a decsion so she could tell what it was. But instead of a fight and taunts Kellyn used bait by making Niphanos decide what they were to do. Kellyn stretched and then wagged her tail once. She really did enjoy the dragon's company and she felt greatly indebted to him for the piece of jewelry he had given her. Kellyn was just trying to figure out how to repay him without asking. [/glow]

((Heheh, no worries. When he tries something like this, he won't quit until he makes some sort of progress, lol. Besides, wouldn't something that focuses all of her sight into her own mind be a sort of release? I think it would be fairly relaxing, not having to focus on any of the futures she sees, instead ignoring sight and working by feel. When drawing, I barely look at what I'm doing, but it still comes out pretty well. My point is, when I create things, I do it to get away from anything that is bugging me, and I think she could do the same. Do you see what I am getting at?)) Niphanos watches the wolf get up and get a drink. He slowly responds, "Well, I came up with a way to fashion the tools that you may use them... You may not have the same intricacy of movement as most other creatures, but I think you could still create wonderful things." There is no use denying it, as anyone can create things. Testament to this is in a land far from Shinkou, where he met a great icy behemoth. This monster of a golem seemed nothing but danger and destruction, yet it was just as enthralled in art as any. It wasn't bad at it, either. It made massive, beautiful monochromatic paintings across the landscape, ones so large they could only be seen from above. Snapping out of his reverie, he looks back at Kellyn once more. "Worry not, we'll soon find your skill. Even if it lies not in metal."
He gets up and walks over to his iron tools, making a quick shape of them in his head. He opens another hidden compartment filled with iron scraps, and he uses his magic to make smaller replicas of the important ones before modifying them to be held in the mouth of a wolf instead of the hands of a Loka. ((I can't remember what I was doing when I typed this earlier... I can't quite continue this today. Sorry I didn't really present much for her to react to.))

((Kellyn cannot ignore her sight, it's always there and it doesn't bother her as it did when she was a pup. And she doesn't focus on any of them because it hurts, more it's like standing in a busy pedestrian sidewalk and just observing all of them. She can choose to ignore certain things she sees but that's about it. It would be like closing your eyes and trying not to listen to everything. But her escape is very typical wolf, she loves to run and she loves the feel of the hunt.)) [glow=blue,2,300]Kellyn watched Niphanos seeing his determination. But she could already see where this would go. Frowning she followed him. "My skill is not in creation. I hunt, I fight, and I run. That is the life of a wolf. Now and then I sing." She didn't think the dragon had the concept of just what she was. Wolves were not creators. At least she wasn't. Because of her sight she was good at hunting and best at fighting, and because she was wolf, sh enjoyed doing those things. Her white eyes were troubled though none could look at them and tell. Kellyn wagged her tail and smiled hoping to lure the dragon away from his determination to find her skill. "I'm hungry anyway, so let me show you what I'm good at." She had no clue if Niphanos would let it go or if she would have to try just prove to him she would never be able to create such things of beauty. It was not her place in this world, it was for those like him. Still she continued to hope that he would understand. [/glow]
