A Hunting Trip (Open)

Eichi crouched and prowled slowly along the ground around he stream. This area was great for hunting. Her nose picked up the scent of rabbit ahead. Her sightless eyes turned to about where it would be. She prowled forward carefully, listening for changes in the rabbit's posture, one way to tell if it knew she was there. She readied herself for the final leap to catch it. She jumped forward, thought she had caught something, and bite down on the rabbit. But all she tasted was leaves. "Dammit, I missed," she thought angrily.

With a snarl, Eichi left the rabbit and made her way to the stream, where she lapped up some water. She then lay down next to the stream, knowing it would be hell for her old bones to lift her up again, but at the moment wasn't caring. Eichi was good at most things, even without her sight. The one thing she wasn't good at, however, and which her growling stomach would always ascertain to, was hunting.

Ashi circled the stream, searching for yet another lonely meal. Letting her eyes scan the landscape, she immediately spotted two large rabbits. "Lovely," Ashi breathed, crouching in the undergrowth. With a quick dash, one rabbit lay dead at her paws. Not willing to give up the chance of more food, Ashi effortlessly chased down the other rabbit, and soon carried it back to the other. Ashi was about to start eating, when she heard breathing a short distance away. scooping up her kill in her jaws, Ashi maneuvered over to the sound. Beside the stream lay a blue wolf with large wings, her stomach growling. cautiously, Ashi walks up to her and places one rabbit in front of her nose.

Eichi smelled the stranger before she heard her. It was a female demon wolf with...rabbits. "Probably those rabbits I let go," Eichi tnought angrily.

The stranger seemed friendly, and the rabbit was most likely being offered to her. "But think about it," she thought, "You're ACCEPTING food from someone else! What happened to the wolf who used to do everything on her own?" Eichi sighed; her pride could shove it, she was hungry. "Thank you," Eichi bowed her head in the direction the wolf's sent was coming from. She graciously took a bite out of the rabbit. "My name is Eichi, what's your's?"

A blaze of red streaks past them, leaving a trail of red light and steam as it circles around for what looks like another pass. At the last moment, what turns out to be a black wolf snaps it's wings open, alighting neatly on the streambank with a hiss of steam. The red markings that cover his black fur glow like hot coals, casting a strange light over everything close to him.
"Hello, ladies. What brings you to this dreary neck of the woods?"

Ashi stared at the black wolf for a second, then swiftly turns her head to Eichi and states, "My name is Ashi." Turning her head back to the black wolf, she said, "I was just hunting...you?"

Navanic yawned, a lick of flame escaping his jaws as he replied.
"Looking for adventure. Not much going on in this swamp, though. It's nothing compared to the Fire Wells."

"Be careful, if you look for adventure, you might just find it." Eichi said seriously. She knew first hand how one could waste their life adventuring.

[Adurnak]

The carefree light in Navanic's eyes faded for a moment as he replied, his tone oddly serious.
"Yeah, I get that a lot. Tell me this, though; if you knew you only had one more day to live, what would you do? Who would you want to visit one last time? What would you regret? You only get one life, ya know? Make the most of it. Have fun.

"I'll answer all those questions seriously. I wouldn't want to do anything because I did it all. I wouldn't see anyone because all of my friends are either dead or have abandoned me. And I would regret everything I did in my life. But I'll level with you. I used to say that too."Senka shook her head sadly "Then I lost my sight. I can't see you, or the stream next to me, or even the clouds in the sky. But I wasn't looking for adventure, I was looking for revenge."

Ashi blinks slowly, bewildered. A wolf seeking adventure, and a wolf seeking revenge. "Aren't those the same thing?" Ashi thought to herself. Ashi didn't know. She shook her head and calmly addressed Eichi. "What kind of revenge? I'll gladly tag along if you'll have me."

Eichi let out a low chuckle. "No, I already got the revenge. But the demon I was trying to kill blinded me, so I was the loser in that situation." Eichi raised her muzzle to feel the breeze. "But I feel that my handicap has only made me smarter. You know what they say, 'What doesn't kill you can only make you stronger.'" Eichi dipped her head, thinking of the rabbit Ashi caught for her. At the moment she didn't feel stronger, just hopeless.
