oOc| a kind of discovery/adventure plot...a quest to find Kero's lost memory =p hope that's okay! I'm just not sure how to implement it =/
Her answer actually surprised him. It was the Zimbar breed he had been thinking of that was so familiar, but she was also half Mutatio, of all things. A large smile broke out over Kero’s square maw. “Mutatio, eh? What a happy coincidence…that is my breed too. Minus the lion part, of course.” They were a rare breed indeed, obliterated to near extinction by many age-old wars and the long wears of time. Though Kero’s family was expansive and continuing the blood, it was gratifying to meet one outside of the family.
How odd, he reflected for a moment. This Zimbar/Mutatio, this unique female, Sésuga, was such a stranger, and their meeting now could only be by the most fickle of chances. Had Kero decided not to wander through the desert now…had Sésuga not found herself here and decided to pause to speak to the rock, to be discovered…Kero couldn’t help shake the feeling that, given how much they had in common, this meeting was orchestrated by some higher power. It made him wonder if Sésuga could help him with what had been bothering him lately—with the loss of memory. She could speak to so many other objects that remained silent to him…perhaps there was an answer there somewhere…
Yet that was a lot to ask of someone he had just met. And though they were getting along quite well on the surface, they were still barely acquaintances. Not that strangers had never helped him before—in fact, Kero had often found himself in such a situation, when instant trust was required. It was a gamble, though. Kero was more interested in getting to know her first, before asking for her possible assistance that might derail her present circumstances.

The great femme was shocked when he said that he was also a Mutatio. "I never would have guessed that! I've never actually met another Mutatio in my entire lifetime." She said, grinning. How odd it was to come upon another breed like her, well, half like her. She had seen other Mutatios before, but she'd never conversed with one of them.
She raised her black head, her horns moving parallel to her muzzle. Her eyes locked on the horizon, from which the first bits of morning light were growing. She had never stayed in any packlands long enough for a creature to find her by morning's time, not that she was worried about it. She hoped that any creature that came upon them would assume that she was no problem as long as Keroberos was around.
She let her focus go back to her new friend, cocking her head to the side before she began to speak to him.
"Would you like to go on a walk, Keroberos?" She asked, sitting up. She wanted to stretch her legs. OoC: That sounds like a plan. c:[/size]

It was indeed nothing short of a miracle that they had this meeting. Or it was meant to be. Keroberos did respect Rhan, the goddess of fate, and had to believe that this acquaintance was orchestrated for a purpose. When Sésuga asked to go on a walk, he inclined his head toward her. “That sounds lovely. I didn’t have any better plans this evening.” He gave her a lopsided smile and then stood up, waiting for her to do the same before ambling along in the sand, taking an easy pace. There was no hurry for anything.
His gaze was drawn to the sky again and the stars above. What secrets did they hold for him? Why guide him to Sésuga, the amazingly unique creature she was, unless there was a purpose? When would that purpose be revealed to him? He glanced over at his companion with a gentle smile. “So…is there any gossip among the rocks and plants that you speak to? Any new rhythms or patterns that are interesting?” For all he knew, the stars could communicate with the objects below them, or the rocks could pick up whispers of the sky. Nature was chaotic, yes, but it also had its beautiful and inexplicable harmonies.

She had begun her stride, walking at a slow leisurely pace next to the orange beast. She listened to many things then, the rhythm of her own heart beat and the very faint and muffled beat of Keroberos's heart. She listened to the breeze blowing through the meagre weeds and sand of the desert. Their footsteps were the loudest thing about, and even they were not very loud at all.
Keroberos spoke then, asking of the gossip between the beings that he could not speak to. A smile crept over her mouth, and she felt a little on the proud side. She knew so much of the packs, just because of the earth. She would not let him know anything that would cause a feud between the packs to start up, but she told him some of what she knew.
"The trees speak of an odd pack that travels, lead by a black Olu. Odd creatures, they are. Like I'm one to talk. They do not like them at all; they desecrate the earth and trees. The mountains of Shinkou speak of the hurt and dead from the war. It is a sad time indeed. The rocks around these parts are discomforted. Even the smallest pebble can sense a great event or change coming, though they've no idea what it could be. That's really all that would be of interest to you, I do believe."

Kero’s long tail swished back and forth as he listened closely to what she spoke of. The first bit of gossip, so to speak, that she told was one of concern. A traveling back that sullied nature. He had heard a whisper from the wind that it was the black Ohm that started the war with his serpentine tongue, but they did not know who this possible new enemy was. It was disturbing, to say the least.
And it only got worse; the earth that Sésuga had seen was in a sorry state. The Mutatio gave a deep frown at the news. This was the sort of thing that could concern his sister-in-law, Wyndbain, though she had much to think about already. To clean up Shinkou and Akeru after the war with Giaku…to try to establish a wary armistice between them. Hardly a treaty, but a cautious agreement not to fight. Neither side had the resources to spare, and they would only end up destroying each other. Luckily, the new young leaders of Giaku recognized this too.
There was hope, though…Wyndbain survived, after all. And there was even a rumor that her sister, Fyramist, who had once led the Akeru pack before she went insane, had returned, with a stabler mind and a more unbreakable spirit. Whatever was coming…Kero had hope that they could withstand it.
Not wanting to worry Sésuga too much with these political thoughts, though, he gave her a small smile. “The wind suggests as much to me. But I do not fear for the world. Whatever darkness is descending, I am sure we can prevail.” He paused and looked up at the sky. “I wish we could speak to the stars,” he murmured. “I imagine they see all—past, present, and future. But such wisdom is not for us mortals…”

Sésuga smiled at his positive words. She knew as well as he did that Shinkou would prevail, as he had said. The male continued to speak.
The great beast of a femme lifted her head to the sky with his words. She knew it was possible to speak to the stars, she just hadn't the slightest idea how it would be done. Her stump of a tail twitched as they walked, eyes deep in thought. Her pink nostrils flared and she looked at Kero.
"I too wish that we could communicate with the stars. Can you imagine the amount of information we could gather?" She grinned, her eyes sparkling with the notion. "But you are right.. I've never known anyone to be able to speak to the stars."
She looked back at the ground for a moment and then turned to him. "Do you think anyone in your pack could have such an ability?"

Keroberos shook his shaggy head, but it was not a negative answer. “The very alpha female of this pack, Akeru, is said to have a special connection with the stars,” he murmured. “I have spoken to her once or twice…she claims that they sing to her. It would not surprise me if they pass secrets on to her as well. She is…a little off,” he admitted, with a large grin. “Even when you’re talking to her, you can see that she is in an entirely different world. So I can’t even pretend to understand what she might be thinking of.”
He had mentioned his plight to Novawing, he remembered now. And her answer had been just as cryptic as expected: You were thrown out from the sky so that the stars may keep an eye on you. That was all he got out of her. To be fair, with her pack still recovering from the war, Nova had plenty on her mind. All the same, it disturbed Kero now to think that he had been thrown out of somewhere…and the fact that the stars wanted to watch him suggested that he had been up to no good before…
He blinked and turned back to Sésuga, giving her an apologetic smile. “Then again, I am not one who is innocent of being somewhere else when someone is talking to me,” he said, chuckling. “My apologies. I only…cannot help but feel that I have business left unattended…and the stars are hiding something from me. Even though that sounds crazy.”

Sésuga listened with perked ears as he mentioned the alphess of Akeru. She hadn't seen much of her, and was curious about her ability. She looked up to the stars, which would fade from view in the next few hours as the day broke, and imagined this ability. He mentioned her being a little bit off and the mutatio cross let out a laugh.
"The best of us are a little off." She smiled, thinking on all of the odd creatures she had met in her lifetime. It was silent then, but only for a little while. The fae did not notice it very well, as she was busy imagining the abilities, and thinking over the information she had recieved in the meeting with Keroberos.
She jumped when he spoke again, having almost forgotten he was there. Her stumpy tail waggled a bit when he spoke of business he had left unnattended and secrets of the stars, but her head cocked to the side.
"What do you mean by that, Keroberos?" She asked, curious.

Of course, such a statement caused her to inquire about more. Kero glanced over at her, and it was strange to him to think that he had only just met her a short time ago. It already felt like she was a confidant. Perhaps he was being too hasty in trusting her with the deep contemplations of his mind, but he could not help but feel how truly trustworthy she was. A little sigh left him and he gave her a faint smile.
“These packlands…Akeru and Shinkou…were at war with their long-term enemy, Giaku, not long ago,” Kero remarked. “In spite of the tension that exists between them at all times, it is rare that they actually go in to battle one another. Part of the reason it all began…” He paused, closing his eyes briefly. This was hard to admit. “Part of the reason it all began was because of me. I fell from the sky into Giaku, and I was marooned there for a while, because my wings were broken and the empress wished to keep an eye on me. While I was there…I was not attacked, but I did overhear of plans to attack the Allied Packs…so I rushed home to warn the my packmates.”
His eyes grew heavy with the weight of reflection. “I do not know why I fell from the sky. That is a lost memory. Before that, all I remember is being at home, looking up at the stars—like I am doing now. I feel like there is a very large gap in my memory…that I was gone for days, perhaps weeks, before I tumbled out of the air.” He shook his head. “It is very unsettling to think of such a mystery in my own life. I do not know what I have seen or done…”
