soft...
The world lay so still, the wind gently caressing the land, the golden rippling of tall grasses a shushing peacefullness, an undisturbed melody so quiet, you almost needed to listen with something other than one's ears. An endless beat, throbbing deep within the earth, the serene thunder of life buried within Gaia's breast. Near the horizon lay the towering sentinals of stone gray and shadowy violet, guarding the land until time ground them down to dust, becoming one again with the land that had gave birth to them in a firey spray of molten soul and passion. The innocent blue shield of the sky above, slowly turning to the pink of a maiden's blush, along with the subtle orange glow of her lover, the sun, as he gently kissed her goodnight. Opposite him, his sister began to rise, ready to begin her dance with the stars, the milky way her gown, silvery and black as velvet.
And this was observed by two orbs the color of jade, hard as steel, devoid of all emotion, except for the faint glimmer of sorrow, deep within, shoved into a corner so that it was hidden in shadow. Long, silky fur surrounded the eyes and covered the body, soft as down, yet warm enough to keep one warm through the harshest winter. Silver, scar-like stripes adorn the left aud and right front leg, stark against the cool blackness of the fur. Steel catches the last glimpse of the sun, a light without the great star's warmth, without the love of life, two rings paired together upon the non-marked ear, carved with sharp runes, jagged and undefined. Maw parts as a yawn is expelled, revealing the sharp canines that so easily tear flesh, stained slightly yellow with old blood.
Though the wolf's body is clean, his soul is not. The past is a wretched thing, harrying you until you cannot resist, and you wallow in your misery until someone pulls you out. And here he lays, in the quiet twilight, drowning in his dark soul and learning how to swim the treacherous waters of his own guilt, so as not to drown... but he can't help wondering what it's like to be happy.
