Phoebus let out an overdrawn sigh of relief. He spread his wings and again took off into the air. "About time we did something I like. Walking is far too slow." Zues laughed softly at the bird's words. The Defender seemed to be one of the silent types, much prefering to watch and help then speak his mind. Slowly his black and red wings stretched out before he too powered forth into the air. His body rose up as he circled above with Phoebus, waiting for the other's to join them so that they could begin their search.
Hawk awoke from his stupor and noticed he was staring at Istariel. Yet her sigh gave him the impression that she did not approve of his gaze. For reason even he did not know, he found this to be a sorrowful thought. What was wrong was him? Yet Fiendark and Azarak drew his attention back to the present with their words. The golden warrior simply gave a nod before he too took to flight. Those powerful, golden wings of his brought him from the ground as he sighed to himself. He must keep his head in the present and out of his mind. He had to find Ammolite.

For reasons of her own, as Istariel took flight (it was very strange to see a flying panther with three long tails), she decided to keep close to Hawk. She said nothing, though. There was nothing that could be said. They were on a mission to save their friend. Ammolite was all that mattered. Ammolite. Ammolite.
Hawk matters too...no. Wait. Istariel, what is your problem? She shook herself from the thoughts. This was too strange. She flew to the other side of Hawk, so that she was between him and Zues. "You speak little," she observed to Zues. I hardly know him.
With Azarak on his head and his maw set in a grim line, Fiendark was driven. He knew he had to find his daughter and save her from that thief, that bastard who called himself Spectre. But he knew he would be giving himself up for another eternity in the Spirit World. And this time, there would be no escape. But it was all worth it. For Ammolite. For Ammolite.
"My, my, Ammolite, I did not expect to run into you so soon after the last time we met..." Spectre's smile was gentle and friendly. "Where's your friend, that bird? And your father - did you end up finding him?"
"Spectre..." She opened her eyes and found herself gazing into the placid green eyes of a familiar, handsome wolf. She broke into a relieved smile. "Oh, I'm so glad it's you...I was afraid I'd be wandering alone forever...oh, Spectre...I'm stuck here. I found my father, and he helped us...but I had to go away. And..." She sighed forlornly. "Thank goodness that I found you! Or, rather, you found me. I'm so glad I won't have to be alone..."
Spectre's smile widened and his eyes sparkled. "Oh, Ammolite, you will never be alone..."

Zues chuckled at the words that Istariel spoke to him. His head turned to face her, his brow quirked. The bulky mascu continued to fly through the air with ease. "I speak only when it is necessary. Those who speak their thoughts too much loose the sancuary of their minds."
Phoebus flew through the air quickly. Every so often he would slow down so the other's could catch up before again gaining a dangerous amount of distance between him and the group. A few times he would call back to the other's beckoning for them to quicken the pace. The bird was intent on finding Ammolite before that Spectre fellow got to her.
Every so often during their flight, Hawk would find himself looking at Istariel. He did not know why he was so fascinated with her. The mascu did his best to purge the thoughts from his mind though. He needed to focus on finding Ammolite. He needed to help his friend. Yet every time he relaxed his mind, he would again find himself looking at Istariel. What is wrong with me?!

Istariel thought she could feel Hawk's gaze on her at times, but decided to ignore it. This is not happening. We've got to focus on finding and rescuing Ammolite. Ammolite. Hawk's got to be concentrating on Ammolite too...right? She blinked and instead smiled at Zues's words. "You're right," she agreed, "and you're much the wiser for believing so. Others would do well to follow your philosophy." She turned her gaze pointedly at Phoebus as she said this.
Spectre. When I find him, I will personally tear him apart limb by limb, then scatter his remnants to the winds and watch as they go all around the world as the landscape changes. That thief, that dastard, that foul, horrendous...pedophile. Fiendark swallowed nervously. I hope that I'm wrong about that one. Oh, Ammolite!
Ammolite smiled at Spectre. "You know your way around the Spirit World, don't you? I'm so lucky that you found me. You're so kind, and good to me. I'd rather be with you than with some crazy Spirit World inhabitant who wants to devour me." She grinned.
Spectre chuckled. "Lucky you are, indeed. But come, tell me. Why are you stuck here? What has happened? I hope you are alright." He took a step closer and looked into Ammolite's eyes intently. He repeated, "I hope you are alright."
"Oh! Yes, I'm fine." Ammolite felt herself blushing at Spectre's attention and concern. "Thank you for caring. But I'm not really sure how I got here. I just remember helping Daddy heal all the cave-demons, and then he told me I can't return to my body and next thing I know, I'm here, and you're here, and..." Tears started to well up in her eyes and she whispered, "Spectre, I'm scared."
He moved closer to her, so that she could feel his body warmth, even though they technically did not have bodies here. "You need not fear," he murmured tenderly. "You're here, with me. Everything will be alright."

Phoebus looked back at Istariel with when she spoke. He had happened to be nearby when her words had flowed into the air. The bird of prey put on a comical look of pain. He put his wing to his chest and let himself fall a few feet before snapping his wings back out. Slowly he swooped up before carefully landing on the cave-demon princess' back. "I thought you liked my stories young lady? Are you insinuating that I am a loud mouth?" Zues chuckled at the words Phoebus spoke before letting his own vocals flow fluidly from his lips. "No dear Phoebus, I don't think she was insinuating that. I believe she just about out right and said it."
Hawk finally was able to drive his mind off Istariel. He did so by scanning the terrain below. The moments went on and on in silence for the golden wolf. Yet each minute that passed, he felt as if something was ominously growing on the horizon. Almost like the feeling one might get before a large storm. His glowing ocular organs continued to watch the area beneath them. He desperately hoped that they would find Ammolite soon. Not only did he want to help his friend, but he felt rather uncomfortable in this realm.

"Don't get me wrong," Istariel said, grinning. "I love your stories, Phoebus. I just wish you didn't have so many of them! Or rather, that you wouldn't feel the urge to share every single idiosyncrasy Hawk's great-great-grandfather possessed." She glanced at Hawk, who was observing the world, and sighed inwardly. She could never figure out if he was watching her, or if it was only her wistful imagination. Wistful? I am surely not suggesting that I would like him to look at me appraisingly and affectionately? Because I don't. No. Well, now that I've cleared that up with myself... She smiled uneasily at Zues, feeling awkward with her thoughts. She didn't like the feeling.
Fiendark shook himself free of his thoughts and flew closer to Hawk. "You, friend, appear deep in thought," he observed. "May I inquire, or is it none of my business?"
Spectre suddenly looked up, his eyes narrowing and his nostrils flaring. "Let's get away from here, Ammolite. I sense something dangerous coming. We'd best escape while it's still far off." Indeed, Spectre had sensed Fiendark approaching, although they were still a far distance away. But he wanted to get away from the rescue team. He hoped that a landscape change would occur soon, which would throw them off and give him just enough time. Just enough time with Ammolite to do what he needed to do.
"Oh no!" Ammolite uttered a cry of dismay. "Well, I'm glad you were able to sense it. Spectre, lead the way; I don't want to encounter any dangerous creatures from this world." She shivered just thinking about it. Why did Daddy and Azarak and Hawk and Istariel leave me here? I miss them. I miss them so much. Oh, Daddy...Hawk... She could not help but think of Hawk fondly. But just thinking about her good friend brought tears to her eyes. She was never going to see him again...she never even had the chance to say goodbye...she finally pulled herself free of such morose thoughts and smiled at Spectre. At least I've got him to protect me in this dreadful land. "Lead the way, Spectre," she said, "and hurry, please."

"Hmmph! Well in case you have not noticed, everyone one of my stories does have a meaning behind it. You can learn alot from the past. I remember Hawk's great grandmother used to feel the same about my stories. Not a very bright girl mind you...." And there the bird went off again. Talking about how if the long dead femme had just listened to him and his stories she would not have been ravaged by a young male and made to settle down from her adventures. Zues looked over to the bird and watched with a look of honest interest. His pointed ears remained raised as he listened.
Hawk looked over to Istariel once again. Yet when Fiendark drew near, he quickly diverted his gaze over to the other. Those golden eyes of his looked to Azarak for a moment before forlornly dropping to the world below once more. "I wish what I had on my mind was easy to say. It is a matter of the heart, or so I think. I do not know to be honest. I promise that I will explain once we find Ammolite. By the way, are you sure we are still on the right course? What if she moved or something?"

Istariel could not help but smile and began listening to Phoebus's story despite herself. But her ears twitched and she overheard one thing Hawk mentioned - "a matter of the heart," he said, and then she couldn't hear anymore. For some reason, her heartbeat quickened when she heard that. Oh, no. I am definitely not falling for Hawk. Maybe I need to start paying more attention to Phoebus's stories, if they're so helpful in "matters of the heart" as he claims. Having thought thus, she started listening intently to his story, though her mind was easily distracted.
Fiendark lifted a brow at Hawk but had the good grace not to inquire further. Instead, he smiled half-heartedly at Hawk's question. "It's okay. Azarak and I are tuned in to Ammolite's location now. Even if she moves, we'll know, and be able to change our course accordingly. As a matter of fact..." His opal amulet glittered and Fiendark's eyes flashed. "She is moving now. Rapidly, too. This way," he called to the others, angling his flight to a more western direction.
"Spectre! Are we safe now?" Ammolite asked, panting only a little when she caught up with her guide. They had arrived at a grove of trees, nondescript except for the silver-blue leaves and the golden trunks.
"We will be, Ammolite, never fear," Spectre said smoothly. The light of the sky began to darken and swirl dangerously. Spectre grinned. "Landscape change. Hurry, Ammolite, get close to me." He moved over to her and wrapped his large wings around her, and she, surprised, moved into the embrace. A few moments later the land around them blurred and they were repositioned.
Ammolite glanced around her. This was completely different. The trees were thicker and darker, vines hung everywhere, and it was very hot. "It's like a jungle," she whispered. "Amazing."
"Whoa!" Azarak said suddenly. "No, Fiendark, she's moved again - damn, I bet a landscape change occurred. Now she's...what? Southeast or something? We've got to turn around!" He yelled at everyone else. Fiendark obliged, reorienting on the proper direction.

Yet Phoebus did not draw on with his stories as usual. As they were ordered to change courses, the hawk took to flight. Zues also changed where he was. He dropped beneath the group and flew there, using his eyes to scan over the earth.
Hawk quickly turned with the other's. When he went to look below, he found himself looking at Zues. With both of his emotional vents gone, the mascu could not help but look at Istariel with an almost dreamy look. Look at her. So graceful, so beau- GAH Listen to me The mascu shook his head and did his best to focus on something else. He became rather interested with the horizon.

Istariel definitely felt Hawk's gaze on her, and felt heat rising to her cheeks. But instead of veering around and confronting him, as she should have, she decided to avoid him. Oh, what is going on? I'm the princess of the cave-demons and he's just an ordinary wolf. Well, not ordinary. He's very admirable and strong and determined...oh, stop, Istariel. I'm a princess. He's a wolf. End of story. Instead, she started a conversation with Zues. "So, Zues, did you ever have a lover?" What did I just ask him? Istariel, you're losing your touch. She blushed. "Oh goodness, that sounded very intrusive, didn't it...you don't have to answer, of course, I just want to...know-more-about-you-because-you-hardly-ever-speak." Smart, Istariel, really very smart follow-up there. She hoped Hawk didn't overhear.
Azarak's eyes narrowed. "Fiendark, I have a feeling that, with the landscape change, our situation just got much worse...we're flying over the jungle again. That can't be good."
"Hush, Azarak, or the others will get worried," Fiendark replied absently. "It's the jungle, you're right. But nothing bad will happen, because she's not with Spectre. I'm sure Spectre hasn't found her yet." But he could not convince himself of this. He had a very uneasy feeling in his stomach.

Zues looked up to Istariel at the query she posed to him. Instead of being offended, the mascu simply offered her an innocent smile. Slowly his head shook as he began to speak. "No. I was kidnapped at a young age and made into an Elite. I never was able to taste the sweet fruit of freedom because me and Thor gave our lives for the others. It is rather refreshing to be aiding those who need my help rather than to be hurting the very same beings. I have done alot of bad things in my life, I only hope I can atone for those horrid sins I have performed.."
Hawk had heard the question Ammolite had asked. His heart sank somewhat. He looked at the cave-demon princess for a moment as he argued with himself in the convines of his mind. See? She doesn't like you. She likes Zues. I mean look at him. He's strong and proud and kind. Zues is the better choice.. But I am those things too. What am I thinkinh? She is a princess. Why would she want to get involved with me?...You have to remember, you are a Disciple of Ra. You are no ordinary creature...yes, but in the eyes of her people I am not even a peasant. She is royalty, I have no chance. And what about Ammolite..Yes....what about Ammolite....

oOc| Oho, so Ammolite's just a second choice, eh? -wink-
Istariel listened sympathetically, her heartstrings pulled by Zues's sad tale. Of course, all of the Defenders shared the same kind of tale...including Hawk. She shoved that thought away. "You are fortunate to have been given a second chance," she reminded Zues. "Although, I would imagine such self-sacrifice would have been enough to atone for your prior sins..." She paused, feeling uncomfortable. What did she know about self-sacrifice and terrible guilt staining her soul? She amended, "I can speak for all here, and we are very grateful for your aid, especially considering the fact you hardly know us...or Ammolite."
"We are near," Fiendark said suddenly and loudly, so everyone could hear. "I can sense her...provided the landscape doesn't treacherously change, we should be by my daughter's side within the half-hour." And then... He knew what would come next.

Zues shook his head slowly after Istariel spoke to him. "No it was not enough to atone, for you see I sacrificed myself to save my fellow sinners which any of us would have done for one another. That is the same reason I come here to help you strangers. You are friends to Brother Hawk and thus you are friends to me. The bond we Defenders have always held is uncanny and strong. You can not understand the disturbing fact that Tagger managed to break that bond and slaughter his brothers."
Hawk growled softly at the mention of Tagger. Luckily the thought of that vile creature managed to push Istariel to the back of his mind which he was grateful for. "Do not even mutter that name Zues. Tagger is long dead, what he is now is not our brother.." There was such sorrow, such pain the mascu's words. When Fiendark spoke, Hawk simply nodded his head. The golden wolf flew silently, lost in his own thoughts. Slowly Phoebus flew over and pecked the wolf's head. Yet it was to no avail, Hawk did not come back to the world from his thoughts. Not yet atleast.

oOc| Ach...I jest, I jest ^^ I don't mean anything I say ooc-ly too seriously x3
Istariel nodded; though the depth of such bonds were beyond her, she could appreciate their importance. She twitched and turned around, startled by the vehemence in Hawk's tone. I have never been that hateful of anyone. I have never met anyone so detestable. I count myself lucky in that, and yet it distances me from ever understanding these Defenders...from understanding Hawk...what passions drive him so. She had nothing to say to either Zues or Hawk, so remained silent as she flew over the bizarre land.
"I smell him," Fiendark hissed, furious. How could I have been such a fool? Trust is what got me into this problem in the first place; it is only sinking me deeper. I trusted that Spectre would not find her, but I know now he is very close to her. She is following him. Trust will betray her like it did me! "Why must we be so trusting?" he said aloud, both angry and despairing. "Why must trust be so treacherous?"
I smell him, Spectre thought, anxious. He turned to Ammolite and smiled serenely. "How are you doing? We've been traveling a lot, and I know landscape changes can be exhausting. But if it makes you feel any better, there is this...place I know where we can stay and rest. We're close to it now."
Ammolite, who indeed was getting a little weary, returned Spectre's smile. "Oh yes, that sounds delightful. I never thought being a mere spirit could be so tiring!" She trusted him. She trusted him completely, put herself totally in his paws. For about the thousandth time, she amended, "I'm so glad you're here with me, Spectre."

Hawk looked over to Istariel forlornly, getting the impression she was lost within her own thoughts. He felt compelled to drift closer to her and perhaps even offer her comfort. The very though make his heart race. Yet before he could move to perform such an action, he looked over Fiendark. Had the demon gone mad? Yet quite suddenly Phoebus took flight from Hawk's back and soared down to the ground at a rapid pace.
Phoebus grew to an enormous size as he shot like an arrow to the ground. By the time he neared the earth, he was the size of a young dragon. Quite suddenly he landed before Spectre and Ammolite, his fierce eyes glaring at the devious creature who dared to try and steal the innocent soul of one of his friends! Anger boiled in the bird's veins as he snapped his beak, putting on a cold british accent. "'Ello Oo"
OOC: Hehe even when he's mad Phoebus makes me laugh.
