((I can't write for flaming fishsticks anymore...pardon, please, on the shortness and lameness on my posts.))
Patchwork fur tousled in the cool wind, the male momentarily shut his lids, inhaling deeply the scent of the three females. He sensed a current of tension in the air, faint but still noticeable, even as the zephyr soothed his anxious bearing. The worry lines that had appeared on his face while he watched over Andraste slipped away, leaving a small, blissful smile in their wake.
A mental shock jolted Rex, forcing him to reopen his azure orbs. He focused on the previously ailing Andraste as she moved toward a tree. Eyes caught a flash of cobalt on her; the male blinked forcefully and stared, yet he couldn't sight it again.
"My mind, losing, must I be," Muttering quietly, Rex turned his intense gaze onto the turquoise female who had revived Andraste. Cranium angled at her, his strawberry gold ears drifting slightly in her direction to catch her name.

“Andraste…” Echo repeated, eyes widening with the implications of the name. “Oh! Andraste! How much you’ve grown and changed, I…I remember you, of course, but you were so young then, so…I failed to recognize you,” she admitted, trying not to feel too ashamed. “Andraste! How did you come to be here? You must tell me, I am here to listen.” The elder female took a step forward and nuzzled Andraste affectionately, almost like a mother would a grown child. She stepped back and smiled faintly, still dealing with the pain she had relieved Andraste of, but happy, at least, for this reunion.
“Well,” Ivory said after a pause. “Now that everything is peachy keen once again, I suppose no one will be needing me, so I’ll just away.” She did not say this to gain attention or to beg for an invitation to stay. She really did feel as though her presence was unnecessary now. She delivered Echo to the dying wolf, and now they were enjoying a reunion, of sorts. For Echo seemed to be very familiar with this Andraste. “Have a nice life,” she added, wanting to show her goodwill. It is so very wonderful, she thought, observing the other three wolves. Echo is like Andraste’s mother…and since Rex has taken such a shine to her, they can act as parents and they’ll have a beautiful family together. Things always work out for other people. She began to earnestly move away from the pleasant scene, where she was sure she did not belong.

Andraste smiled and nudged Echo back. She was so glad to find her again. She nodded and began to explain.
"Well, I had accidentally teleported myself to the place of my mother's death, but I remembered my way, and found my way here. On the way, I . . . changed."
She moved from the tree so her wings were again visible. The dark blue wings swirled with aquamarine blue, a lovely sight in the brilliant sunlight. Her midnight fur shone blue, and the markings on her legs seemed to swirl actively in the moving sunbeams. The breeze blew through her thick fur, and her icy blue eyes gazed lovingly at Echo.
Turning suddenly, she stepped forward bashfully, looking longingly at Ivory. "Oh . . . won't you stay?" she pleaded. "You . . . remind me of my sister, Starlight. Her fur was the same colour as yours, only, the tips of it was gold . . . she was radiant like starlight, and her eyes were as gold as the sun . . . I miss her, but you remind me of her, and you make me happy," she explained, smiling shyly.

oOc| I was waiting for WaltzingShadows to reply...but maybe she's not going to be on much more, so I can post now.
Echo listened, her eyes slightly widened, to Andraste’s tale, and shook her head a little. “You certainly changed. I did not recognize you at all. You are amazingly beautiful, Andraste. I admire your wings.” She smiled a little. “I am sorry to hear about your mother. But you have persevered miraculously, and now I shall do everything I can to ensure your safety and security here. You need not worry anymore.”
While Echo was not overcome with instantaneous, unconditional love for Andraste as the younger wolf was for her, she still felt a fondness and desire to help as best she could. She turned her gaze away briefly, to hide the single tear that lay quivering there. She is like a daughter I never had, may never have, she thought. And, remembering her lost love, she began to sing a deep song of the eternity of love, trying to heal the hole in her heart as well as lift the pain from her companions.
When she finished, she looked at Ivory, hoping she had affected her. “Please, stay,” she said softly. “You underestimate yourself and your goodness.” And Echo also looked at Rex, wondering what he thought of all this.
Ivory snorted. These holier-than-thou wolves think their goodness can rub off on me! “I appreciate the sentiments, really,” she answered sincerely, looking from Andraste to Echo. “And I am glad to have brought happiness to you, Andraste, for my similarity to your sister. But I think you overestimate what I can do.”
And she would have left, but the lingering effects of Echo’s song made her hesitate further. She let out a frustrated sigh and looked at Rex, as if he could explain everything to her. But there were no answers. Ivory grumbled irritably. “I’ll stay until all three of you get yourselves settled, but then I’m gone.” I should have been gone long ago. Damn these sanctimonious angels! You can’t say no in the face of a child, you can’t be selfish around them.

ooc: Well. That took awhile. bic: Mystic blushed under her fur, then smiled loving at Echo. "You know, I don't really mind loosing my mother. I never really know her," she said softly. She gasped sharply as Echo began to sing, then began to sing along with her, although her voice was hoarse and raspy conpared to Echo's. She stopped howling just in time to see Ivory prepare to leave. "No, please . . . don't leave. I miss my sister so much . . ." she studdered.

oOc| Yeah, I'm sorry...I keep thinking Waltzing Shadows is going to come back, but maybe not so much.
“I’m staying, I’m staying,” Ivory grumbled, though not half as irritably as she normally would be. “Good gracious, do we have to stand about on the outskirts of Shinkou Ookami all day long? This is absurd…we have to get you all a nice cave or something. C’mon, Rex, we’ll just go in now.” Without waiting for anyone else, the curt wolf headed back the way she’d come, into the mainland of the wolf pack.
Echo shook her head but smiled at Ivory’s shortness and reluctance to show sentimentality. “She’s right,” she said gently. “You have waited so long for a real home…I won’t make you wait any longer. Let us go; I have a small place you in which you may like to stay.” Smiling fondly at Andraste, Echo beckoned to her, leading her after Ivory to her home.
oOc| I humbly apologize for the amount of time it took to reply...and for its shortness. x.x

Andraste smiled gleefully. "I'm so glad you'll stay!" she said, beaming. She nodded and followed Echo like a lamb.
