The wind wrapped tightly around his thin but large body as he flew through the air with his eyes wide and ready to spot any sign of life. Empollan had been here for a couple of weeks but had felt it better to keep himself hidden for awhile. Empollan knew that not many of his kind were still around and that the sight of one would cause a stir within the land of Shinkou, or so he thought. His large dragon-like wings moved swiftly ever so often stopping so he could glide silently through the air. It had been awhile sense Empollan had feasted and he was in major need of food. His deep, golden eyes scanned the ground as his large dragon-like talons stretched out. At that very moment Empollen saw a slight movement out of the corner of his eye. Feeling the blood rush through his veins as he saw a large, male elk silently grazing upon the thin grass that grew on the snowy flats of the mountains. Tucking his wings to his side he began to dive, his jowls open wide and his slob flying out of his mouth as he rushed down. Talons were open wide and ready to grab the prey right from its spot of grazing.
Talons dug into the flesh of the elk as he felt it kick and scream violently. He griped harder and harder until the elk stopped moving and its heart stop beating. Swooping lower to the ground he dropped his prey and then flew back into the air and then swiftly turned around and started toward the earth once more. Empollan hit the ground running and then slid to to a stop beside his prey. It only took seconds before the prey had vanished and was now sliding down his throat and settling into his belly. He let out a groaning snarl and then let his maw form a O and let out a long, bellowing howl which scared the birds from there very nests and sent them screaming into the air. He needed something to do, something to play with.
