Down below the mountains, about ten metres from the nearest den, sat a bloody massicare staining the snow red. The largest form was of a beautiful wolfess, her fur was jet-black with what could be described as crimson flames licking her haunches. Upon her back was a set of wings, they were wrapped around her frame in agony. Blood poured out of a wound in her side as well as through hole punctures that had pierced her neck only a moment before. Above her he looked down, his eyes flaring with a passion for the kill. Smirking, the wolf raised his head and let out a juvenile laugh. "That is what you get Shakaku. How dare you abondon our pack and me. The cost is death, for you and..." The wolfess, Shakaku growled, the build up of saliva and blood in her throat bubbled as she did so. "NOT THEM! They are your flesh and blood too!" "What good do I have for them? They look famished. Besides, why would I want anything that came out of the likes of you!" Shakaku could feel herself slowly fading. Her heart was slowing to a faint beat and her vision was blurred. The next few moments passed with the sound of cries as one by one her pups were picked up, their necks locked in the jaws of their father, before being tossed into the rocks nearby. "You won't get away with this." The wolf left. Four puppies lay dead, the mother still breathing but barely. Slowly two blue eyes appeared in the shadows and a small pup quickly rushed to her mother's side. "Im dieng. Listen Dakota, someone else is going to have to look after you now. In the future Dakota you find him, your father. Make sure our deaths are avenged." Dakota didn't know what avenged meant exactly, but she nodded. "Yes Mum. Now get up!" But no answer came from her mother who drifted into oblivion. The ruby-red pup just sat there. She was four weeks old, old enough to be starting on meat and to be running quite well on all fours. But she surely could not survive on her own. She pulled her black wings around her and sighed, laying beside her dead mother. She fell asleep on the ground, her mother and siblings scattered around her in pools of their own blood.

Isol & Ice
Isol was in her wolven form, running beside her companion, Ice. She was a large wolf, black with some white streaks down her back. Ice was all-white, and stood out terribly next to Isol, who stood out terribly against the snow. They darted through trees, chasing down a small, frightened animal. Ice stopped, with Isol following shortly after, their ears pricking forward. Isol took the lead, instructing Ice to follow her. She stopped, near the edge of the woods, seeing the father killing off the mother and her pups. She snarled, jumping forward in a rage, but Ice stopped her. She tried to get past her, but Ice was persistant. She glared past her, waiting for her to let her by... Ice was by no means willing to let Isol run off to meet the male. Looking at what he had done to the other femme, she feared that if Isol faced him, she would die. Finally, when he left, she stepped aside, noticing with a shock that one of the pups was still alive. She lay next to her dead mothers body, and together, both Ice and Isol walked up to her. They stared solemnly at the scene for a moment, then Ice spoke, her voice soft and tinkling.
"Come, child..." she said gently.
"We will not harm you. Your mother and siblings are dead. Unless you wish to join them, I suggest you come with us..."

At first the large ebony femme startled her. She didn't know that she could trust the two but weighing it up, she decided that she didn't have a choice in the matter. Dakota lifted her head and pranced over to them, sniffed them and nodded.
"Well you didn't come with him" she remarked, referring to her father. "So I guess..." One way to look at it she decided, was that if they had of wanted to kill her why hadn't they done it already?
She fluttered her wings twice, her legs lifting off the ground but only for about a second or two. Though she was upset she knew that this wasn't the end for it and that gave her some comfort.
"Where are we going?" she asked, staring out into the distance. She frowned, for now showing no sadness in her expressions. Whatever was going through her head was unreadable.

Isol forced herself to smile, for the child's sake. "Wherever the wind takes us. We don't have a particular place to settle down... Yet." Ice nodded her head in agreement. Isol stood up, surveying the area with anger in her eyes, then asked the pup, "Would you like to give your family a good burial? I can do that for you.."
With that, wind seemed to ripple across her fur, and her body distorted, changing to her anthro form. She walked over to the pups that had been killed, gently placing them beside the mother. She glanced over at the pup, still attempting a smile.
Ice could see that Isol was having trouble not going after the father. Her usually bouncy, happy, excited mood had deminished to nothing. She was almost shaking with anger. The tender way she held the recently killed pups also, in a way, expressed her feelings. She looked to her, her stare both sympathetic for her feelings of anger, and warning her not to pursue the murderous father.
She could only hope she would heed the warning.

The pup could sense it -- the anger, the rage. She felt it too but more so the sadness. A dark sadness that left her heart feeling empty for everything that she had even loved and trusted had been stolen from her.
These strangers were angry, they must have had good hearts. Ni matter how much they tried not to express it to her she could read it very well. She was very well educated for her age, not that her vocabulary was that great, nor her reflexes and general physical aspects. As a pup she was well-informed and had a huge amount of knowledge. She was quick to pick up on things such as expressions, actions and feelings.
"It's okay. It'll come for him." She truly believed this. Karma, one of the many things her mother had taught her. She knew that in her future she would track him down any way just to be sure.
"Thanks. Thanks. Both of you." She let out a deep sigh. She knew that she would rise again for because of these wanderers she had not been abondoned. Still, these memories...they were scarred deep in her heart.

Isol looked at the pup in surprise when she mentioned that her father had it coming, so to say. This time, a real smile spread across her maw. "You've got that right, little one... Now, may I ask you your name?" After the reply, she started to introduce herself, but Ice interrupted. "I'm Ice, a water- and, obviously, ice-wielding wolf, and this is Isol, a young but fiery-spirited and optimistic slash joyful werewolf." Isol sighed, a kind of friendly love flashing in her eyes as she waved away Ice's comment about her. "Now, child. Is there any particular way you bury your... Deceased?"

"Dakota" the pup replied. She heard the introductions and then nodded. As they started talking about how to bury the deceased she walked forwards, away from the scene of bloody bodies. "It doesn't matter. They are dead now." Dakota said, a strangely dark tone in the small wolf's voice.

"Dakota... I kinda like that name." Upon hearing the dark tone, Isol almost chuckled. She understood. She felt the same way every time she fed on humans. Or, similar, anyway. But, no matter. She shrugged her shoulders, walking up to the pup, and sitting in front of her. She took her in, her build, everything. Noticing her wings, she asked, "Can you fly yet, Dakota?"

Dakota shrugged and fluttered the wings. She flapped and flapped but her paws were not lifted off the ground. She sat down and then took a deep breath. "Grrrrrrrr" she growled as she tried hard to lift herself off the ground, her cheeks puffed up with air and her eyes held tightly shut. Finally her wings lifted her off the ground slightly before she gasped for air and flopped back on to the ground.
"Only a little." Grumbling the pup stomped forward. "So where are we heading then?"

Ice laughed softly, and said, still chuckling, "Don't worry. You'll get it eventually." She followed the pup as she stormed off, Isol following close behind. She was chuckling herself. Though it wasn't a mean kind of chuckle, so to speak, just a... She didn't know how to explain it, even to herself. She just knew it wasn't mean. Isol was a wolf once again, and she looked to her to answer. She wasn't in charge of where they went.
"Well, I was headed towards the human lands, but now we could just go somewhere nice and settle down for a little while... We could go to Mizu Lake, a beautiful part of Shinkou Ookami... I've always liked visiting that place." [Just so people know, we went to Abunage rather than Mizu.]
