Mánu landed upon a large rock jutting from the earth. A defiant hiss rattled from its pale beak at Goth. Then the large wolf practically barked at it, causing it to jump in apparent fright, flapping its wings. Whispy white feathers drifted from its form, but dissapeared into nothing before they even landed on the ground.
"Outrage!" it continued to hiss, jumping nervously on his rock. "How dare you speak to the reaper of death that way!"
There was a reason for Mánu to be frightened. Many do not know that Mánu could still be killed, particularly with spiritual powers. Mánu could be cast away by exorcism. If that happened, Mánu's spirit would only linger long enough to find a new reaper of death. Then, he would cease to exist in the world.
Suddenly, Mánu opened its beak wide, its eyes still aglow of red; and, it gave a wild, echoing caw like the toll of a church bell announcing the coming of death.

Goth’s golden eyes glowed with a harsh light as he followed the path of the white raven. It screeched at him, but he disregarded its fury. “How dare you, reaper of death, try to trespass in the realm of life!” the mighty wolf retorted, snarling. “You can try to take me now, I do not mind—but woe be it to you! You shall not take me without a fight.” And silently, he added, or my mate. But he felt that even if he fought Mánu, he would not win the life of Raven back. Death did not work that way.Briefly, the black raven hopped away from its charge, trusting that Angel was warming up to life now that Mánu was distracted by Goth’s flare of temper. Under the darkness of night, Karasis laid a silken wing on Goth’s paw, black on black on black. Without words, it seemed to be conveying a message: Calm yourself. Picking a fight with Mánu will not help you or your beloved. Death will come when it will; life will be granted as well. In Karasis’s clear blue eyes, there was a loving smile.

OOC: Mwahaha, look what I did! It's Mánu! Photomanipulated! I'm gonna photomanip Karasis next if you don't mind. Heee
Curse the distraction that Goth was causing Mánu. Alas, Karahis won this battle. Mánu's throat vibrated with a kind of growl that was apparently the sign of defeat.
"Be that as it may," said the voices, "The reaper will return... perhaps when you least expect it."
With these ominous words, the white raven spread its wings and took to the air, perhaps to look for more souls to collect. It did not leave yet, perhaps it lingered for a while longer to allow Goth his last words if he so desired to speak.

oOc| whoa snap! that's damn cool! yeah go ahead, do whatever you want with Karasis. xDGoth snarled viciously as the white raven spoke with its twin voices, trying to sound triumphant despite its current loss. Though he was glad that Mánu was taking its leave right now, his anger had been aroused. “I’ll be waiting, then!” he bellowed after the departing soul-reaper. Hardly an inspiring reply, but Goth’s eyes, blazing with cold golden fire, were enough to show how he felt about the white raven. As soon as Mánu had gone for good, however, Goth was able to calm down and turn to Karasis.
“I am sorry I lost my temper,” he said, only half meaning it. “But you understand—I am under so much stress, with Raven…” He choked. “You led me to her, O Karasis. You showed me where to go. And now—after so many centuries alone—I will have to live life without her once again…” A single crystal tear trickled from his eye, the beginning of mourning. “Tell me there is more to life, Karasis. Tell me I should not die along with her, throw myself into Mánu’s path as soon as she is gone from me.”Karasis showed no triumph in its eyes at its victory over Mánu. Though it was glad Angel had recovered, it knew that it was only a small clash against its deathly counterpart. It was more concerned for Goth, one of the very few surviving Mutatio wolves today. Karasis had borne and befriended many a Mutatio, but that was a long time ago, and now there were so few creatures who were resurrected as Mutatios were. So the black raven had some affinity for Goth.
It could not save Raven, however. Many things were beyond the bringer of life’s control and power. But it could show Goth, as he requested, a life full of golden light, even without his beloved. It reminded Goth of his children: Electra, Rakurai, Mimei, Pagan, and Celtic, all at various stages of life. It hinted a promise of grandchildren someday, and the joys that come from having a healthy, happy family. It showed Goth battles, but it knew that Goth detested killing, and so it also showed imminent peace throughout the lands. That, Karasis seemed to be saying, is good enough for anyone to live for.oOc| I dunno what to do now. x.x But dude, we should roleplay some of Goth and Raven’s kids again. haven't rped them in ages.
