Giant puffs of clouds slowly lumbered across the sky, even so light that the high wind could barely push. The illusionist orb that was the sun popped in and out from behind the moving, shape-changing white puffs of something-or-another. Few spots of blue sky dodged out from the clouds, and the edge of the forest was out of view in the calm, beautiful, perfect day. The edge of the forest lay far behind, and the mountains could not be seen. The tall grasses and flowers, barely a foot high in the winter with light snowfall, swayed in the chilly breeze of the morning, adding a sea-like view of the great feild. This beautiful day had come just after the spectacular events of last night, where a starved, beaten fae lay down at the roots of the tree and gave her body to it... She had run ever since sundown, and it had been morning, daylight, for three and a half hours now.
A lonely wolf sat in the quiet comfortness of the feild, completely uncaring about her concealment. She was out of body, and could not be seen by just anyone. Her fur was a jet black, sheening in the light of day. It had many bloody-red spots on it, in the pattern of bloodsplatter. The fur on her face was stained red in a tear pattern from the outer corner of her eyes, and her muzzle was a deep blood red. One ear, the left, had several holes in it from some bit, and her left paw looked covered in blood. Her frame was very thin, but not starving thin as it was in life, and her ribs were just barely visible. Her fur itself was slightly patchy, uneven fur longer in some patches and ithers just barely shorter. This wolf was not at all visible to most, though, unless they possessed the power to see the dead... The Spirit Eye, as it was called. She sat, pondering something, cricked tail swaying in the grass hardly disturbing it... She was waiting for something to happen, waiting for someone to chance by. ((Sorry for the crappyness, due to the restriction of words on my paper I was writing a bit ago I had to cut down on description and quality....))

(I'm gonna be lazy and not use colors at the moment. xD)
It was by chance that a single orb of a small blue flame was floating by, scavenging the area for just what was laying beside the tree. The orb shivered once and paused, as though observing this solemn looking spirit for some thing...then it suddenly dashed away, leaving nothing more than a shimmer of movement in the air with it's spiritual flames.
It was a few minutes after that, that a living being of flesh and blood could be heard slowly moving along the ground, taking his own time to reach the destination despite the insitant mood of his blue flamed partner to go faster.
A chuckle could be heard emited from the being. "Now now Core, some things take time, see?"
The wolf approached slowly, stopping a good distance from the spectral form, eyes lazily watching, surveying, judging. A smile pulled up the corners of his maw. "Hello there."

Ketsueki sat silent, never noticing the orb. Oblivious, she was in this state, staring into the horizon... The colours of the sky whom she rarely saw. She'd now have much more time, she could tell, to think, and she would plot out many things many wolves could not in light... Seperate the good and bad in everything, figure out where she was in the obviously huge world... Before, her world was from the shoreline to the mountains, and none beyond, and the valley was all that existed, and life was sinmple and easy... That was almost so long ago she couldn't rmember. As was her mother and father, hardly anything now but lost memories in the back of her mind. And her puphood, taken away at the force of claw and fang. All her innocence was robbed, but now, far, far, further into maturity she was, and all that did not manner. Now, her spiritual maturity would certainly begin.
Far in thought she was, and the voice almost did not rouse her... And the birds chirping, and the slow sun far away beyond her reach in the east, and the great, beautiful majests that were the mountain barely in the corner of her eyes, and then, all that with the voice to which provided her the perfect paradice which, three dozen hours ago, would not have been possible. Starved to death, or was it something else? Something unexplainable, but she did not have the body she had before, and she was sparred all the hurts of life, but also some of the luxories. The voice spoke nicely, reaching her ears, though one appeared shredded, softly. She sat silent for the moment, then slowly responded, the once oppressed smile now free upon her maw, "Good day, my dear sir. Beautiful as life itself."

His companion, the floating blue orb of flame, gave a soft sputter and spouted nothing more than a tiny whisp of stray fire from it's being. Difficult as it was for others who did not have similar knowledge that a shaman such as Yoh posessed to translate such an action, it could most likely be seen as some form of ghostly cough.
Yoh nodded, making the beads about his neck clink and ping as he did so. "Life certainly is beautiful, though I wouldn't go as far as to use such terminoloy as a compliment for others who have not the confidence to reflect said beauty." He slowly moved closer to her, in his small, steady steps that emited about him a lazy atmosphere. His head bobbed slowly from side to side with each tender step, gaze far off in the distance and relaxed as though he were secretly listening to some far off tune...or perhaps there really was one buzzing about in his head.
"I am Yoh, if you are curious to know. Now, I would like to hear your name, perhaps?" He finally stopped his carefree walk to stand inches before her, head lowered slightly to acknowledge her where she lay.

Ketsueki, prying her gaze from the sky and horizon and all that was the dearest to her at this moment, looked to the wolf with her eyes, a stunning greenish-tinted yellow. Light-coloured eyes often were the eyes of the dark pelted wolves. The once long ooppressed smile on her maw widened as she saw the wolf that had spoken. Elderly-looking chap, only by the way his eyes held themselves, and the beads and other things on his necklace. Apparently a wolf of high stature, but very solitary and calm. He gave her the impression of sleepfilled peace, and much meditation. Very calm. His voice, to her, seemed not much old. It was old, but not old, wisdom spoken and well thought out, slow and of course rythmatic. And to compare her little-used voice to his, it was a tweet on her end to the song on his end. Sadly, she never learned to speak very well, so often her speech was a slurry of sounds, but speech nonetheless. His words, though, she quoted in her mind, and said quite elegently and well-sounded for her slurred speech, "Who does not have the confidence? The beauty of life is even in the ugly..." That's when she spotted the orb... The orb first, then around it she could almost make out the aura --white to her untrained eye-- of a wolf around it. Just barely made up, so thin was the outline of it that she saw it one oment then not the next, but instead of continuing to entertain herself with it, she looked away, thinking; It's impolite to stare. But back to his words... Yoh, a very simple name, and quite fitting to this apparently deep wolf. She was asked her name, and for a moment she forgot it, her mouth open as if it was on the tip of her tongue. She hesitated, and then slowly slipped it out, perhaps one of the few words she made the effort to sound out thoroughly.
"My name... Ketsueki... Of the Yoshiju Mountains..."

"Ketsueki..." He spoke softly, turning his lazy stare to his partnet while he tested out the sound of the name on his tongue. He let out a breath through his nose and returned his eyes to her, "Nice to meet you. Now then..."
He stepped closer to her, spinning somewhat comicly in a half cirlce in order to adjust himself before settling down beside her.
"Is there anything I can help you with, miss?"
Core, Yoh's small floating partner, let off a small noise that was followed by a puff of smoke that soon disappeared over the tips of blue flame. It moved closer to Yoh's ear and hovered there before disappearing from even Ketsueki's sight.

Ketsueki paused a moment as he asked his question. Anything to help her with? Well, she couldn't think of anything, and so, for a second, she said nothing. She spoke finally as she saw the orb move to him, then disappear.
"There are plenty less fortunette than myself, I'd simply only need to be pointed to good company, but I think good company has found me."
Her smile faded slightly, and she turned back to the sunrise, hoping that he did not see the tear trail-shaped bloodied red markings of her face. Most often, people who saw them thought she had been crying blood, and was a devil or bad spirit of some kind. And others also thought she carried a contagious disease of the eyes... Right now, she was happy to have company, and all she wanted was company.

Yoh twitched his ears once, his maw still holding that laid back smile and lazy lids drooping down over his eyes as he looked at her.
"Well, if company was all you needed, then it was a good thing that we found you." His gaze then turned away, staring off ahead of his as his head tilted slightly to the side as if he were thinking deeply about something.
"I have an idea. Perhaps you could aid me as I have aided you. I seek out those who cannot be seen by the living and I help them find rest if they are troubled, you see. Some spirits, find discomfort in being bound to this world and may need an extra paw to get along their way, ne?" Yoh lifted his own paw in demonstration and wriggled it a bit near his muzzle.

Ketsueki turned around slowly to face him as he spoke... Yes, she was very fortunette that they had stumbled upon her. It seemed strong streak of luck had brought the recent sequence of events. Perhaps she could finally be happy, finally belong. She smiled her soft, kind, warm smile as he looked away in thought, and looked him over a bit. She noticed the staff, large and secured to his back, and the many, many markings all over him... This wass quite intricant, and she watched them rise and fall with his breath, and watched them all move as he looked back to her. Help? She had always wanted to help, to feel that good feeling she all too often heard about. Here was a chance to do what many thought she could never do; help the wolven kind. She nodded slightly, her smile widening at his paw gesture. She spoke softly and clearly, and as warmly as her smile.
"I would love to be of aid. Thank you, I accept the offer..."

He closed his eyes and smiled in response to his answer, all the while nodding slowly. "Good. Now, first..."
He lifted his head to look at a spot to his right, where nothing could be seen despite that he was obviously staring at something. "Core?" Came the soft voice of Yoh, which soon following his small spirit of a partner filled in the view point. "Think you could be on good behavior for our friend?"
The blue flames continued to soundlessly crackle, but made no sort of spontaneous movement to indicate an answer. However, Yoh nodded and seemed satisfied with something that was not heard by ears other than his own.
"Ketsueki..." His eyes landed on her form, "Allow me to introduce Core, my long time friend and spiritual partner."
Core's flames ran together and created a small puff of smoke, making a small 'pfft' sound that could have been an addition to it's introduction, however it wasn't very clear to anyone aside from Yoh.

Ketsueki regained a semi-strait face, still happy and on the verge of smiling. What was there not to love? Her face seemed bright in the surroundings. It showed life, it was full of the beauty of life, even though her features werre drasticly suggesting the opposite. SKinny, malnurished. But, still, her eyes were full of life, and had not the faintest trace of death in them..... The milky white glaze of death..... When the flame appeared, she smiled, and nodded softly... Core was it's name, the older male had said... She nodded again, still smiling, "Hello, Core, I am Ketsueki"
Ketsueki sniffed the wind, and smelled nothing out of the ordinary, then looked around calmly. Her eyes rested on his beads, and sher smile went from a lip-smile to a grin. Perhaps she had something for him.
"I know a place.... In the woods where I left a small treasure, something precious." she began, "I'd like you to have it... It's a nice necklace... Wood and bone beadcraft, teeth and claws, as well. It would look nice on you..."

(Whoops... ;>> Wheee! :0 )
"Hmm..." Yoh tilted his head, as if considering whether or not he should accept such a gracious gift. Depending on the type of bone and beads, trinkets like that could be vital to a shaman's work in easing spirits. Though he was a modest wolf and such did not often accept gifts. Then again, it was sometimes rude to refuse if a gift was offered so willingly.
Yoh then smiled and nodded.
"I shall like to see this treasure. Thank you Ketsuki."

Ketsueki bowed her head and closed her eyes at his acceptance, thinking back to all of the amaing things that have occured to her as of late. All the wondorous things, and she couldn't help but wonder if she'd wake up frozen and starved in the rain on the coast... The coast... She had never seen it... She would have to see it... Later, though. She stood up slowly, and licked her black lips out of instinct, then stretching and yawning, again all from instinct. She faced back toward the forest where she had come from.
"I can get you there, unfortunately I can't enjoy digging it up yet, nor sniffing it out. I'll need your help with that."

Yoh nodded, fully understanding.
"Where to first then?" Yoh walked ahead a few spaces, turning towards Ketsueki for guideance on where to go next. It would probably not be an easy task, for if he were needed to sniff out the treasure that they sought, what good would it do for him if he did not know its scent?
Core swiveled around his head a few times, Yoh comically following each round-about with his eyes, giving the wolf an entertaining appearance while his head spun about. When the two stopped their unknown antics, Yoh smiled and nodded.
"Exactly what I was thinking." He was smiling and still nodding when he turned to Ketsueki, the smile fading as he realised that she may have been curious. He often forgot that others could not see or hear Core so well.
"Core hopes you are well with your descriptions of smells."

The spirit wolfen rushed forward with eagerness, like a pup toward it's brothers. She stopped suddenly, though, and looked back at Yoh. Tilting her head, she watched the show, and shrugged. Oh well. She turned toward the forest again, then continued to spin around as Yoh spoke to her. The smell? She nearly forgot.
"Well... Tis kinda nutty... I don't know how or why, though, it just is." Yeah, like that would help any. There must be a billion nutty-smelling things in those woods.
