It was only then that the crickets ceased chirruping. Sound seem
to have been sucked into oblivion so that there was absolutely...
nothing.
Movement could perhaps be felt, for the very earth shook like
an aftershock. Then, sound like thunder in the ground joined with
the quake. At that moment, a wild jolt was given in the grave
area of Vernum, and a huge split appeared like a crevice.
Things started to turn ugly indeed. The old tree suddenly burst
into flame, almost out of nowhere. Suddenly, pallid bones of a
paw that no doubt belonged to a hulking-sized wolf reached weakly
from the crevice. The toes were moving, as if reaching for the very
flames that licked the tree's boughs.
With the tiniest touch of flame, the skeleton's paw was ignited
instantly. Like the tree, the flame ate up the entire arm of the
living-dead. Upon engulfing the rotted corpse inside the earth,
an explosion subsequently transpired from the earth where the
corpse of Vernum lay. Dirt, grass, and stone flew in all directions
like fireworks.
Upon advancing thus far into the necromancing, a cataclysmic
howl was sent violently upon the world as the spirit of Vernum
returned; her corpse tumultuously engulfed and obscured in flames
as a vengeful spirit returned once more to the shell that was left
behind eight-hundred years ago. The marrow of the bones became
whole; flesh melded together like clay; organs re-formed so that
the shell could live once again.
The flames upon the body died, to reveal a whole wolf that was
about the size of a very large horse. She was standing with her
head held high and with a purpose upon a deep, enormous
crater to where her body once rested unpeacefully. She might
have looked oddly intimidating against a tree that was still burning
with flame.
For the longest time, Vernum did not speak, but was simply
looking out into the world with blurred eyes as if born again.
'Where am I? What am I doing here?'For some reason, she felt a mixture of confusion and intense
anger bubbling in the pit of her stomach. As her vision cleared,
she noticed a strange creature standing before her, with a look
of purpose in the wolf's eyes.
"Who are you?" demanded Vernum, barking this with a terrible
anger. "What am I doing here?"
