Men were falling as the arrows were struck, driven deep into the flesh and causing fatalities. Men were gasping and screaming in terror.
"The centaur has a weapon," one yelled, fleeing like a pansy-girl through the woods. One man did not even budge. After a while though, his keen eyes glittered as he said naught a word, and fled deeper into the forest, dissapearing elsewhere. A signal was given, and others followed him.
Undomë had no idea what was going on. The ropes about his legs were giving him pain and the lariat about his neck was choking him, thus he was too preoccupied with this pain to hear anything. He then realized that the humans were retreating. Odd; he knew that they had weapons on them as well, but he was not complaining. The Áre writhed once more as silence filled the area; the only sound now was his grunting and pitiful shaking as he tried loosening the knots about his legs.
Something did not seem right. The humans left him bound and simply sitting there. He'd stop writhing, and move his head to see the centaur. Then it struck him. A few of the humans ran off scared, yet he knew there were eyes above, figures obscured well by the trees, waiting for the centaur to aide the Áre so they could ambush and capture her also. Undomë was unable to speak, for his muzzle was bound tighter so he could not speak or scream a warning. He was hurt, also; his movements became less and less as he tried to free himself.

Starmyst watched the men fall to her arrows with grim satisfaction. One one of them finally realized the obvious—that she was armed—many of them scattered like scared little newborn ponies. She smiled gravely. It teaches those cowards a lesson. Don’t mess with other creatures simply because they’re not human! She fitted one of her final few arrows into her bow and aimed it nowhere, but didn’t shoot. Her watchful eye was trying to figure out if any of the men were hidden.
They left Undomë. Starmyst wasn’t sure if she could believe her luck. Were the Wranglers all frightened cowards who retreated at the first sign of attack? Or were they more sinister than that? Her better judgment told her to take her freedom and run away. But she could not in good conscience leave the Áre there, helpless, bound, and headed for captivity and torture. She had to take this opportuniy to save him if she could.
But she did not want to be an easy target once she crossed the river. Some men might very well come back to attack her, and she might not be quick enough to defend herself. Starmyst made up her mind quickly, and she stepped on the water. The fog came up again, and transported her across the river as it had before, but this time, when she stepped on the opposite shore, the fog did not dissipate. Starmyst, of course, needed water to create her wall of fog, and she could not carry water over to where Undomë lay. So she simply stood by the edge of the river and created more and more fog, so that a huge cloud of mist grew and grew until it engulfed the captured Áre. Only then did Starmyst step away from the river.
She walked under the cover of the fog. Her hope was that if there were any remaining Wranglers, they would not be able to see through the barrier to attack her. She would get fair warning if they approached, for centaurs could see better in the fog than humans could. This was not a perfect plan—if they had arrows or guns, they could simply shoot anywhere at the fog cloud and they might hit something. But it was the best Starmyst had.
She bent down when she reached Undomë and took out her arrow. “Hold still,” she ordered, though he hardly had a choice. She used the arrow’s sharp point to saw away at his muzzle, first. If that succeeded, she would turn her attention to his leg bindings. All the while, her ears and nose were ever alert, waiting for the slightest sign of alarm.

Undomë writhed and snorted through his nostrils, feeling furious that he was powerless against the ropes that bound him. In his mind he tried calling telepathetically the storm he created earlier, but that wouldn't do - a lightning bolt could create a fire in the woods, and he certainly did not want to be the one responsible for a forest fire.
A heavy fog settled around the area. Fearfully, the horse gazed around fervently with his eyes, his heart racing. What new devilry was this? But then the figure of Starmyst melted from the fog into semi clear view, approaching him quickly. He tried speaking through his flared nostrils, but to no avail. She must be warned!
The Áre obliged to her wishes impatiently. As soon as his muzzle was freed, he pulled his lips upward and spoke: "Child, the humans are above us - surrounding us! Let us leave and in haste! Ride; you cannot fly!"
However awkward the situation might unfold, the Áre was serious indeed, and while there was fog as thick as this, the humans would not be able to ambush in time... perhaps.

As soon as the bindings fell away, Starmyst straightened and wiped swear from her brow. It was the only sign of exertion she allowed. Truthfully, maintaining this thick fog was wearing down her energy; she allowed it to thin a little, hoping that it wouldn’t make a difference. But she said nothing at Undomë’s words, merely nodding: she did not trust herself to have the energy to reply. She tiredly indicated the direction where the river was, and immediately set off back for the river.
If she could just cross it in time, and if the Áre could fly over it, they would perhaps be safer. Not quite safe, for the humans were ready to fire arrows and other projectiles at them, but better off than where they were now. Starmyst summoned her remaining energy to gallop back through the fog, seeing easily through the thick mist that was her own creation. She hoped against hope that the humans would not begin to fire blindly towards her—she might not be able to avoid a lucky arrow. After what seemed like an eternity, she reached the edge of the river, and began to cross.
But, alas! Things were not to go as planned. When Starmyst got to the middle of the river, she suddenly suffered a loss of energy, and was forced to allow the mist around her dissipate. The fog cleared away in seconds, and she was suddenly exposed. She tiredly attempted to keep herself on the surface of the water—but, sadly, that too was denied her. She had tried to bite off more than she could chew, and now was suffering for it. Without a word, Starmyst began to sink into the water. She floundered and flailed, trying to swim, but her great mass and weight were working against her. She struggled to maintain afloat, but the harsh current was succeeding in forcing her under…and worse, all this was happening in plain sight of the vile Wranglers…

"Foolish child!" Undomë growled. The humans were coming towards him, but Undomë caught one man in the face with an onyx hoof. Extending his wings, he once more took flight, and this time was successful to avoid any lassos that might have been thrown upon him. Now that he was in the air, he looked for the drowning centaur. Humans were pricking the water's surface with their random devices, making the Áre snort angrilly. As he opened his mouth wide, he released a strong breath of wind that made them all once more fly off their feet. As the whirlwhind traveled through the woods, carrying the humans with it, Undomë dived speedily towards the river. His body met with it, and was instantly engulfed in water, but he was so fast that it almost seemed like water did not touch him. Eyes was searching for the figure of Starmyst frantically, but soon spotted her. As quickly as his whole body could muster, he swam to her and allowed her body to drift on his back. If he was successful, he'd swim right back up to the surface, and fly once more into the air, with Starmyst perhaps on his back.

Starmyst cursed this body. Though useful for some things, like firing arrows, it was completely useless for something like swimming. If I were a wolf or an eagle, I would not be in this situation now! she thought angrily. But this irrational fit of fury passed quickly, and she soon turned her efforts to staying afloat. She struggled against the current, which was trying to push her under. I will not die within my own element!
At that moment, she was aware of some great and powerful creature beneath her. She immediately clung to it, not caring whether it was just a log or some fearsome sea-creature. Anything was better than drowning! But she soon discovered that it was actually Undomë, whom she herself had rescued only moments before. You scratch my back, I scratch yours. Despite the dire situation, she smiled. She would have thanked him, but water would rush into her mouth and into her lungs. So she kept her mouth firmly closed.
A stroke of luck blessed her! She had managed to keep a grip on her quiver and bow. She was not weaponless, defenseless. As soon as they crossed the river—oh, suddenly, the Áre lifted her up into the sky. Starmyst could not suppress a delighted gasp. How long it had been since she had flown! As the wind rushed past her, she inhaled deeply, rejoicing in the feel of flying, though she had no wings. How wonderful it was! Oh, she missed her previous forms even more now!
Undomë was clearly very, very strong, that he was able to not only fly, but to lift a centaur of her weight as well. Starmyst twisted around, an arrow in her bow, firing down at one of the Wranglers. She did not see whether she scored or not; she just wanted to strike fear into their hearts.

Powerful wings lifted them both high into the sky, but not too high. "If you've a fear of heights, then don't look down, I beg of you," said Undomë calmly, for he would rather not have Starmyst blow chunks on his coat. He was, of course, unaware of her past life as winged creatures. The world below them were quickly speeding by in a blur. "Do you live close? There, I could drop you off." He paused for a split second before smiling. "Are you alright? What an adventure, eh? Pathetic humans; they do not know better, do they."

“Don’t worry,” Starmyst gasped out. “I love the sky.” She shook her head at his question, though he might not have seen it. “My tribe is spread out all over the woods; we like to wander. You can deliver me anywhere, if you cannot carry me longer.” Though, inside, she was disappointed; how much she loved the feeling of the wind whipping past her face! Oh, how blessed she had been in her previous lives!
She smiled weakly. “An adventure, indeed. More than I really liked. Humans never know when to stop in their madness.” She let out a sigh. At least, she reassured herself, I was not reborn as one of those despicable humans.

"Very good," Undomë replied, flexing his wings as he kept in the air with absolutely no difficulty. He listened to her speak, and his horselike face contorted into wonder. "Humans are the root to madness," he nodded, thinking darkly of his past, "but even that, is contradictory."
Folding his wings, he prepared a smooth landing to a clearing in the woods. A light thump was heard, and onix hooves met earth.

flurry of relived feathers and a little squawk of happiness, merdoc had finally found a river. her griffin body was in bad shape, so much that she was death to all sound, she nearly lost her sight too, her soul was trying so hard to escape. Sploosh, she just fell into the lake, her body was revived back to full health instantly, but just in case because she had been careless in her landing, her eye colour began to swirl her body begin transparent in swirling black mist. she looked around. damn trust her to arrive when the worst thing possible could be happening. she looked around there was a pure white female centaur firing arrows like theres no tomorrow, she moved he eyes on and saw humans, the dreaded humans. she had only just escaped the last time she met a humanoid. in her unstable mind she saw these as the spawn of the half- breed. behind the first line if humans she saw a great beast lying battered upon the ground, this made her even madder and attempted to control the ming of one of the humans that weren't having arrows peppered at it. as she was trying to gain access, her shrouded body drifted over to the centaur her aggressive side coming through. she hissed " no fear i will aid you kill the spawn of evil, but Bare in mind that i do not ultimately do it to help you or that creature over there, were just on the same side. don't fire at the human near the back I'm trying to access his mind." she was very brisk and business like, perhaps she was losing her insanity.

oOc| wow, i had totally forgotten about this thread ^^;
When Undomë landed, Starmyst demounted (strange term for a centaur) gracefully from his back. “Thank you very much,” she said earnestly, smiling as she tossed her white hair behind her. “We made a good team—if somewhat unorthodox.” So saying, she slung her bow over her shoulder with her quiver, unafraid of the humans following them this far.
Suddenly she saw another mythical creature approaching them. She blinked, for this particular type of beast was very legendary, beautiful and powerful. “Undomë, look,” she said softly, pointing. “That’s a…why, it’s a griffin. You don’t see one of those every day.” She had seen griffins before, but only very rarely. Starmyst put a hand to her eyes and squinted, missing her sharp eagle vision. “This one looks extremely mad—though I hope not at us.”
When the griffin landed and started barking out her intentions, Starmyst looked surprised. Goodness, this griffin certainly hated humans, even more so than she did! She was talking about killing them, and calling them the “spawn of evil.” “Much as I abhor those awful, self-centered creatures,” she said flatly, “there is no need for a slaughter of any kind. I have injured and killed enough of those foul beings—let the others run home with their tails tucked between their legs, and never attempt this again. Unless they are threatening—” Starmyst looked behind the griffin, back towards the river, and saw to her dismay that the humans were attempting to cross it themselves.
“Fools!” she exploded. “Are they asking to be destroyed entirely?” With great impatience and annoyance, she once again unslung her bow and readied herself for some arrowing action. “I take it back,” she muttered. “If they are stupid enough to pursue us this far, they deserve every injury they will get.” Starmyst turned to look at Undomë. “Looks like your adventure isn’t over yet,” she said dryly.

OOC: LMAO I forgot this thread, too. Hey Bjorn, be aware that Undomë, the great flying beast you described in your post, is no longer bound by the humans but is now well and free from them. Also be aware of various mistakes in your post, such as spelling and gramatical errors, as there are many. Some of the words are used incorrectly, too; "bare" should be "bear" (yes, spelled like the animal). Just sayin'... 'cause it was a bit difficult with reading your post, no offense. Be sure to read our roleplay carefully if when you join one, because you might miss some important events - like Undomë being freed and saving Starmyst from horrible watery death and all that good stuff. Anyway, just trying to help ya, I mean nothing by it at all. =D
The Undomë swore under his breath at the unfolding scene. "One thing leads after another," he growled, arching his neck and stamping his hoof angrilly. "Then let the adventures of the Áre and centaur continue. I daresay it will be fun." There was a note of heavy sarcasm in his voice; he was obviously old and grouchy. Indeed; he added, "Gettin' too old for this..." He snorted at the gryphon; he didn't mean to sound grouchy, but he was mentally exhausted by all of the excitement occuring around him.
Unfolding his silky, large wings, he took to the sky instantly. He was getting fed up with the humans. For the moment, he attempted to plan a good way to get rid of them.

Though Starmyst did not have the wings like Undomë to take off so swiftly, she had a long range with her bow and arrows. Taking careful aim, then, she fired off a quick volley of the deadly weapons. Most of them found their marks, in the humans’ stomachs and sides and—in one case—the throat. “Please tell me that they will not be foolish enough to continue to pursue us even after that,” she grumbled. She shaded her eyes against the sun to look up at her flying giant of a companion. “I hope he doesn’t get himself hurt, after all that,” she remarked to no one in particular.
The problem now was that she had used many of her arrows, and only had three left. If the humans advanced upon her, she would be hard-pressed to defend herself. She backed away, trying to hide behind some vegetation, for her alabaster-white form would stand out like a sore thumb. This is what I get for being angry, she thought a little ruefully.
