HUMAN/ANTHRO WORLDS CHARACTER
Name: Khalid
Gender: Female
Race: Human-ant hybrid
Sub-Race: N/A
Appearance: She's a tall, somewhat gangly black girl, who always wears a black newsboy cap. She never takes it off because she doesn't want anyone to know she's completely hairless. With her cap on, she looks completely normal, except for her eyes, which are small, black, and beady. She is usually seen wearing a black trenchcoat and sandals, no matter if it's too hot or too cold. Being a hybrid (human-fire ant), she can purposely transform into a human-sized fire ant, with red-black armor, six long flexible legs, and a pair of crushing, stinging mandibles. It is best not to encounter her in this form.
Personality: She's very cynical and callous, seemingly unfeeling. She has a great disregard for formality and folly, and has a way of making people seem foolish. She's brutally honest, for she sees no reason why people should lie just to make another person feel better. In short, she values reason over emotion, and is much more sensible than sensitive.
Magic: N/A (her ability to transform came from technology)
Spells: N/A
Skills: She's an accomplished thief, who has never been caught, and rarely seen. Her fire ant form is particularly powerful, with a poisonous bite and the ability to cling to just about anything, as well as the incredible strength that ants are famous for.
Biography: She was discovered in a village far away from the City of Thor as a baby, abandoned in the nearby jungle in a straw basket. The two villagers who found her took her in and began raise her, despite the consensus of the rest of the village. Almost all of the villagers, who were pale-skinned, believed that Khalid was infected by evil dark spirits, which turned her white skin into the dark color it was. Worse, because of Khalid's baldness, they believed the evil spirits had taken away her hair. Despite this, her foster parents took care of her, until it was evident that the rest of the village would not stop to get rid of Khalid.
At this point, the village's medicine-man intervened, and took Khalid from her foster parents, promising that no harm would come to her. The villagers did not dare defy their only medicine-man. But the medicine-man was obsessed with experiments, and kept attempting to unite two creatures into one. When he felt he succeeded, he attempted to join Khalid with a fire ant, so as to offer her more protection from the rest of the village. He succeeded, but all too well. Now the rest of the village, instead of respecting her, shunned her, including her former foster parents. The rallying cry to destroy her became louder. So Khalid decided the best thing was to run away from it all. She had heard of the City of Thor, where hybrids were not only accepted, they were commonplace. She begged the medicine-man for provisions, and he reluctantly obliged, but told her to come back one day and tell him what the City was like.
She made the long, harsh journey to the City of Thor when she was about 15½ years old. She traveled alone, carrying bags of food and valuables that she could sell once she got to Thor. She encountered some villains, but was able to drive them off with her fire ant form, and perfected her reflexes and abilities in that form. But when she got to a decent-sized town about three-fourths of the way to Thor, she met a thief, who was only known as the Magpie. Needing a horse in order to speed her journey to Thor, she asked the Magpie to teach her everything there is to know about thievery. The Magpie was a hasty, merciless teacher, but Khalid learned quickly. She soon filched a horse and was able to complete the journey to the City of Thor in a few days. She was then but 16 years old.
She found Thor overwhelming. She sold her horse and most of the valuables she had brought from her village, which was enough money to afford her a dingy apartment on the cheap side of Thor. She quickly realized that she hadn't the education or the talent to get a steady, well-paying job. So she turned to the only other skill she had: thievery. She came up with clever, simple plans to steal as many items as possible without getting caught. She uses her fire ant form to perform most of these thefts, and has never allowed her human form to be spotted. She's really an accomplished thief, but not one so famous that the whole city knows her. She is so clever that she usually escapes the scene of the crime without having ever been seen in either of her forms, so very few people are aware that they have a human-sized ant-burglar in their midst. She has been living off stolen goods in the City of Thor for a little over 3 years now.
