HUMAN/ANTHRO WORLDS CHARACTER
Name: Lanval
Gender: Male
Race: Elf
Sub-Race: N/A
Appearance: Grown-out navy blue hair, slender figure, eyes hidden by a tight blue blindfold. He wears a loose blue shirt and black pants. His face is half-obscured by his blindfold, but he is clean-shaven and does have very handsome features. He has the standard pointed ears of most elves and very long, lanky legs.
Personality: He used to be an arrogant pig who liked to tap that but never believed in any deeper emotion. Though he was the younger brother of King Ahkay, he was rarely the jealous one -- rather, it was the other way around. Lanval enjoyed being envied by his older brother and even went out of his way to bother the king. Since his curse, though, Lanval has been much humbled. He still tries to do everything on his own and will never beg for help, but when he falls short, he will accept help if it is offered. He is much quieter now, but occasionally his sarcastic wit will shine through.
Magic: Energy
-Spells: He can conjure up blue-energy weapons, like arrows or knives (only one at a time). These blue-energy weapons hurt like the real thing.
Skills: His hearing has enhanced since he blindfolded himself, to the point where it's nearly as sharp as a wolf's. He can also use, to an extent, echolocation, like bats and dolphins -- he can emit rapid high-frequency sounds that bounce off of objects and back to him, allowing him to "see" a kind of sketch of his surroundings. He has not entirely perfected the method yet, though, so occasionally he does stumble or crash into things. When he could see, he was absolutely brilliant with knives -- now blind, he is struggling to regain his former ability. He used to sing beautifully too, though he only does this when he is on his own.
History: The younger brother of King Ahkay of the labyrinthine realm, Lanval was as crude as his brother was romantic. He was handsomer, better with weapons, better at music -- a very dreamy prospect for the ladies. Ahkay was frequently jealous of him, though tolerated it. That is, until Lanval went over the line.
The dreamy Lanval seduced Ahkay's current lover by showing off his physique and voice. They slept together, and Ahkay's girlfriend believed herself in love with Lanval, not Ahkay. When she told Lanval this, however, he dismissed her, calling her a good lay but little else. Deeply hurt, she ran away from the castle in the wilderness of the maze and was never heard from again.
When Ahkay found out about this, he was very P.O.'d. Instead of unleashing all his kingly wrath on his brother, however, the romantic sap simply cursed Lanval to fall truly, madly, deeply in love with the first living being he saw (including animals!). A panicked Lanval quickly found a blindfold and wrapped it tightly around his eyes, swearing to never take it off unless the curse was lifted. Ahkay flew off the handle, but before he could do anything else, Lanval fled the castle.
He has been wandering the king's complex labyrinth ever since, trying to adjust to his new blind lifestyle. All of the previous attributes he had that he had been so proud of were no longer as important as survival. Occasionally, he sings to himself and the surrounding animals for therapeutic purposes, but he does not purposefully sing to anyone else, lest they be seduced as Ahkay's ex-girlfriend had been. For the two things Lanval is most afraid of now are these: a) his blindfold is removed, condemning him to a life of being someone's love-slave, and b) someone else falls in love with him.
