Name: Goth
Gender: Male
Age: In his sixth century.
Race: Wolf
Sub-Race: Demonic
Breed: Mutatio wolf (see Old Species Index).
Pack: Shinkou
Rank: Beta Male
Mate: Raven
Offspring: Electra (adopted); Rakurai, Mimei; Celtic, Pagan
Appearance: He stands a full 5', which is about as big as Mutatios can get, and is overall quite an imposing creature. He has thick black fur so dark you'll probably miss him in the shadows, unless he opens his eyes, which are an impenetrable bright gold. He possesses enormous draconic wings, which, like the rest of him, are black. But he hardly ever uses these wings unless he has to. His alternate form, named Stormwing, is much less normal. The Dark Soldier's eyes are white fire; he stands erect and upright on his two hind legs (reaching a height of 8'); his front claws become elongated and white-hot to the touch; his fangs drool venom; and his tail becomes much like that of a scorpion.
Skills: Goth is a lean, mean, fighting machine in his normal form; he's agile, strong, and his teeth and claws are wickedly sharp. But he doesn't seem to have any special powers. That is, until he transforms (he only transforms if he absolutely has to). He is an even more vicious hand-to-hand fighter in his other form.
Magic: Chief Element (as Stormwing the Dark Soldier): Poison
Spells:
Venom Injection: Both his scorpion tail and his fangs are filled with poison that, when injected into a living creature, will kill the creature within ten minutes of the injection, a very slow and very painful death. Even if he only scratches his opponent with tail or teeth, it will be a very burning pain, though it can be healed with the proper magic.
Personality: Goth seems withdrawn at first, lingering in the shadows and constantly at the packlands' borders instead of in the mainland. But his heart is completely capable of love, friendship, and honor. He would not hesitate to risk his life to save a loved one. But he usually does not let strangers get to know him; he is actually aloof at first. Only ones he knows he can trust are those he welcomes into his world. The personality of Stormwing can be summed up in one word: battle-berserk. Once engaged in battle, the Dark Soldier will kill and kill his enemies until there are none left, or until is entirely drained of energy (in which case, he reverts back to his normal form). Goth has minimal control over his instincts when he's in this alternate form.
History: His history is a long one: five centuries of war and strife. (For a full detailed history, click here.) The following is a summary (STILL LONG).
1st century: As a pup, Goth is kidnapped by the vengeful demon prince Santrone. His mother, Divineh, a war hero, goes after them. She transfers her powers to Goth, allowing him to escape, though she herself is tortured and killed by Santrone. Goth uses his new form, Stormwing (that he got from his mother), to fight in a battle of Mutatios and demons. During the battle, his father Helcarax is slain by the demon king Nordoré. Goth kills Nordoré, whose son Dranben then challenges him. Goth kills Dranben as well, causing the rest of the demon army to flee in fear of this "Stormwing." Goth/Stormwing is called to fight in many wars but dies when he reaches 100 years.
2nd century: Goth is reborn, glimpsing the black raven of life, Karasis. in this century, there were many wars, wolves against wolves, wolves against cougars, wolves against demons. Because of this, it is known to some as the Age of Chaos. Goth joins a new pack, where he is revered as their champion, earning the title "Dark Soldier." Goth dreams of Karasis and has a breakdown, begging the raven to lead him to the happiness he has yet to find. The Alpha witnesses this breakdown and banishes him from the pack, fearing his mental instability. The miserable Goth, now known only as the Dark Soldier, departs.
After most of the pack is killed in a demon attack, the Alpha then seeks out the Dark Soldier to beg for his return. The Alpha does not live through the journey; it is possible that the Dark Soldier has killed him. During his travels, the Dark Soldier encounters the demon prince Zostar. Zostar is the son of Dranben, whom Goth killed in his previous life. Zostar swears revenge, but the Dark Soldier merely laughs at him and moves on. He dies a loner at the end of the century.
3rd century: The Great War of Ychalgar (a land very, very far away from Shinkou). It was not a demons vs. wolves war; it was far more complex, with allied armies on both sides that covered a broad range of species. Goth and Zostar are on different sides, of course, each one a respected general in their own right. A kind soul named Yavinath befriends Goth, making him wonder if this is the peace he has sought for so long. In the thick of battle, many demons flee before Goth's Stormwing form, remembering it from centuries past. Then Zostar and Goth confront one another.
They are about to duel, but then Yavinath interferes, attacking Zostar. Zostar strikes Yavinath down dead, and in his vengeful fury, Goth-as-Stormwing attacks Zostar with all his strength, killing him instantly. A depressed and disillusioned Goth then leaves the war, wanting no more part of it. He wanders until his death.
4th and 5th centuries: Goth has many dreams of Karasis and constantly tries to follow the black raven's path, seeking that ever-elusive happiness.
6th century: As a pup, Goth joins the Heart Wolf Pack. Starting his life anew, he befriends several fellow pups, including the children of Starmyst. Tragedy befalls the pack as a forest fire claims the lives of nearly half the pack, leaving only three survivors. One of these survivors is a pup named Sunset, whom the Alphas decide to abandon, considering him a liability. Starmyst stands up for Sunset, and the displeased Alphas banish her. In addition, her mate Thunderbolt cannot stand the sight of her, branding her a traitor in his eyes. Even as a pup, Goth knows that she did right, but he cannot do anything to help her.
More forest fires occur, killing a wolf here and there. The last one is unconquerable, unquenchable, and the Alphas both perish in it. So do Starmyst and Thunderbolt's children, Goth's friends. Goth and Thunderbolt survive. Thunderbolt attacks Goth out of raging grief, then leaves to find Starmyst, blaming all his misfortunes on her. Once he recovers, Goth attempts to follow him.
Goth meets Starmyst at Shinkou Ookami, where she welcomes him warmly and introduces him to her friend, Raven. Goth is moved by her beauty, kindness, and passion, and wonders if she is the one Karasis meant for him to find; the black Raven he has been chasing all this time. Meanwhile, Thunderbolt arrives and attacks Starmyst, but she prevails, killing him. She dies of her own wounds not long after.
Goth and Raven grieve together, and in the process, Goth realizes that he loves her. But he is confused by the foreign emotion and does not know how to act on it. At some point, Raven becomes mysteriously pregnant and gives birth to a daughter, Electra. Though it is not his blood-daughter, Raven asks Goth to be Electra's father, and Goth happily agrees. Thus Raven and Goth become mates for life, giving Goth the happiness he has sought for so long.
Since then, Goth has been appointed Beta Male of Shinkou and has fought against all that threaten Shinkou (the cougars, Giaku, Ghost, etc.). Also, Raven has given birth to two litters (this time they're Goth's!): Rakurai and Mimei, and the twins Pagan and Celtic. Goth is a loving mate and father and strong guardian of his pack.
