Giaku Ways of Life
[/blockquote][/blockquote]Notorious for their vicious and warfaring lifestyle, it is no wonder why outsiders see wolves of Giaku as despicable and evil monsters. But within, Giaku is ruled by an empire in an orderly fashion. Though the empire can strike fear in many, Giaku grants great protection to it's citizens but with a small cost... your freedom. Though higher ranked wolves can do just about anything they want to, lower ranked wolves have lower expectations and are often bullied until they gain respect by doing something honorable. Giaku holds high regard when it comes to honor and worth, and if a Giaku wolf cannot do it, then they aren't worthy to become a true member of the empire.
Slavery: Slavery is an unfortunate part of Giaku, but its members see it as an necessary commodity. A slave's lifestyle is an awful and difficult one. While rape and beatings are ordinary and acceptional, labor is a task especially established to them. The empire oversees their duties as engineers of Giaku's technology. They must do as they are told by the higher ranked wolves, or else their punishments could be severe. Slavery is forced upon a member if that member has violated the laws of Giaku multiple times or committed treachery beyond its borders. Prisoners of war are often charged with slavery if they aren't killed first. Any ranked wolf may harbor any number of slaves if they have the responsibilities and accomodations to keep one.
Families: A male and female are free to have and grow families. A male is usually the head of that family, and would be the one most wolves would acknowledge first before the female.
Gender: In Giaku's society, the male is regarded as the superior gender. The role of females are to continue a line, and they must respect and honor the males. They should always be honored for their roles, but not seen in the same social class as a male. Therefore the females are second class. If a female possesses a very high and noble rank, she is seen as very strong and just as equal to her partner. For example, the empress would be regarded as an equal to the emperor, but her role and expectations as a female is still the same, to continue their bloodline. The bad treatment of a ranked female is actually deeply frowned upon, and can earn a male the sentence of lifelong slavery if he abuses a female. However, slaves are of equal status, regardless of their gender, and are both treated quite poorly. Males do condone a chivalrous code to females in this society.
Technology: Unlike most wolf packs, Giaku is a world filled with technology not unlike humans of the medieval world. Since Druins have opposable thumbs, they were able to construct a great deal of things, but mostly made out of the earth. For example, their towers were constructed out of the canyons. Carts were created from the wood of the trees. Armor and weapons were made from deep within the earth, and since they are a war-faring nation, these weapons are something of complete normality. Such weapons could be used by magical means since wolves cannot do something as simple as grasping the handle of a sword.
Laws: The laws of Giaku, though simple and straight-forward, are acclaimed and endorsed in stringency. The Solidus (soldiers) notably enforce the laws like a police force. When a law is passed, it is first discussed then established by the nobility of the empire. All members of Giaku are not immune to its laws. The nobility however have more immunity. To break any laws of Giaku shall be judged most harshly by the empire. The resulting punishment can be most severe. Sentences such as slavery, immediate death, being locked away, torture, fighting a fellow law-breaker to the death, or exile is held under the discretion of the emperor and empress alone.
- By entering the borders of Giaku or initiated as a member, the wolf automatically becomes a devout abiding citizen. All visitors are regarded with suspicion until they have proven themselves trustworthy.
- Do not commit murder without an acceptable reason. (Murder is not greatly frowned upon in Giaku--there must be a good, valid reason to do commit this deed, such as vengeance for a good cause and the need to defend. Needless killing and mindless slaughter is immoral.)
- Do not commit treachery. (Dishonesty and disloyalty against the empire will immediately sentence one to death, unless deemed otherwise by the High Council.)
- Honor and nurture the empire. Protect it with your life. (All are expected to guard the empire most loyally, and lay their life on the line whenever their homeland is under threat. Families are encouraged to bolster, develop, and protect one another.)
- Females must respect and honor males. (Males are naturally physically stronger than the females, and must be regarded with unquestionable veneration, for they are protectors of all and the shields of Giaku.)
- Honor females, and do not abuse them. (Just because females are not at the same level as males in this society does not give them the excuse to physically or mentally harm the bodies that help sew the seeds of creation.)
- A strong pack does not grow on sickness and weakness. Those born with such are to be discarded. (The disfigured, weak, or sick are not tolerated in Giaku. It would do these poor unborn souls a greater good to let them pass silently to the afterlife where the living will never suffer them.)
- Remember the past but always look forward to a greater future. (Giaku does not dwell on the past, but will learn from their mistakes. Optimism is highly valued, for it gives all a strive to continue.)
- Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall. (Giaku will not tolerate defeat, and will rise up to meet any new or old challenges that face them.)
