Tian Luong, or 天龍 is a special Eastern Dragon whose name means "sky dragon" in Chinese. They are naturally protective, but come off as benign. It takes a lot of provoking to set off a Tian, but if you mess with someone close to them, be wary of giant claws that come out of no where.
Scientific Classification:
- KINGDOM: Animalia
- PHYLUM: Chordata
- SUPERCLASS: Tetrapoda
- CLASS: Reptilia
- ORDER: Squamata
- FAMILY: Draconidae
- GENUS SPECIES: Tianus Orientis (Definition: "Eastern Sky Dragon" -- noun)
History: Coming soon
Age: Tians are immortal but can die just as easily as mortals (example--a sword can pierce and kill a mortal as easily as Tians).
Diet: Their preferred diet is fruit and bigger fish, such as dolphins, and other small whales.
Appearance: The Tian Luong have two forms.
[li]Ulu Form: Also known as the "original form". A one to two foot dragon with a thin mane down their head, neck, and back. Their tail is serpentine with a tuft of fur at the end. They have stubby birdlike feet on their forelegs and doglike feet on their hindlegs. Their faces have a peculiar wolflike shape, only the heads are flatter and their muzzles wider and dragonlike. Their neck, underbellies, and tail have overlapping scales like an average dragon's. It is normal for them to have markings on their body. They also have a beautiful object on their forehead, which is usually a jewel or other intriguing objects that is said to attract a Spirit which is the source of elemental magic for all living things. When provoked or angered, they have the ability to transform to their Ora Form.
[/li][li]Ora Form: Also known as the "monster form". A tremendous beast of at least fifteen feet, this monster has a mouth full of teeth and a bad attitude waiting to be unleashed. They look like their Ulu forms, only bigger and far stronger. They retain their markings. The only changes noticeable are the fur on the legs that are thicker, and the mane is thicker and longer. Their front legs, once birdlike, now looks hawklike with long, curvy talons and deadly, while their hindpaws look wild and wolflike. Spikes adorn the tail, evenly spaced and serrated. The object on the Monster Tian's forehead is now also a long and deadly horn(s), fashioned in any shape or form. A male's horn(s) is thicker and longer than a female's. Keep in mind that this Ora Tian Luong will usually divulge aggression if the thing they protect is threatened.
[/li][/ul]
Personalities: Mostly come off as benign, and not easily provoked unless it is against someone close to them. Tians are extremely loyal and happily guard whoever they see fit to protect, and will most fiercely die for them if they want to. This is why most creatures will steal a Tian while they are still in their eggs (which is extremely hard to do--accomplishing the capture of a Tian egg or youngling is dangerous and exceedingly rare). When a Tian hatches, or when they're raised at a young age, their personalities will strongly reflect that of their master/whoever raises them. Thus, if a person of dark intentions raises a Tian, chances are that Tian will be raised to be and do evil things. If a Tian is raised by a good person, that Tian will do and be good.
If a Tian loses the thing they protect permanently, it is very hard to earn the respect of and gain their trust. Tians might isolate themselves and brood in their monster forms for a very long time, or if they're really depressed, might kill themselves. They believe in an afterlife, and believing that what they protect is at the other side, wills to be there with them so they can continue protecting them. It depends for every Tian, for even a Tian's personality varies.
Strength: It varies for every Tian. Their original forms are obviously far weaker than their monster forms, whose strength is not unlike a couple of strong adult bulls.
Colors: They vary in color.
Height:
- Original Form: 1-3 ft. Males are normally bigger than females.
- Monster Form: 10-15 ft. Males are normally bigger than females.
Language: They speak by means of body language and grunts, snorts, growls, howls, etc. But they're so intelligent that they can learn any language, particularly Common.
Powers: All Tian Luong can naturally heal at the expense of their own energy. If someone has just been killed, the Tian can bring them back to life in exchange for their own. They also all have the natural ability to transform into different forms, which means only their Original Form and their Monster Form, also at the expense of their own energy. Using their elemental spirit said to be born inside their objects on their foreheads, all Tians can create a cloud at their legs that is used to travel by air.
Wings: No wings; they have clouds that can lift them into the air. Original Tians have the power to hover no more than a few feet, and can move very slowly while hovering. The way they hover is via a cloud, resembling their elemental magic (for example, a Fire Tian will have a cloud of fire at their legs, and an Ice Tian will have a frigid cloud siphoning snow, etc). Every Tian in both forms can have one element at a time, and rarely, two, as long as they do not conflict each other. Monster Tians have a much more impressive cloud at their legs that enable them to not only hover, but fly in great speeds up to 120 miles an hour.
Beliefs: Coming soon
Breeding: A Tian female will breed three times a year and lay a clutch of 3-10 of exceedingly lightweight eggs on a nest of clouds in the sky. The chances of all eggs successfully hatching is usually 3-4; not all eggs may hatch. When the Tians are born, the parents immediately begin bonding and caring for their brood. Tian babies are enormously cute with chubby bodies known as "baby fat", but will begin looking like normal Tians in a few months. Babies will begin learning, and are naturally fast learners and will know almost everything their parents know by the time they turn a year old. Ambitious Tians might leave their cloud nest by this time and go on their own way, or else stay with their parents a while longer. By the time they turn two, parents will sternly allow their children to move on and start a life anew. Tians have strong bonding relationships, so it is very difficult for a Tian to part from someone they love. Tians cannot successfully transform into their Monster Forms until they meet someone they feel the need to protect, and have a close bond with.
The Tian Luong may breed with: Any dragon
