Name: Ammolite
Gender: Female
Age: A young adult (human equivalent = between the ages of 18 and 21)
Race: Wolf/Unspecified
Sub-Race: Shapeshifter
Breed: Half grey wolf, half cave-demon (kolohenki)
Appearance: She seems ordinary at first, with light gray fur with no markings; but her eyes are constantly shifting colors with her moods, from yellow-green pleasure to passionate violet, etc. Her eyes are the color of the ammolite gemstone, for which she is named. She actually owns an ammolite amulet, hidden within her fur, a gift from her mother before she died.
Magic: Inherently none, but her amulet has some unclear powers
-Spells: Healing: some basic wounds, generally, but also once helped cure an entire plague; the amulet takes energy from Ammolite and she nearly died when she had to heal that much; she would not be able to accomplish so much on her own
Personality: She's rather naïve about life above the Surface, having lived underground most of her life. She's curious to learn anything she can. She was never taught in proper manners, but she's very apologetic if she makes a mistake, with a puplike innocence. She can be alternately outgoing/friendly and very shy. She's fragile, easily breakable, although thankfully no one has yet tried to break her.
History: As said before, she was born in the caves beneath the distant mountains (not to be confused with the Ancient Caverns in SO). She never knew her father, who was actually a demon, and loved her mother. She learned to survive underground, fishing every day from the underground lakes, and helping her mother mine for precious gems. Since these caverns were also habitats for certain demons, she grew up rather friendly with demons, and has not yet been exposed to any "evil." (A few demons were actually her educators.) Her mother bestowed upon her her most treasured possession, the ammolite amulet, the characteristics of which are still largely unknown. Not long after, her mother died of a strange disease, and the demons advised Ammolite to leave, lest she also catch the sickness. So Ammolite climbed to the Surface for the first time, and is trying to understand the way of life and the customs of the Surface-dwellers.
So much has happened since then. She met the reborn Hawk and a demon-lizard named Azarak, was reunited with her childhood friend Princess Istariel, was introduced to Hawk's guardian Phoebus, and traveled to the Spirit World to rescue her father Fiendark. While in the Spirit World, she encountered Spectre, who unbeknownst to her was bent on taking her for himself. But Ammolite rejoined her party and they went back to the mortal world, though Ammolite was forced to leave behind her amulet. Without the amulet, her spirit kept trying to jar itself loose from her body. She was able to help Fiendark cure the Sickness that plagued the cave-demons, but was sent to the Spirit World. In a sense, she had died. But Hawk, Istariel, Fiendark, Azarak, Hawk's friend Zues, and Phoebus went to the Spirit World to rescue her. They were almost too late, as Spectre had nearly secured Ammolite's spirit for himself, but Zues, Hawk, and Fiendark destroyed Spectre. With the enemy killed, Ammolite and her father were able to return.
But then Ammolite's amulet began to malfunction, turning her into an uncontrollable tornado of stone and wind. It took several people to defeat the tornado and get her back under control. Since everyone was preoccupied with her, an agent of Hawk's enemy Shanto, Kenei, was able to kidnap Istariel. Ammolite went with Hawk, Azarak, and Phoebus to try to rescue her. On the way they met Hawk's sister Yoshika and their friend Akuma. But Hawk ditched them all to rescue Istariel himself. Ammolite nearly caught up with Hawk and stopped him, but Phoebus halted her, telling her it was Hawk's duty alone to rescue Istariel. Hawk killed Kenei, but nearly died himself, and Istariel was on the edge of death herself. Phoebus thus gave up his immortal life for both of them to live a full, healthy, and prolonged life. Ammolite mourned the loss of the cherished guardian.
Ammolite was in love with Hawk herself...abandoned everyone in order to deal with her private sorrow. Unfortunately she walked into a trap that was also set by Spectre. He nearly got her, but Hawk, Fiendark, and Azarak were able to catch up. After some confusion, Fiendark sacrificed his life so Spectre would die. Devastated, Ammolite returned home with Hawk...only to find that Istariel had given birth to pups and died during the labor.
Fearing a danger that would pursue him and his motherless children, Hawk nearly left, but Ammolite forced him to stay. Gradually, the two did mate, though under much less passionate circumstances than Hawk and Istariel had. Ammolite raised the children, Kah'verna and Sabbia Fiore, to the best of her ability, but they both resented her for different reasons. She loved them regardless and never did stop loving Hawk either, though hers was a quiet love, something that came more from a deep friendship.
