I'm puttin this in the gallery cause I gots pics. >>
do.us.changyou.com/index.shtml <-Website There's only one server at the moment, cause it's a new game. But if they ever do add more, I'm in the US, Zion server.
Well, we tried Rappelz and as fun as it was, we started hitting brick walls and leveling complications a few months into playing. ;>> The game ran out of quests once we all hit close to level 50 and the only way left to level was through Dungeon parties, which sucks royally because it's a complete gamble. You may die 20 million times before finally gaining 6% experience. -__- You may get a great party or a stupid one. Not to mention if you weren't in the same level range as each other *cough*Monkey*cough* xD no one would benefit from the party. The cool pets are expensive as heck, and equipment upgrades completely deplete your life time savings.
BUT! Wom found a new free game. :3 It's still in it's open beta testing, which means it's just going to keep getting more awesome in the future.
Usually I stay away from Chinese or kung-fu type mmos, because normally I dislike them. They tend to focus on one or two key features in an mmo. Dragon Oath however, goes above and beyond the average online game. And because I'm so ticked at Rappelz for being stupid, I'm going to compare the two to show how sucky Rappelz really is. xD
Since I typed out so much information below... ._. I'm going to put a few of the screenshots up here because I know about...2 of the people who look at this will actually read some of the info. XD
Dragon Oath screens:
I took this one cause I thought the couple riding the elephant together was soooooooooooo cute. :3 Look, they're even cuddling. nn
Classes
One of the reasons we liked Rappelz was because of the diverse class ladders. There were three different races(though they were all humanoid) with plenty of classes available, although the main reason Rappelz has so many is because it works on a 'tier' system. Aka, new classes are just old ones that have upgraded with their levels.
While Dragon Oath doesn't have as diverse of a class system as Rappelz, they still have 9 different classes available to choose from, each with their own skills and unique advantages. Not to mention each class can easily hold their own in a one on one battle. >3
Mounts
Rappelz has a single mount, available to every class of every level. It is called an Ornitho(I think) and it increases a player's speed by a certain percentage. It only lasts 5 hours and can be purchased any time from adventure guides for 1,100 game rupees. Red ornithos can be purchased from a hidden village, which can be accessed by using real money. There's also another mount available in the game's cast shop.
Dragon Oath players can purchase their first mount at level 20. At level 40 they can buy a class mount or choose to purchase other types of mounts of their levels. Faster mounts can be obtained at level 60. Dragon Oath also has TONS of mounts that include: lions, tigers, bears(oh my!), eagles, cranes, phoenixes, ostriches, reindeer, unicorns, dragons, wolves, winged cats, other strange creatures, a giant rabbit ._. , Elephants...etc. I haven't even seen them all. There's even a two-person mount in the cash shop and a special xmas themed reindeer drawn sleigh. I'm also going to mention that once you buy a mount it DOESN'T EVER disappear. x3
Just some of the mounts in game:
Leveling, Quests and Parties
In Rappelz, quests disappear around level 48-ish. I can't remember exactly. After that the only way to level is to go through Dungeon Parties, which are dangerous considering if you don't have a good party, you'll get mobbed and murdered by monsters slightly higher in level than you and insanely difficult/impossible to kill alone. Leveling by killing normal monsters(also known as grinding in the MMO gameplay) is nearly impossible as it takes forever to get any decent experience points out of them. Also if you're 10+ levels over or below your friends, you can't party with them.
Dragon Oath monsters are easier to deal with. Players are given large amounts of health(I'm only level 26 and I already have over 4,000 HP. xD ) to better deal with monster killing. It takes a seriously long time for enemies to drain your health down and they all give decent experience points for each kill, even from monsters 10-20 levels below your own. (Me, lvl 26, killed a level 1 monster. Got 20 exp points. Then I killed a level 24 monster, got over 200 exp points. :3 ) Which means even if you get mobbed by 3-4 monsters, you can still kill them before they kill you. I also have yet to run out of quests and more continue to pop up as I level up. Also, players of any level can easily party with each other, since monsters give out experience regardless of party levels. There's even a Master/Disciple system on Dragon Oath that rewards lower level and higher level players for partying with each other. They get bonus experience and free items for every level up. Oh, did I mention that the longer you party with a person, the more free buffs you get? xD Your friendship levels increase the more time you spend with a person, which can eventually lead to making them "kinship" where you get MORE exp and loot bonuses.
Guilds
Rappelz guilds can make their own emblems and if they want can participate in the weekly Dungeon war in order to take over 1 of 5 or something existing dungeons in the game. >> If they win, they get a percentage of the experience and money of people who level in the dungeons. The loosing guilds get to suck it.
Dragon Oath guilds can also make their own emblems, can assign guild member's positions, declare war on other guilds or form alliances. They can also build their own freaking city. xD Where they can set up trade routes to other cities and guilds, participate in guild quests, battle other guilds in the guild arena, etc. Members also get more free stuff for helping to contribute to the guild.
Marriage
Rappelz does not have.
Dragon Oath does! Only people of opposite genders. But you can get married and even have a wedding with invites and a parade. People that you give invites to will be able to attend and get special gifts for attending. XD A married couple also get's a bonus for leveling together, unlock special game titles and special skills that only married folk can use.
Equipment
Rappelz has a wide variety, but each suit is limited to each race and class. Thus, you know just by looking at a person what their class is and probably what their level is(since a new outfit can only be obtained through a new level tier). Each race and class has only one outfit at each level interval of 20. And each new upgrade for weapons and armor is very, very costly.
Dragon Oath has many different varieties for each level. They are not limited to classes, so anyone can wear whatever they want. Each individual item shows up on the character in the form of: Boots, wristbands/gloves, main outfit and weapon. Helmets don't show up. There are even decorative outfits that players can wear, which can be hidden or shown(to yourself and other players) by the simple click of a button in the character window.
An example of the outfits:
Me with my basic equipment on: (I'm also riding an ostrich )
All I do is click a single button and Wallah! I'm wearing a pretty formal outfit that I got for joining the Lotus class! (lol, Teh ostrich is like, "Mer? ._. " )
Pets!
One of the main reason we all loved Rappelz. Regardless of your class or level, you could own a pet. At job level 9ish you could go on a quest to capture your first pet. Though Rappelz is still working on adding more in future expansions, there are only about 12 pets available. There are basic pets, common, uncommon, rare and unique. Anything uncommon and above are expensive beyond belief. Rare and unique pets are all but impossible to get. Common pets are expensive but obtainable and basic pets clog up your storage.
Dragon Oath boasts at having 400,000 different types of pets. ._. And the pets you can obtain aren't even the types of monsters you can battle all over the lands. xD Unless you visit pet island and fight the monsters there, in which catch-able pets will drop and allow you to catch them. So far I have no reason to doubt that Dragon Oath definitely has MANY pets. xD Each with their own unique skills, talents, abilities and personalities. So yes, they can battle with you. nn And you can own up to 2 when you first start out(You can also release pets whenever you want). As you level, you can carry more and more pets with you. As of yet, there isn't a storage for pets, but you can buy a pet "shop" page and store several of them in there until they get a stable/storage pet feature. There are tons of pets, mostly the lower level ones are "cutesy" but as you level up the grander ones are in the higher levels o'course and even then, even the basic pets have their rare types. You can also breed pets(they have genders) to get rarer ones with better stats and they gain the skills of their parents.
