Name: Karasis
Gender: N/A
Age: Ageless
Race: Raven
Sub-Race: Spirit/Celestial
Breed: Black raven
Appearance: It looks like a large black raven with extremely glossy feathers that never seem to get dirty. It has clear blue eyes that seem to reflect a perfect, cloudless sky. It is beautiful and glorious and everything that Mánu is not. When you look into its eyes, you feel comforted and trusting and nothing in your past bothers you; you have a whole new future to look forward to.
Magic: Karasis is assigned the task of bringing life. Everyone sees Karasis when he or she is born, but since they are so young at the time, people rarely remember it. Only those that have the privilege of being reborn or those who have a heightened awareness at birth know of Karasis. Sometimes people recall only twin sapphires that were Karasis's clear blue eyes. Karasis is the Bringer of Life, and if you see it (though it is easy to mistake it for a normal raven), you know you are being given a second chance.
Personality: Karasis says little; in fact, almost no one has ever heard it speak. It simply comes to bring newborn spirits to their bodies, breathing life into all that have been given this precious gift. It and its counterpart, the soul-reaper Mánu, sometimes show up to claim the same spirit. When Mánu wins, that is when you have infant mortality, but Karasis fights for every newborn's life. It is a huge believer in second chances, but rarely does it give them. Sometimes Karasis uses the gift of life as a curse, when it unleashes it upon those who should otherwise die, but who have committed such evils that it is a greater punishment to let them live. Or sometimes Karasis fights for those who are tortured, who would want to die, but whom Karasis believes deserve life.
History: Karasis has been around since the very beginning of life, bearing the first spirit to its newly created body. When Mánu was charged with bearing the dead spirits to their proper place in the afterlife, it sometimes fought Karasis for the right to a certain soul. But Karasis has always been stronger than Mánu. It could win every battle if it wanted to, but sometimes it does not believe that the gift of life is worth the fight over a certain individual. In those cases, it gives in, allowing Mánu to carry that spirit to the dead. Karasis shows itself to mortals even more rarely than Mánu does.
