Main Appearance, Human
There is one thing you notice when you first take a look at this young man and that is his height. He is down right short at only five feet and a few spare inches. Most men of his age are at least reading five and a half feet but this poor being reaches five-three with heeled shoes. He isn’t likely to grow much taller in his years of growth and his figure shows such. He is a very, very small boy and with this only weighs a mere one hundred and eleven pounds. This shows that his build is quite small as well as being athletic, due to the great amount of running he takes place in. Participation in several school sports leaves his body toned though not quite muscular. It is a lot easier to run with a body of stamina over that built up by a lot of weight lifting. All of this figure is covered in a fairly pale skin, though holding a natural tan due to amount of exercise.
Atop that lean body is an even thinner head, well rounded and quite oval-shaped. His cheeks are thinned and lead into heavy set eyes. These eyes are often heavily hooded and drift somewhere between a dreamy grey and a succulent green. Over these small eyes are bushy brows, often covered by a mop of reddish-brown wisps. These cover up quite a large forehead as well as the bridge of his nose, often falling into his eyes and creating quite a hassle for the boy’s already less-than-perfect vision. His nose is defiantly the most noticeable feature on his face. It isn’t small nor very cute however it is upturned like most button noses seem to be. However it is fairly large and takes most of the attention that is draw to otherwise puppy-cute features. He has never been considered attractive but instead adorable or sweet looking. Possibly due to those miniature dimples beside such pettily puckered lips.
This brings us to that great beast that he likes to call hair. He should cut it, really that thing needs sheers taken to the sides. He is often told that a trim will do him a little good, clear up all those wild bits. He’d prefer to use a hand, not often a comb, and just shake it out a bit. This does one good thing on his part by showing that there is depth to the color of his hair. It is not only a lighter brown but also has red undertones. Parts of it curls around his ears while others choose to have their waves around the nape of his neck. Finally there are shorter pieces, on the straight side, that cling wildly to the top of his head. These layers are a product of a bad haircut that he refused to change at all, instead optioning to let it grow out.
His style is a bit more on the higher dressed side. It isn’t that he comes from a family of money but rather that he enjoys having a more formal attire. Now when I say formal I’m not talking about a suit everyday, though he does have at least one stowed away in his closet, but more or less a well built closet of ties and vests. These are color coordinated with each outfit, showing a sense of control most often hidden to the public eye. Pants are usually kept in darker colors but range from anything to a thin trouser to a tight jean. These are usually tailored or rolled up at the ends due to his smaller size. Most of his clothing has been tailored or altered in some way, seeing as he has a hard time finding something that fits him perfectly. His shoes on the other hand are a bit more on the casual side and show a casual style to rival that of the rest of his attire. These usually consider of some sort of slip on tennis shoe.
Last but not least we get to his posture. Posture is most likely the least important thing to this young male. Though usually dressed quite nicely that all seems to disappear once he slips into his comforting slouch. His shoulders tend to roll forward, bringing his back to be quite rounded. No one could tell this boy something he hasn’t heard about what problems this will cause in his future. This is how he shows his emotions, however, making his body language a road map through his mind. Most give subtle hints to their thoughts those their body however his are like bright neon lights showing what upsets him. When happy he often fits into that usual positioning while he tenses up the moment he is irritated. When finally he is sad there is quite a few nervous twitches he displays, including an annoying tapping of anything he can find.
Personality:
Little Zane’s self esteem could be described as low at the very best. He isn’t the big hotshot of campus nor is he one of those hormone driven freshmen that think they are. He’s just another face in the crowd, another name on the roster. Because of this he hasn’t exactly made an impact on those around him. He is the man that is particularly skilled at going through his life unnoticed, unnamed. It isn’t just his family that has contributed to this problem of course. Those who are classmates with Mr. Hound find him nothing more than average. Average grades, average talent, average looks—nothing particularly intriguing. You could easily call him a ghost amongst his peers and family alike. In turn he does everything for the approval of others.
A huge problem of Zane’s would be that he doesn’t know when to let something go. With a sense of determination that goes unrivaled it is all about proving himself with this young man. This can easily be taken too far, though. He doesn’t quite know when enough is enough; seeming easily obsessed and very driven. As an example he once asked this girl to a dance with him and she soon found herself being paraded with pictures of them pasted together, and love songs that had stolen their way into her locker. She now holds a restraining order against the overeager boy.
Loyalty is a high ranking quality in this man, not only in himself but in all of those around him. He tends to be a tad to naïve, easily being led into almost any fool’s bet. However it is said he can’t help but have a natural trust in people as well as promising them only his upmost loyalty. He will be the greatest friend you will ever have and once called upon he will do almost anything for someone in need. This can also relate back to his inability to stop when others advise him to. When allowing this man to take on a job for you keep in mind he won’t stop until he’s seen it completely through.
Stubborn as a mule it is often found that Zane will only go his way, everyone else can take the highway. To suggest a course of action would be just as useful as suggesting it to a wall, actually the bricks might absorb your thoughts better then he will. If someone doesn’t know him enough to suggest something they will find the only ugly side of Zane that he allows people to see. This would be that he often snaps at anyone who gets in his way of what he wants. This sort of selfishness you see often in the young man and cannot often be overlooked. Hardheaded ways to run in the family if you’ve ever taken the time to meet his siblings.
Since he is most often unable to control anything in his life, due to such a easily fooled nature, he is almost adamant about taking control of the things he can. These include his school as well as his choice of friends. Though extremely amiable and submissive when it comes to friendships there are certain aspects he just needs control of. This includes the amount of time they spend with him, the number of unreturned favors he will allow, and who he will allow them to talk to. A bit obsessive his need for control often goes unnoticed by the people who are less then the closest with him. This often spurs an easily angered teen into spurring anyone who doesn’t follow his well laid plans. All in all he has the temper of a dog, harsh and quickly faded.
He keeps his tongue fairly tied but it is well known that he gets easily irritated with people. However he needs people more than anything else. Without a friend there to be with him in the down times or someone to celebrate his victories he sees no point in doing anything. This can often be seen that when he feels alone he will be contented to do nothing more than to keep his little nose plugged into a good movie, rather than to excel at any given thing. One especially sees this in sports when he feels like he isn’t apart of the team, he will outright throw the game.
Okay so he lied about that much. This man can’t turn in a term paper without worrying that he will fail it. If he fails the paper, he’ll fail the class, if he fails the class he will fail high school, if he fails high school he can’t get a good job, and if he doesn’t get a good job he will be tied down by his lack of knowledge for the rest of his—See how he can turn something so little into a problem with will hurt him for the rest of his life? Zane just worries about every little thing, allowing his quickly distracted mind to jump to a million conclusions in a moment’s notice. This quick thinking can aid him as well as fight against him and is often doing the latter.
Biography:
Joseph Bono led the prefect life. He was valedictorian, giving an emotion stirring speech of the ages, and left with his high school sweetheart’s promise of marriage. They did indeed get married and soon after he left to fight the good fight, the one of the Military. Alana was happy to stay in that small Louisiana town and allow the love of her life to fight for everything that she saw as good and righteous. Though the worry did consume her at times Joseph was, for the most part, kept off the front lines and visiting home often enough. Well often enough to impregnate his young eighteen year old wife. Both parents were stoked by the announcement of the gurgling and bouncing newborn baby boy.
It would be the only child the Bonos would have the time to conceive. Joseph easily moved up the ranks and it only took a few short years to have him working as a drill leader. This brought the Bono family to move their small bundle and the rest of their life from their small home to every corner of the unknown world. This wore on the newly made mother, and in turn took a hand across Joseph’s face. Even though she had her cookie cuter home and lovely little life Alana questioned this all. The fights broke out fairly soon between the now married for a few short years. These fights often ended with Joseph spending weeks at the base and Alana spending weeks in tears with a terrible two year old. Zane didn’t quite understand the strain he had brought into the prefect couple’s life.
He also didn’t realize that the strange men who appeared at their modest home to see his mother were not normal in any home. Then again trying to tell a three year old that you are having martial problems with his father and thus are looking for other men to please you is something beyond the normal figuring capacity. Needless to say adding in a troublesome child to the mix was a problem for disaster. She couldn’t carry on this act long without Joseph figuring out. It only took a few months to be exact. A few months and Alana found herself facing a divorce from not only her husband but the strict values she had learned to love during her own upbringing.
The parting was tragic and the fight for custody of the three year old boy was even worse. It wasn’t that both wanted the child but rather that both wanted the other to take care of the child. In the end the duty was pushed off onto Joseph seeing as he had the stable job of the two. Though completely unaware of what was going on at the time the consequences have never once faded. Joseph was a good man, no doubt, but he was by no means a father. He was what this land had formed him to be, a solider. He treated that small boy as such as he drilled him through meals, bed times, and nannies.
The child could not complain, of course. Though he did often cry out for his mother at times when the nanny tried to sooth him into being obedient; there was not a time when he would speak against his father. Though the man had never hit the boy the threats of him raising his hand were enough to keep Zane in line. The usual curiosities of a growing boy were lost in these fears and soon he was developing a reserved nature unlike any other. He feared bleeding, something a youth should become accustom to, and this kept him from going outside. By age five these fears had stopped him from developing at the rate he should have been, bringing fear to his nannies for their lack of teaching abilities.
Joseph would not allow his son to become a ghost of a child and thus began to enroll the boy in sports and other such trainings. Much to his dismay Zane did not exhibit a lick of competitive drive. Each night after returning home from those practices, which Joseph had made quite sure he would not miss, Zane was the victim of many crude insults not only to himself but to the woman he remembered faintly to be his mother. Though he did not excel at any given activity the youth would never complain, never stop trying. Luckily Joseph had other matters to attend to, including wedding the young nanny he had taken a liking to.
Zane was the seven year old ring bearer at their Spring wedding, only partially aware of what the two were doing. Unfortunately like any seven year old boy he did not sit through the ceremony and started this couple off with two swallowed wedding rings and a half eaten wedding cake. Needless to say the newlyweds were quite displeased by the boy from the beginning of their union.
Almost right after the two were married, causing quite a stir and boughts of rumors amongst the community, Elizabeth began to show a swollen stomach. Being quite obvious the reason the two were wed that bouncing baby boy joined the world six months later. Little Joseph Allen Jr. was the joy of the family’s life from the moment he came out of womb with that thick nose of his father. He was indeed the child that Joseph Sr. had been waiting for, a child he could make and raise himself. He loved that child and did everything in his power to make sure he now had a say in raising it.
The little family grew like much like that. Two more children followed but none of them were as well cherished as Joey would become. You could say this was the nail in the coffin for otherwise quiet and reserved Zane. He became eager to please anyone who would place expectations upon his little red head. He took a precision to everything that a nine year old boy usually would not. No one could take sports or education down to such an art like Zane Hound. He was not by any means the best; actually he was a step above some of the worst, but he was said to have the most heart.
It would never be enough to satisfy his father. This turned the boy’s attention to a series of textbooks. His interest in the regular functions of the human body went unrivaled. Often it would be told that he would scare away the little ones who would reach out to be his friend with his enthusiastic recitation of the bones and corresponding skeletal muscles. He did make his fair share of friends, as long as he learned to keep his small mouth shut. Making it so he wasn’t completely alone as a child, just avoided by most.
This trend continued into his school years, keeping the usual interactions with his peers to a minimum. However there were a few that would put up with the amiable little boy, even if most social situations didn’t exactly suit him. That was all but Andrew Morsee. Now little Andrew didn’t like Zane, never quite did. Zane had only been there a few months, seeing as he moved routinely from school to school through out his early years of education, and already Andy had had enough of his quiet manner. Though Zane did his best to avoid the fight, not being one to take part in violence due to his small stature, it in the end was unavoidable. Surprisingly Zane was the first to throw the punch, leading himself from a fairly uneventful life into that of one he yearned to know. Another punch and the boy was down, but he didn’t stop there. The other small boy left with a broken nose and a dislocated jaw.
The following year Zane was sent away, much to his father’s dismay. He will always argue that the fight sprouted out of no where. He had done all he could to raise the boy and give him all the opportunities a young man should have. Zane will always argue that his father had better things to attend to, just like he does. Because of such a strict upbringing from two ungifted humans his powers have yet to be discovered.
