Name:
Acala (ah-cah-lah)
Gender:
Female
Race:
Dragon
Sub-Race:
Celestial
Appearance:
Height: 15ft at the shoulder
Wing Span: 15ft
Acala is very statuesque dragon. The gentle curve of her neck gives her an almost regal appearance. She holds her head high, though not in a snobbish sense. Her scales are a very pale, almost white, blue and iridescent, giving her scales different hues of blues, greens, and reds in the proper light. It has been said that her hide resembles that of some exotic jewel, or a pure crystal. From atop her graceful head, two horns protrude from either side, growing in a gentle undulating pattern that angles back from her head. Down her spine there are crystal-like spikes that gradually decrease in size as they go down her back and vanish by the end of her tail. Her wings resemble that of a bat. Her wings have the same iridescent property as her scales. There is a crystalline claw the sticks out at the top joint that matches the ones on her paws. Her overall build is not exactly petite, but a bit on the stocky side. Her body is not heavy, it just isn’t serpent like (as is Chinese style dragons. More of European forest type…if that makes sense).
Her eyes are a pale grey. She has been mistaken for being blind, but her vision is sharper than a samurai’s sword. She has deep blue marking on her forehead, an elongated diamond shape, with a slightly raised bump in the center of it.
Around her neck is a red orb suspended by a seemingly delicate chain. A metal cage, on that resemble a miniature dragon hand, clasps the gem and holds it tight. The gem will hum at a very low frequency, one that only she and a few other blessed with truly exceptional hearing can pick up, whenever magic is used. She also wears a small blue gem in a crude metal cage suspended on a leather string. It is one of only two tears she has ever shed in her entire life. This jewel has the same response to magic as the red orb.
Personality:
Acala is a wise and calm old dragon. She is cool-headed and usually thinks before she speaks. Her patience has been and compared to that of saint-like quality. She has a tendency to watch other very closely, though not for defensive purposes, but more to read others. She is a very…perceptive dragon. She tends to be able tell people things about themselves that they don’t always like to hear.
Acala has a fondness for children and often refers to anyone younger than her, which tends to be most dragons, as “young one.” Her voice is gentle and soothing. She is not one to sing, but she will often hum an ancient song to herself when no one is around. She will often sit and contemplate certain philosophical aspects of life and of life itself. You see, Acala in a dragon of innumerable age, and after so many years, she wonders why death has not taken her. She not a fragile dragon, not by far.
She doesn’t like to fly very often and is usually in a cave or perched on higher ground. When she is perched, she will survey the land, or watch something for hours on end. It isn’t uncommon for birds and butterflies to land on her. When this happens, she simply smiles at them and returns to her gazing.
Biography:
Acala was born sometime long before the numbers of her kind were as vast as they are today. She remembers little of her family. What she does remember is that her father bestowed upon her the necklace she bares around her neck. She remembers her parents being of dark coloring, but what specifically she cannot say. And finally, she remembers love. She remembers a sense of happiness and well-being when she thinks of her distant past. How she came to be alone, though, she does not remember.
Not long after she had first become alone, she had met a male dragon who showed her kindness. He was to be a mate to her, but he proved to a demon, trying to get a hold of her family heirloom. For a while after that, she trusted none. She went through the world quietly and untrusting, until eventually the loneliness began to take its toll. She met another dragon, a female named Isania, who taught her to trust again, who taught her the beauty of friendship. The two were inseparable for a very long time, and they matured together.
One day, however, there was a small war between the dragons of the area, and Isania was caught in the crossfire. She had taken a powerful hit to the head and fell from a great altitude. When Acala reached her, she had hit the ground, and died of the impact. Before that time, she had never cried…never. But at this, she shed two deep blue tears that crystallized before the hit the earth. She cried out, shaking the battle field with her grief. At the same time, the two crystallized tears and the red orb burst into light, and a shockwave reverberated from her body, freezing everything for miles. She passed out just after that, falling over Isania’s body.
She lay like that for goddess only knows how many days. When she finally awoke, she saw what she had done. She look to her dear friends body, and it was completely encased in ice, perfectly preserved. With a heavy heart, she took the body to the frozen land to the north, and carved a monument of ice to her fallen friend. Isania’s body is still there to this day, frozen forever in Acala’s awakening frost.
It took many, many years for Acala to let go of her grief. She wished for death many times, but it never came. She had even tempted death to her, but even then, it would not come. After sometime in a very special cavern, she had a revelation, a vision, if you will. From this, she was able see that although the death was tragic, there was nothing she could do now, and she would have to move on.
From then on, she worked to hone her new found ice magic. She became a master in her field and at the time, she was renown for it. However, as time does, it passed and maybe who had known of her past away. She learned to accept that beings died, and new one took their place, but for some reason, she did not die. She never even took ill, The phenomenon was strange to her, but she did not test it, and was content to accept it and be grateful.
Since then, she has seen knew kinds of animals be born, and die out, and seen new ones take their place. Sometime in the last two decades, she met with a wolf couple. A male named Jasha, who had an unknown ancestry and a female, named Accalia, from a cruel pack. The two had eloped and the female was with child…well, children. Acala could sense that two of the offspring had been endowed with powerful magic. She gifted Accalia with one of her crystallized tears, which was wrapped in a crude metal cage and strung on a special leather band. She told the two of their gifted offspring and told then that the gentlest of the two shall receive the necklace one she is to some into her powers, and that the stronger willed of the two must be taught to fight to protect the other. The two took head of the words of the old dragon, to her relief, for the two gifted young that Accalia was to bare had the potential for great and mysterious things.
Now, Acala wanders the lands. She has no specific home. She hopes to one day meet with the two offspring of Accalia and Jasha, and find what kind of wolves they have become. Until then, though, she will wander.
Magic:
Ice
Spells:
Ice Breath: With a puff of air from her massive lungs, Acala can gently cool to the point freezing whatever is in the path of her breath. This spell can leave her a tad breathless.
Insta-freeze: With a motion of her hand, she can instantly freeze an object/being/part of a being. This spell requires the presence of water, whether that be in the air, in a plant, or else where. If she is in a dry place, such as a desert, this spell is nullified.
Rain of Spears: If Acala is in a highly aggressive situation, she can freeze any nearby water source, freeze it into shards of varying sizes, and rain it down upon the aggressor. This spell, of course, has the same limitations as the last, but it also can only be aimed one barrage at a time. She can have it sweep across an area, but it becomes slightly less accurate.
