This section is simply a description of all the leading ranks within Shinkou, Akeru and Giaku.
-All the ranks listed on this page are not open for members to freely choose. Because they are leader ranks, they are limited. Do not ask if your wolf can choose one of these ranks; the answer will always be no. These ranks are only ever available when staff makes an announcement asking for characters to apply.
Shinkou and Akeru Leader Ranks-
The Council
The Alpha Pair- (Ryuji- Female, Ryuga- Male) The absolute "rulers" of the pack as a whole. The Alphas possess a responsibility of maintaining order and peace in the pack. Normally they have the greatest free-will to do as they please, as long as they remain good leaders. The Alphas must be mates in Shinkou in order to be an "Alpha pair". There can only be one Alpha Male and one Alpha Female. They have authority over all wolves within the pack.
Beta- (Hakkei) Known as "second in command" to the Alphas. Betas are like the Alphas themselves, yet over the Alphas, Betas do not have the last say so. Betas are the most trusted by the Alpha amongst all wolves in the pack. A Beta is normally responsible for rallying hunts or other activities and sometimes act as representatives of their pack. The Betas usually work together to help the pack by word of the Alpha. They have authority over most wolves save for the Alpha.
Gamma- (Teimai) In the wolf pack pecking order, Gammas are the equivalent to being secretaries to the Alphas. They tend to be good strategists in times of war, and will usually be around to aide the Alphas and give advice. They are respected as advisers and may be very experienced in life, most often revered as the "wise-wolves" of the pack. They normally give the Deltas orders, similar to commanding generals, from the word of the Alpha or Beta. They have authority over most wolves save for the Beta and Alpha.
Honored
Heir- Given special rank because of their lineage, heirs are the direct sons and daughters of the alpha. The level of respect they receive and authority that they have over the pack is determined by their attitude and devotion. Traditionally when the alphas either step down or are lost through another means, the pack may then look to the Heirs for a new leader.
Gate Keepers- (Fukei) The Fukei rank is a traditional rank brought about by the job of two skilled wolves who assist the spirits that are born from Mizu Lake. Usually they have spent years working with and helping the Spirits and possess a greater knowledge of them than any other wolf in the pack. Though they do not have authority over the Alphas, Betas or Gammas, they are highly respected by the other leaders for the responsibility they have been given. Fukei act as mentors and teachers to the younger, less experienced Sho'un.
Giaku Leader Ranks-
The Royalty
Emperor & Empress- Not unlike an alpha pair, the Emperor and Empress are the supreme rulers of Giaku. Their words are law, and anyone that dares to defy them will be rightly punished. Traditionally, it is the duty of the Emperor to lead his forces into war and to oversee his empire. It is he who holds supreme authority. The duty of the Empress is to produce heirs so that the royal line remains secure. However, in the event that a female is heir to the empire, then she will harness the highest authority, even over her own mate.
Prince & Princess- Born from the Emperor and Empress. The duty of the princes and princesses is to learn all aspects of the empire. The firstborn male is the heir to the empire if the emperor has died. If there is no firstborn male available, then the title will be handed down to the firstborn available princess.
Nobles- The nobles are those that are blood related to the Emperor and Empress. If something should happen to the princes and princesses, then the Nobles are found to take their place. They are next in line to rule. They do not have to be members of Giaku to hold this title.
The High Council
Dominus & Domina- (Lord & Lady) The second highest exclusive rank. The Emperor and Empress may assign a Lord and Lady to preside as temporary leader to stand in for them if they are away. They are usually close to the Giaku leaders, the most trusted, and bearers of good advice in bad times. It is not unusual for the Lord & Lady to be mates. If the Emperor and Empress never bear a prodigy and do not have siblings to take their place, the Lord and Lady will become the next rulers of the Giaku empire. Traditionally, the Lord holds higher authority than the female.
Dux ducis- (General) A very difficult position to accomplish. However it is possible, and only the strongest, smartest, and most experienced warriors are considered for this auspicious position. They must be willing to obey orders given by the Emperor without hesitation. They oversee all the soldiers, train them, and command them in battle. The Emperor harbors four generals in his stead.
