I've been talking with Fely, we both mentioning different things about our lives, such as College taking over a HUGE portion of it, making things hectic. So... i got to wondering... What was everyone's take on it. How was your time, or is your time in College, did you meet anyone who's on here now? All that jazz... I'm curious to know. For me, I just started my Freshman year of college in New York. I'm attending Onondaga Community College, and I've been taking courses in the general computer science field. I'm going for my Associates Degree in Computer Engineering and I;m planning on getting into the making of video games. That's right. I'm gonna be the one to make a game based off of this place, with the blessings of the Admins and everyone else, which'll bring a whole new interest to the site. So yeah... I want to hear about how people's college experiences are and were. I want to know people's expectations and the like!

That's very interesting... but you'll definitely have to speak with Wom because she's already making a game based on Shinkou Ookami, unless you already talked to her and she's willing for you to help. >> Every now and then, Wom shows us pictures of the 3D WIP landscapes of SO.
If you want my honest opinion, my college life isn't that interesting. It's fun, but monotonous. Lmfao... third year Language Arts major... gonna be a teacher. College takes up most of my time because I am a full-time student now... used to be employed...
Yeah that's preeeetty much it.

College was a very different time with me. Where a lot of my friends went to the local community college, I went to the one that was a 45 minute commute to a different there. Its where I met my husband and really grew up maturity wise. From there I went to the University for two years, graduated, and then had an extra year for my credentials. I loved college. Absolutely loved it. I didnt get the chance of going to a prestigious college or staying in dorms or anything like that, but college to me was that much better than high school.
e.e
I can't wait to go back lmfao

To be honest, I left college in the past and never intend to return to that monstrosity of a prison. It's nothing but a waste of time, effort, intellect, and finances to me. No matter which college I landed in--private, public, small, or large--I still felt as if I was there to merely aid the school's monetary needs and nothing more. The education was guaranteed to be shoddy from the get-go (ever had four out of five teachers not come in to class on the first day of school?), as was the "tutoring" that they offered.
Don't get me wrong, I strived for my education early on, longed for it. But college's high standards and low education quality took whatever little interest, dedication, and hopes I had in a future with a degree in hand and smashed it dead. I'd rather be working on my resume and actually doing something beneficial with my time. Sorry to be the Debbie Downer here, but I'm just giving my honest opinion on it. It may be because Oklahoman schools just suck in general (which I wouldn't doubt) that I'm so against college...

Personally, I think that those two accounts are interesting. It gives me an idea of what my friends are going for, because I think that almost everyone on here is at least a kind of friend. Both accounts give me an idea of what to expect. There's a lot of new things that I have to go forward to, live through, work with and all that... That and there's two girls that I'm trying to hook up with. If I can get one, and I don't know how I'm going to be able to do it, I'd be happier then ever. I've never, and this is a personal thing that I feel like I can share, had a girlfriend. All through High School, i've wanted one, but never had the ability to go after a girl I liked. I guess I was timid, which I still am quite a bit lol...
But in regards to the game... i haven't talked to Wom about it. If she needs help with it, then I'd gladly help to make it, but with my limited understanding of the subject, at the current time, i don't know what exactly I would be helping with.

I've had an iffy experience. Like, it could have been better, but it was partly my fault. Finding out that my strong point was actually in New Media rather than Graphic Design(my original major) 5 years into college totally sucked, but I'm happy that I found out that I really, REALLY love the whole of what goes into New Media. x3
I'm taking 3D animation this semester and it got me all fired up about the SO mmo idea we've had for like...ever. >> Shoot, way back when, I remember we plotted to even make the whole game sprite based, eww. Dx If you're learning any C++, that would be completely awesome and coincidental! Because I'm learning the 3D modeling at the moment, but I have yet to delve into the actual programming.

I think Wom's ADD interrupted the project, lmao. But maybe some renewed interest would re-inspire her.
I love college. It's very busy for me this year as my senior year. I won't say what school I go to because it's possible some of you have heard of it and might think I'm trying to brag. I'm not -- any prestige my school has doesn't really matter in the long run. It was just a perfect fit for me. And that's not always easy to find. I was lucky to be so happy here. It matched everything I was looking for.
Granted, I still might be screwed as I go into the economy because I want to work at a publishing company like Random House or HarperCollins, but I also want to become a published author, like as my main source of income, and we all know how difficult (nigh impossible) that would be. (I major in Creative Writing.) It's still my ultimate dream and I don't ever want to give up, even if it means some years of suffering/starving artisthood to come.
But the frightening future aside, I have adored my time at college. And ever since I've come back from that semester abroad, I've appreciated the things I have here, the people I've met, more and more. I'm living with many of my very close friends and -- even though there's a helluva lot of cleaning to do in this house -- I'm loving every second. Yes, I'll be in debt for the rest of forever. But I'm glad I haven't missed out on this experience. It's meant the whole world to me.
But that's just me, and I admit I've been superduper lucky.
Also, with regards to relationships...college is definitely more conducive for romance, just because you're more likely to find people you have common interests with there instead of high school. It doesn't always happen magically, like you do have to put effort into it, but for romance in general, well, you just never know till you turn around and there's someone in a mask at a party or some childhood friend you never looked at that way before until then. =)
