Livia
-Liv comes from live, Livia means to live again-
~commonly known as winged wolves~
-Live-e-ah-
-------------------
Information
-------------------
Livia are creatures of Shinkou, most of them were all normal once. A Livia is created by a great deal of emotion, of wanting to escape, the need to live so badly. Wing's gift to the wolf is to escape, and flee their own life.
Livia who were once normal Wolves:
Unless destined to be a Livia, the wolves are born normal looking wolves. It is a tragic event in their life that causes them to change. Often the tragic event is when the wolf's life is at stake, and they greatly want to live or escape their life. Often these wolves are young and tend to be in their early years.
Destined to be Livia:
When born, they have a mark on them, the beginning of the design. When the wolf grows, so does the mark, at times the mark doesn't grow. But, when the wolf first pulls out their wings, the mark glows brilliantly and grows to a larger mark, or more marks appear. At times the mark may not change that much.
-------------------
Appearance
-------------------
Livia are wolfs, but they are wolves with wings. Livia tend to be smaller wolves, and they don't ever get that fat. Their light bird-like bones make then lighter.
Height:
The height of a male often varies, though the typical male Livia is between two feet and three feet and two inches. Though a male can get larger than that, it is rare.
Female height is much smaller than the male, it is between two and two feet and nine inches. It is the same with the male, there are cases when the female gets to a larger height.
Designs:
The patterns, and colors of Livia can vary, but the most common attribute, other than their wings, is their inrticate designs. Every Livia has their own design and color. The designs can vary from one single mark on their forehead, to thousands of designs all over the wolf's body. If Livia were once only a wolf before, when they become a Livia the designs begin to appear on them, days after the transformation, though they only appear faintly till they come out on their flow blown color. Though, on rare occasions, those who are destined to be Livia are often born with the tattoo-like birth mark. That design can grow, the more the wolf grows, till the Wolf becomes a Livia. This is often the case when a Livia mates.
Colors:
As said before, the color of the wolf can be anything, the fur patterns can be great variations. Though, if the Livia was once a normal wolf, their patterns won't change that much when they transform. The color of their designs often can be related to their magic, but it doesn't have to be.
--------------------------
Life Style of Livia
--------------------------
Lifespan:
The average Livia often lives as long as your normal wolf, no less unless they are killed. But their magic expands their life time by five to ten years.
The Legend:
Livia have always been around the world. The first Livia was created by a great fire that threatened to destroy a small plot of land. It was a wolf who was bonded with a spirit, a great powerful air spirit. Some say that the spirit wasn't a spirit at all, but maybe a more powerful being. The spirit loved the wolf dearly, and did not want to see him get hurt, so it gave up it's only essence and gave the wolf wings. Often this being is said to watch over the land, and protect pups from danger, giving them too, wings.
Magic:
A Livia can have any type of magic, they aren't limited to one type of magic, they can have up to two types.
Mates and Breeding:
When a Livia is finding a mate, the mate can be either just a normal wolf, another Liva, or another wolf race. When Livia breed, their pups have a great chance as being born a destined pup, though, some pups might not be Livia.
Nutrition:
One reason that Livia never seem to get fat is because they burn through food like no other. When flying, they burn energy faster. This causes them to have to each more often and eat a lot more. If a Livia can't eat enough food, they begin to get really tired, and they get more and more sleepy the longer they go with out food. If they can't get enough, they will often go dormant for many years, or a whole season, till they can get the right about of nutrition.
Light Bird-Like Bones:
Even though Livia have very light bones, doesn't mean they break easier. Their bones are about as strong as a normal wolves, maybe a little weaker, but they are not prone to break unless it was a mutation to the Livia.
---------------------
Transformation
---------------------
Virgin Transformation:
When the Livia first transform, or in other words, summon their wings, it is a great burning pain. Often after the first transformation the wolves are knocked out for several days. The first transformation is the worst because this is when the wolf actually becomes a Livia. During the days that the wolf is knocked their body changes, their bones become lighter, their lungs enlarge, and possibly they might get smaller. Also, this is when the first marks begin to faintly appear, if they weren't destined.
Regular Transformation:
After the first summoning, calling their wings is easier. Even though Livia are winged wolves, they don't always have wings. When I say 'summoned' I mean summoned, if a wolf needs, or just wants, their wings, feathers gather at the base of their shoulders and continue to gather till they are solid wings. The designs on the feathers can glow and lock together as if to hold the wings together, though not all wolves have designs all over their bodies. These wings are real wings, not just made out of feathers. If you cut one, blood will draw from it and it will hurt the Livia. Some Livia choose to always have their wings drawn, the only difference this makes is that this can cause more energy to burn if they are using them more. If a Livia decides that they don't need their wings anymore at the moment, the simply can reverse the transformation, this just causes the wings to turn into feathers and dispatch. They only thing that the Livia feels is numbness of their wings, often on the first couple times that they transform is when they feel loss that their wings are gone, though they can always summon them back. The wings rarely ever give away when the Livia is flying, the Livia has to actually take away the transformation to do that.
