Tristesse was more than ecstatic when he returned her playful gesture, not only posturing playfully, but actually delving into the game. Her tail wagged furiously, and she let out a bark. When he faked her out with another jump, she jumped backward and pawed at the air once more, before assuming her playful position. This was going to be too much fun.
First, she attempted to tackle him, aiming to tug lightly on his ear. Then, she leapt from her original position, running a broad half-circle around him, stopping only to yip at him from behind before she shot off deeper into the field, hoping that he would give chase. As she ran, turning about to see if he had been chasing her, she began to ponder his features. She remembered the flash of sorrow that she had seen on his face. What made him look like that? She remembered seeing that look on her mother's face many times, and that thought made her heart sink. Would he leave her all on her own as well?
She turned, her pace slowing to a stop. Regardless of whether he was chasing her or not, she would sit down and stare at him, her slightly angled backward. She heard a faint whisper of a spirit, but it didn't register. She didn't want her new friend to dissappear. She didn't want to play anymore. She sat, her eyes pinned on him, thinking, waiting.
