The stormy clouds covered the sky, the land of Gorotsuki Riku was reasonably quiet. It was the early morning, coldness still taking it's newborn cold on the land. The only thing that disturbed the land was a far off yowl of a young wolf, and a growl of an angry mother grizzly bear.
"Gah!" He screamed, his legs working faster than they had before. "Why is it always me!?" He begged. "Are the gods working against me!?" He wailed, in response the grizzly bear growl angrily. She was too close behind him. His hunger was a never ending need in the pit of his stomach, making Dion feel empty. Dion wouldn't of been in this situation if he hadn't given into his curiosity.
A couple moments ago, Dion had awoken early in the day, searching for the last bit of warmth and food. He scavenged the ground, digging for roots. He caught sight of a wonderful rabbit. When chasing after it, he ran into a peculiar thing. It was a miniature version of a bear. He never has seen seen such a thing! It was all fluffy and innocent, he didn't think it would cause him any harm. He walked over to it, seeing that the cub was going to be a carnivore.
"Hello," Dion smiled, but got no response. Only a bewildered look in return. Dion crouched down playfully, his tail wagging. The bear didn't like it. The cub yowled out in terror. A large painful cry. "N-No!" Dion stuttered. "I don't want to hurt you, I want to b-" A deep snort behind him brushed warm hot breath through his fur. When he looked behind him, it was a chocolate bear with bright blue eyes. Dion shivered, this large bear had fangs and claws, more lethal than what Dion could muster at the moment, so he shot off running.
Dion tripped, yelping in pain. A crushing pain flattened to the ground as the bear let out a gruff of surprise. Dion took what little chance he had and stood, and started to run again, but the bear grabbed onto his tail. Dion let out a short howl if surprise that was cut off by a sharp growl from him.
Now he was annoyed. He used his claws to dig into the bear's muzzle as he used his powerful jaws to lock onto the mother's neck fur. It surprised Dion how thick it really was. He could taste buttery blood stinging his taste buds, he wanted to puke. The groaned in anger and small pain as she let go of Dion's tail and aimed for him with her powerful claws. Dion jumped away in time, his eyes wide in fear.
I can't do this by myself! He wailed to himself. It was too late to run, he had to fight to live! He couldn't fly anymore, he didn't have enough energy to summon his wings. "I am going to die, aren't I, just because of my stupid curiosity!" He yelled at the bear. The bear seemed somewhat surprised at his outburst, but that didn't stop her anger for him being so close to her cub. [[OOC: I must really like bears x3]]

It was cold. Bitterly cold. The kind of cold that had young pups like Tristesse shaking in their fur. She was cold, but the sun was out and if she could find a steady stream of light, it warmed her slightly. Her dark fur helped to absorb sunlight. She remembered growing very hot running during the fall, and so she began to romp in the sunlight. The friction inside of her body made her warmer, her muscles rubbing against each other to create heat. Her fur kept in the warmth. She held her wings close to her body and felt much, much better.
She had seen many strange creatures in this day. Rabbits and squirrels. She even saw a large bird with extremely long legs and red eyes. It terrified her, so she had run. Tristesse smiled now, the sun on her little face. Her tail waggled a bit, even. She had come upon a small trail, worn down by who knows what. The dying grass rippled in a chilly wind. She scampered onward, cresting a hill and looking down on the world below her. He blue, doll-like eyes came upon a large brown bear chasing a wolf. Her baby-hackles rose, not very threatening.
She didn’t know what to do. She feared for this wolf, who she did not know. He was older than she, but she sensed something different about him. She stood up on her back paws, yipping and barking in an urgent manner. Her barking grew louder and louder, and suddenly caught the attnention of the bear. Just in the time that it turned its head would have allowed the wolf to run if he needed to. She figured she could outrun the bear if need be, but she kept the barking up. Tristesse was seized by fear, watching the bear, and waiting.

He heard barks in the far off distance, though he couldn't pay attention to them now. Dion winced, closing his eyes, expecting to be killed my the power claws of the bear, but when he opened his eyes, she was turned away. Happiness jolted through him and he shot off running. The bear let out a roar in annoyance, running after him once more, but she was far behind.
Dion looked around, looking for who barked, but he hardly could as the bear chased him into a curve, towards the direction of the bark. All I have to do is last running longer than the mother! What I should of done before is gone straight! Away from her cub so that she was be forced to return, gah! I am so stupid! A terrifying roar cut into his thoughts and he raced faster. He saw her, just in time. A wolfess with wings, but, she was young. She must of been the one that had barked. His eyes widened.
I can't give the bear to chase her! I can't! He yelled in his head, looking behind him the bear was getting farther and farther away from him, the distance between them steadily increasing. "FLY!" He yowled, his voice hurt his throat, he was unsure this she-pup could fly, he hoped he could, because Dion was heading right towards her.

She nearly howled in joy when the older wolf got away. The bear chased after him, but he had a good lead on her. Her paws kneaded the ground as she shifted her weight from left to right, still fearing for the wolf. Her barking had ceased, but she still watched. Her little mind was brought back to those days so few that she romped and played with her other siblings. She remembered holding her own against the other pups, when the battle turned on her. She hadn’t realized the scorn in their voices, or had denied it.
The bear had herded the wolf straight toward her. Fear grew from her stomach, and her large ears flattened. She looked at the older male, listened to his words and closed her eyes. She didn’t know how to fly, but she had seen the elders do it plenty of times. All she could do was hope that it would work. She turned and began to sprint as fast as her little legs would take her. She could feel the spirits around her shifting, the wind picking up as well. Her wings, large for her age, opened and she began to flap them. Instinct began to take over, but she could not clear the ground still. However, the blasts of air did help to speed her up. She whirred through the grass, still hearing the thumps of paws behind her.
Suddenly, as if on command, she veered off to the left. She knew she was fast, but she wasn’t thinking. She was merely doing what felt right. And so, flapping her wings and possibly drawing the bear off, she continued on, cresting the hill once more and beginning the speedy sprint downward.

Dion couldn't help but notice her large ears, she was young, and tiny, tinier than him. When she closed her blue eyes, his heart stopped. But, when she turned and sprinted, his heart leaped in joy, though he hoped she could-..... fly! Though she wasn't that far from the ground, she was going pretty fast. She was far ahead of him, swimming through the grass, he didn't have much choice but he followed her. The bear roared behind him, the mother's eyes bright with anger, yet they glittered in tiredness. The flying female in front of him suddenly took a sharp turn left, he did the same, Away from the cub! He though to himself.
The small female was quick, very quick, Dion didn't doubt her thoughts. The bear looked annoyed when Dion looked behind him, instead of him being the target, the blue eyes were locked on the small wolf pup. Dion gasped as a pain ripped through his front left paw. He tumbled over his paws, expecting to be crushed, but the mother bear jumped right over him, heading right towards the small wolfess. Dion glanced at his paw, a large pointy created a deep cut on it, it was bleeding. Dion wrinkled his nose, sitting up, his body ached, the world around him spun as adrenalin pumped through him, the pain was not felt as must as he looked up. The pup needed help, but Dion needed food to help. He decided to shout.
"Run away from me! Far from me! The same direction you are going, stay on it!" He shouted with all of his might. He decided to do the same as he limped, pulling his front right paw and pressing as close to his body as he could as he ran, limping, as fast as he could. He couldn't help but smile as he heard the bear cup yowling for it's mother.

Tristesse was mortified, suddenly. She had heard a large thump and looked behind her to see the wolf on the ground and the large mother bear leaping over him. Her doll-eyes widened and she turned around, her ears flattening and her body sinking lower to the ground, wings flapping occasionally, boosting her away from the mother. She could hear the male shouting for her to run away from him, but her small legs were tiring. She was panting heavily and tears had begun to gather in her large eyes. The tears were partly from the wind that rushed into her eyes, but also from fear. She hadn’t ever seen anything as scary as that mother bear and it was chasing her down. She swore to herself that she would never chase another insect in her life once she ditched the bear.
She also worried about the older male. What had happened to make him fall like that? Had he just let the bear be drawn to her, the smaller, easier prey? Hurt welled up in the bottom of her mind, but she couldn’t focus on that now. Right now, she had to worry on keeping her puppy-paws running, which was proving to be a problem. She was tiring fast, and running on an empty stomach. The world, however, seemed to be on her side. She was approaching tall grass that could hide her body from sight.
She leapt into the thick, tall grass with high hopes. Her wings tucked in to her body and she sprinted forward, much faster than the mother. Eventually, once she was fully surrounded by the tall grass, she slowed to a creeping walk. She could hear the mother bear about two hundred feet behind her, sniffing and looking for her. She had taken a curvy path, avoiding ditches and rough ground, but now she was looking for it. She could smell rabbit, and hoped there was a den around.
Luck was on her side; a rabbit hole was very easy to find, and Trisstesse was just small enough to fit cozily inside (after accidently scaring the hare that lived there away, of course). There she waited for the bear to lose interest, as she was backed up very far into the den, and her scent was masked by the musk of the hare.

The small pup had disappeared from Dion's sight, into the tall grass, the baby bear was wailing for it's mother. Stupid... He snorted. Something could kill it! Though, the mother didn't seem so interested in her cub anymore, she must be searching for the small pup. Dion saw a hare scatter away, Would the hare hide in it's den? He intercepted it, killing it quickly, though he didn't have much time for celebration.
The bear sniffed the air, Dion sank to the ground, Is she small enough? That pup? Could she of taken over it's den? The wind was blowing against Dion, towards the mother bear. Dion's eyes widened as her eyes landed on the hare that hung from Dion's mouth. He dropped it, stepping away, even though she was far from him, fear was like a large hole in his heart. He forced himself to swallow, then an idea pricked him.
He tore the skin of the rabbit and started eating as quickly as he could. The energy from the rabbit starting pumping through his muscles. The bear seemed to lost interest in the pup now, running at Dion, but the wolf could tell the mother was getting tired. Dion ate as much as he could before the bear was too close, he leaped into the air, feathers gathering around him, forming his powerful wings as he flapped them to get into the air. The mother ran to the rabbit, trying to see what was left. She eyed Dion who was in jumping distant above her.
Dion had gotten so out of tune to the baby bear, that only when it stopped, it shocked him. The baby's wail was cut of sickly, and quickly. His stomach turned to stone as the mother's eyes widened with fear and sorrow, she turned, running in the direction of her offspring.
Dion landed, wishing away his wings as the feathers flew away into the wind, he flattened his ears, sniffing for the small pup. "Hey?" He called softly, he couldn't smell anything but the bear, some trace of the pup, and a strong scent of hair. He licked around his muzzle trying to clean the blood. "Hello? You were brave, you know? Saving me, I-I want to thank you." He said softly, unsure of where the pup was. "You are pretty young, right? I was too, young, and on my own. I know what its like to be alone, that was really brave of you!" He sighed. "She is probably gone already..." He brought up his back paw to scratch behind his ear. He shook off his fur. "She probably doesn't want to ta-" The mother's wail of loss was heard, his fur on his neck down to his shoulders arose. "Probably should go before...." He muttered to himself.

Tristesse was panting heavily, adrenaline coursing through her veins. She heard the baby calling to its mother and heard her snorts and chuffing, trying to find her. She couldn’t stop shaking, even though she knew she was safe. Suddenly, she heard the weight of the bear shift, and heard her gallumping steps growing distant. It was the flapping of wings that began to catch her attention, though she didn’t emerge just yet. She wanted to make sure the bear was gone, though she was pretty sure she was.
She could hear the older male land and begin his talking, telling her how brave she was. A broad grin spread across her small face. She heard him talking to himself, about how she was probably gone. She slowly began to wriggle out from the hole, and began to move faster once he said he should go. He seemed nice, and she didn’t want him to leave.
Eventually, her large blue eyes appeared in the darkness as she emerged, crawling on her belly. Her ashen fur was covered in dirt and she smelled of rabbit, but she was glad to be alive and well, aside from her heavy panting. Her tail waggled back and forth as she looked up at him, not saying a word. She couldn’t really get a word out with her breathing out of control like that, so she began to catch her breath. Finally, when she was a little more stable, she suddenly became aware of how much taller than her he was, and her shyness took over. She lowered her head and muttered quietly.
“Hi..”

He had heard quiet paw steps arose, he paused wondering if that was the pup, then her bright blue eyes appeared, he stopped himself from jumping. She was out of breath, he waited in the silence for her to say something, he looked over her carefully, studying her. She was covered in dirt, and she smelt of rabbits. He perked his ears slightly. He was satisfied to see a wolf that was smaller than himself.
Her voice was sweet, and small, as young as she was, he smiled, in a friendly way, "Hello." He had said, he calmly dipped his head. "My name is Dion. Are you alright?"

Little Tristesse was no good with other wolves. She had been solitary for most of her life and now, face to face with what she had wanted for a long time, she was almost too shy to speak. Her large ears flattened to her skull and she averted her baby blue eyes to the ground. That was before he began to speak. When he spoke, it was with a calm, welcoming tone. It completely opened her shell, and she looked up at him, her ears perking up once more to listen to what he had to say. Then, the charcoal-coloured fae stretched her wings, and began to speak.
"I'm a'right." She yipped, her tail waggling ever-so-slightly. Suddenly, the little wolf came to life, excitement bubbling up inside of her.
"Did you see that bear? It was huge! She could have gobbled me up in one bite!" She squeaked, pacing and looking up to where the mother had gallumphed away to. She shivered once more, a cool breeze blowing through her fur. The first few flakes of what would be a light dusting of snow had begun to drift down and settle onto the dry grass.

The silence was prolonged, he was unsure at first, when she began to perk her ears. Dion began to wonder how long she had been without wolves. Though, she recovered so fast it was almost as if it was a whole different wolf. Dion grinned, his tail wagging too. He nodded along with the femme when she explained the bear.
Dion glanced up as a flew flakes fell. His closed his eyes, breathing in the cold air and slowly letting it out. The sky was covered in gray clouds. A flake dropped onto his nose, it felt cold enough to make him sneeze. He glanced at the small femme and chuckled.
"Did you mention your name?" He asked, tilting his head, hoping he didn't seem like he was probing. Dion had a horrible habit of probing, he was too curious for his own good.

She stared at the horizon in wonder, amazed that something that had seemed so large could have simply dissappeared like that. The bear was simply gone. Her large ears drooped in the slightest as she opened her little maw to release a yawn. She had begun to back away from where she was standing, plopping herself back into her original sitting position, when Dion began to speak. He asked for her name, and Tristesse snapped to attention, looking up at him.
"I'm Tristesse." She said, her left ear twitching. Her gaze was distracted by the larger wolf's colouring. Her eyes traced over the blue markings that spread up his legs.
"You look weird." She said, giggling. She didn't understand that it was rude, but she didn't mean it in a bad way either. She had simply not seen a wolf with those colours. The smile still lay imprinted on her maw as the snowflakes dappled her dark pelt, her eyes trained on his face, waiting for his response.

"Tristesse?" He perked his ears. At first the name rolled off of his tongue in a weird way. He cleared his throat to try again, "Tristesse." It still came out weird, he flattened his ears, chuckling through a small smile. "Sorry, if I am pronouncing your name wrong." He felt her eyes crawl up his legs.
He glanced down at his design that crawling up his legs and over his body like vines. He knew they made a mask around his eyes. He remembered a time when he was normal, just a plain brown wolf with blue eyes. But ever since then he changed. The first transformation was the worst, and most painful, but after he flew for the first time, he just felt so free! He couldn't let go of his wings, even if they came with a price.
It was like a tempting piece of meat to a starving wolf, things got ugly if you tried to take it away. His thoughts were cut off. He simply stared at her after she commented about him looking 'weird'. Though, her giggling couldn't stop him from smiling.
"I do...." He chuckled. His eyes landed on her small wings, tracings over the small pup's coat. They seem way too small for her to fly with... He thought to himself. He glanced back at Tristesse, offering a soft smile. It pained him how much she was like his own sister, but he shoved the thought away. "I can't believing it's snowing!" He grinned.

A grin had grown across her small face as he tried to pronounce her name. Her ears had flattened and she let out another small laugh.
"It's Tristesse. Like, Tree-Stess." She said, emphasizing the vowels of her name. She looked up at him, reading brief sorrow on his face before he masked it with happiness. She cocked her head to the side, her tail waggling as he exclaimed his disbelief at the fact that it was snowing. Her baby blue eyes widened at the fact, her little form bubbling with excitement all over again.
She let out a sharp little yip and ran in a swift circle, her wings extending and helping her to perform it with the utmost speed. She raised up onto her hind legs, pawing at the air up at Dion, barking once more. The puppy then leapt backward, assuming a playful position. Her chest hit the ground, her paws splayed in front of her while her rump waggled in the air, beckoning him to play with her, a playful smile on her face.

Tree-stess, He told himself smiling. He laughed when she let out a yip and ran in a circle. Her wings extended, Dion noted, which seemed to help her go a little faster. He never thought of wings that way, he usually only thought them has helping him fly, maybe it was just because when ever he thought of his wings it was for escaping into the air.
The sudden movement from the pup made him snap back to reality as she hit the ground. His smile dropped and he stared at her for a moment, then grinned playfully as he jumped into the air copying the little pup as his chest hit the ground. He let out a playful bark, teasingly jumping a little forward then crawling back. He jumped up once more and hitting the ground once more.
He shot forward playfully aiming for her, he laughed the enjoyment of acting like a pup tickling him. The snow danced around him, landing lightly onto his brown pelt. For a moment he was starting to forget his horrible past, he had bruises, but didn't everyone?
