Appearance: As a Rha, Starmyst stands at about 3'7". She has white feathers and fur with a touch of light blue and turquoise. Her forelegs are adorned with long feathers that help her fly. Her tail, long and reptilian, ends with a fan of feathers that can help her during flight. An additional thick mane of feathers rides down the back of her neck.
Upon close examination, one might observe shades of gray in the tips of her feathers, a tribute to Starmyst's previous life, in which she was a gray eagle. Her eyes—as they have always been in all of her lives—are soft pink in the center, with subtle swirls of violet, blue, and green surrounding it.
Magic: Water and Light
Spells:
Cloak: As long as there is enough water in the air or nearby, Starmyst can condense it into a shrouding fog to hide herself and others in or to disorient/confuse her enemies.
Walking on Water: She can briefly solidify a small portion of any body of water and walk across it. It doesn't last long and she can only affect a small part of the water at a time.
Vanishing Vapor: While underwater, Starmyst can distort others' vision to make it appear as if she is invisible. The spell is broken as soon as she is out of water, or if someone bumps into her.
Arrows of Light: A tribute to her past life as a centaur, Starmyst can fire beams of light at an enemy in the shape of arrows. Her aim is very good. If hit by one of these arrows, a victim will be blinded between twenty and sixty seconds. Starmyst can fire many arrows of light at a time if she has to.
Skills: She is very swift in the air and in water, but slower on land.
Personality: Starmyst is very protective of her friends and loved ones—she can often be overprotective. But she loves them all so much and always wants what's best for them. She can handle herself: she's pretty savvy on her own, good at making decisions and with self-defense. She is somewhat open to trusting people, but always approaches strangers with caution first. She is quick to anger and retaliate, and she is not afraid to defy authority.
History: Long, long ago, Starmyst was a Youroi wolf who lived a normal, happy life with her mate Thunderbolt and her pups Aiglos and Silme in the faraway Jaden Dreams Pack. However, she stood up for a pup who was about to be killed by the Alphas of Jaden Dreams, and as punishment they banished her. Horribly embittered, she traveled alone, filled with thoughts of betrayal and revenge. Her family fell apart without her, and Thunderbolt blamed her for every misfortune that had befallen him.
Eventually, Starmyst settled at Shinkou, where she was reunited with the pup whose life she saved. She adopted him and befriended Raven, Yueh’s sister. All was once again well, until the hateful Thunderbolt found her and attacked her. She managed to fend him off temporarily, but knew he would be back.
Later, Goth, who had been a friend of her pups back at Jaden Dreams, also arrived at SO. She joyfully reunited with him and introduced him to Raven. She watched the two slowly become friends and then lovers. Unfortunately, that happiness was interrupted when Thunderbolt attacked again. This time, Starmyst put up a wall of mist and fought her mate herself. But a strange power, in the form of a bright light, killed Thunderbolt and transported Starmyst miles away.
For several days, she lay unconscious, hovering close to death, and might even have passed that threshold. Finally, she awoke, only not as a wolf. She had been peculiarly transformed into an eagle, which prolonged her life. She flew back to her wolf pack and her beloved friends, Raven and Goth. There she spent the rest of her life, undisturbed and content.
Unfortunately, eagles do not live as long as wolves, and so she died of old age some years later. She was mourned, but unbeknownst to her friends and loved ones, she was once again reborn.
This time, she was born to a tribe of healthy, proud centaurs in a forest outside of human civilization. This life was entirely different from what her first two had been. At first, she did not realize that she had been a wolf and an eagle previously, but as she grew older, dreams of events from her past lives kept recurring. Eventually she figured out that these dreams were like a log of her prior life, and she had been reincarnated as the form she was now.
When she realized this, she became a little less centaurly than she might have been. Though she cherished the stars like all her kind did, she also yearned to fly, for both her wolf and eagle forms had that ability. Though she prized her archery skills, she missed her natural claws and talons.
That life too ended in a tragic accident, but to Starmyst's great surprise, she was reborn yet again—this time as a demonic Rha wolf, a kind of combination of her first two forms (wolf and eagle). Though she was raised in a vicious, violent family, she gained her previous memories quicker this time. Starmyst was able to hold her own in her family (where the weak were killed), but as soon as she was able, she left. Now—around 7.5 years old (the equivalent of 2.5 for most wolves and 17 or 18 for humans)—she is a loner, wandering all across the world, hoping to eventually end up back at Shinkou and be reunited with her old friends once more.
She does not understand why she keeps being reborn in different forms, but assumes that Rhan, Etanian Goddess of Fate and Destiny, has something in mind for her. For there is something celestial and angelic about her that recalls a mission from a higher plane…
