The summer twilight hung heavy over the forest. Insects and frogs made their evening sounds, the random rustle of leaves in the winds, the slight foot fall of a creature walking about in the night. A clearing, where tinkling of water over rocks from a wooded stream, bubbled and popped as it continued unabated on its seemingly endless journey. A hazy object approached the stream, coming into view as a simple faun. It bent its head low to drink from the stream.
Soon, it lifted its head and turned to trot back into the woods. A flash of silver, however, ended the creature's life in an instant. An arrow, black as night, quivered from the space between the creature's eyes. As suddenly as the arrow had appeared, so did the form of a large creature, reared back on animal-like legs and carrying a powerful looking bow. Fur covered its hide and two gleaming green eyes pierced the night as it looked over its kill. A smile spread over the creature's lips, wicked and malevolent. It reached into a pocket on a belt it no doubt stole from a victim of it's, and took out a long, jagged knife. It, however, carefully cut away the fur and the fat, removing it and laying it out in fairly large pieces.
The creature quickly went to work carving the meat, producing several bags from other pockets. A snap from a twig cracking sounded behind it, but it never flinched, and went along with its work. Three other creatures, much like the first, walked out into the opening. They each carried different things, one with a bag of what sounded like rocks over its shoulders, one with a large bundle of sticks and logs, and the third with camping materials. The group went about setting up camp, quietly and quickly. Soon, the camp was set and the meat was roasting over an open flame. The foursome sat around the fire, looking into the flames, lost in the dancing element. Now that there was something powerful enough to reveal them, it was plain to see that they were a group of were-wolves. True ones, not their in-bread cousins. Creatures who's form had long ago solidified into their current state.
A little distance off, a shadow stood against a tree, watching and silently keeping vigil over the group. A black dot grew before the shadow. But, again, as suddenly as it had come, it vanished, as well as the shadow. Near the edge of the fire's light, the same dot opened instantly after it had vanished from the spot in the woods, and out emerged the figure of a man. A black flowing cloak surrounded him, and a hood covered his face, casting the lower portion of his jaw into a deep gloom. One of the wolves stood and bared its fangs, but another held up its hand. Taking the note from the other, the first sat back down, looking fiercely at the sudden arrival.

"Welcome, Dark Walker. You put us in great honor with your presence." One of the were-wolves, the leader, said, sniffing the air. "Come and sit with us."
The man nodded his head and walked to the ring of logs that made up the seats. He picked one that was further back from the fire, leaving room for the were-wolves.
"I do not come to speak to you with passing, Malanor. Something stalks these woods and it would be wise of you to gather you're pack. The shadows speak of a long forgotten evil is awakening, and signs tell of its servants moving about now. Keep your guard and remain in watch." The man said, before standing and turning from the fire.
The wolf leader nodded his head as the man vanished into another portal, as it was now apparent. Rearing his head back, the leader howled into the night, the three others joining him in summoning their brothers and sisters. Darkness had fallen on these lands once, and a great scar was left. Something that the Dark Knights were investigating was never a good sign.
