OOC: Lazy post for a lazy character WOO.. private rp Lazy, lazy, lazy. It was getting warm early. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and hell, the crickets were chirping. Everything was hunky dory. Not a demon in sight.
Kusu lay sprawled with his face in the grass. He was a lazy bugger and was not ashamed of it.

It was on this lazy sunny afternoon that she finally made it back.
After years and years of separation, Starmyst was astounded by how familiar it all was. Some things were different…in the distance, Kohai Forest seemed bigger, for instance. And there was so much she had forgotten. She was sure the wolves themselves had changed…but she hoped that there would be some she would recognize, even if they did not recognize her at first.
It was the third time she had been reborn, her spirit and memories rehashed throughout four different forms over time. Starmyst had not been here in Shinkou since her second form, the grey eagle. An entire lifetime as a centaur apart, in her own world. But when she was born now as a Rha—a birdlike wolf, with white feathers shaded with turquoise, gray, and blue—she had been unhappy with her family. They were vicious, violent beasts, and once Starmyst regained her memories of her previous lives, she felt there was no reason to stay with them. Rather, it was time to go to her real home…the world of Shinkou.
Her heart thudded as she strolled through the Doresu Fields, her long tail trailing through the tall grass, the wind brushing against her beak-like snout. She was a sight, she knew. Rhas drew the eye for their outlandish appearances. But there were not too many wolves here. For a moment, Starmyst’s heart constricted, fearing that they were all gone, or that Shinkou had changed so much that Wyndbain was not in charge anymore…maybe she was coming home to a demon-ridden land.
But that fear dissipated as quickly as it came, for she beheld a wolf not too far away, lying amongst the reeds, and his face stirred recognition in Starmyst’s old memory. Was that not one of the sons of Yueh and Wyndbain? She tried to remember his name, but it had been so long. Yet she was certain it was he…and his presence relaxed her. If he was here, not too much could have changed.
She wondered how to approach him, for he would surely know the state of things. Whether Yueh and Wyndbain were still alive and here, whether her dear friends Raven and Goth were as well. But first she would have to explain who she was and hope that he did not think her crazy. “Ahoy,” she called. “You look quite comfortable. Mind if I join you?”

The sudden voice made Kusu jerk his head up sharply. At first he looked forward, ears alert and hackles on end. Then he turned his head to the left. His whole face was covered in patches of dirt. He noticed this, and hastily brushed the dirt off.
What he saw then could have made his knees buckle if he were only standing. So instead he felt his legs wobble, making his body quaver slightly. What a babe!
"Err..."
He fought to find his voice. After clearing his throat several times, he turned and put on what he hoped was a charming smile.
"Well my goodness, I feel like one lucky son-of-a-tail to be graced by the presence of such a beautiful creature. Please do." He paused, remembering her first statement. "It most certainly is comfortable. Shinkou is the only place in the whole entire world where you can feel great comfort in napping out in the open, and not worry about an ambush, unless you're patient enough to put up with younger family members who thinks it's all fun and games to use your body as a jungle-gym..." He gave a little chuckle. "So, how are you doing this fine, lovely day?"

The simple question brought out a very eager response from Kusu, which caught Starmyst off guard. She had to smile, trying not to laugh, as he charmingly invited her to join him, without even asking what sort of creatures he was in spite of her bizarre appearance. He even started talking like they were old friends…little did he know that they were once acquainted, although they were never especially close. Starmyst moved over to lie down on her stomach, her feathers gathering around in her in a natural way that made her resemble a peacock.
She was very curious to ask more about his family, hoping he would especially mention his aunt Raven. “I am quite well. I have traveled a long way to get here and now I feel already as though I have truly come home.” She tilted her head toward him with a smile. “Tell me more about these family members of yours. Do you have a lot of them?” It would be overwhelming, she thought, to try to explain who she really was. She would rather have him be comfortable around her first before attempting to tell him the long, complicated story of her identity.

"Well shoot, you're always welcome here." He put on the biggest smile he could muster. Kusu was not one to question much. Either he was too dim-witted or just accepted everyone for who they were, regardless of their past or where they come from. Certainly this new creature looked odd, but she was a wolf, and it made Kusu very curious indeed about her. How many more strange beasts were out there in the world? This one was the most exotic wolf he ever laid eyes on. Crossing his front paws, he made himself seem like a good listener, but in truth he was only half-listening and at the same time admiring every glimmer and every curve of limb and feather she possessed. He couldn't help that he was male, and, in fact, very attracted to her at this very moment...
At the mention of his family, he tilted his head in thought.
"Do I... geez, if I had to go through my whole family tree, you might grow old by the time I finish. From what I remember on my dad's side--" (his ears fell at this statement; the fact that he lost his father still stung him deep) "--I have... oh dear... six... seven... eight... aunts and uncles. Probably more. Mom's side has a sister... yep, just those two. I think. Yueh and Wyndbain are my parents, but Yueh--my father--passed away a few years ago." By the look of the sudden creases in his face, he was in mood to discuss why Yueh passed away. "So Mom's here still, she's the alpha... and then there's my aunt and uncle, Raven and Keroberos... then you have the kids... cousins, siblings, etcetera..." He fell quiet, trying to remember all of his family members. "There's more, but I can't really recall them at the moment. Our family's way too large for our own good." He grimaced comically.

Of course, her question triggered a lot of rambling, and if Starmyst had truly been a stranger, she might have drifted off with all the names he was dropping. But they were all familiar to her. Yueh and Wyndbain…by Etanus, Yueh was dead? A look of remorse crossed her features. She really had been gone a long time. Although she had never been as close to him as she had been to Raven, she knew that he was a gentle, caring soul, a wonderful leader, and surely did not deserve death. Starmyst looked away briefly, giving a moment of silence and prayer for his soul.
The good news was, though, that Raven was still alive. Kusu didn’t mention Goth, but Starmyst could bet that he was still alive too. In spite of the sad news about Yueh, Starmyst did feel relief. Her closest friends were still here. She could see them again. Now she wondered if she should tell Kusu the truth, or if he would just think her crazy. Starmyst flicked her tail thoughtfully around. “It is large,” she agreed, she remembered that about the alphas. “I am deeply sorry to hear about your father.” She looked down and then back up at him.
“I do have a small confession, though…I used to live here. A long, long time ago. I am older than I look,” she admitted. Maybe he would accept that instead of her having to explain about all the bizarre reincarnations. “I was even a good friend of your aunt Raven’s. I came back now…hoping to see her.”

Kusu shrugged, not trying to look too sensitive over the subject of his father. "Thanks..."
He took a deep breath and his smile that faded briefly had now returned. Ahh, the good ol' familiar scent of the coming spring. He couldn't wait for it to actually be here. He listened to her response, a brow quirking. Well, that's odd. He looked her up and down. "You look too damn young and beautiful to be that old," he pointed out, not believing a word she said. "I guess I could humor you, though." He winked. "It's your lucky day. 'Cause Aunt Raven's patrolling today, and she usually comes 'round here when the sun's highest in the sky."
