Caelestis and Amadeus
The brothers stood side by side upon one of the rolling hills of the highland territory. The den they shared was nestled at their back. The warm summer weather had spread a sea of green over the earth and the thick-haired cattle grazed happily some distance away. Amadeus eyed them speculatively and considered arranging a hunt. Caelestis, however, had no mind for such things.
The alabaster male gave a languid stretch and shook the dust and sleep from his fur. The early morning was lovely and the warm colours blazed across the sky in a brilliant sunrise display. "It's going to be a beautiful day," he predicted happily before looking up at his brother. "Of course, the beauty of any day cannot hold a candle to all that I am, but at least I suspect it will make a fair attempt!"
The blond elder brother gave a hopeless shake of his head while Caelestis grinned cheekily. If there was nothing else he could do, Cael knew he could always irritate his brother. The white, feminine wolf rubbed up against his brother's thick coat, nuzzling his neck fondly. The affection was grudgingly returned as blond Amadeus seated himself on his haunches.
"What is the plan for the day, Ammy?" Caelestis asked eagerly. For years they had awoken the same way. While the slender wolf was animated and enthusiastic, he was no leader. He had followed his older sibling since birth and saw no reason to change that now. Of course, it was entirely likely that he would voice complaint. That was expected of him.
"I was thinking a hunt might be in order this morning." The general's reply was soft and quiet, as were nearly all his words. His brother's theatrical sigh wasn't lost upon him and he gave another shake of his head. Stoic as always, however, his expression gave nothing away.
"'Hunting, Ammy? That's so boring!" Of course it wasn't really boring, but Caelestis was about as inept at the activity as he was at flying. There had been a time when he had convinced himself he'd make a beautiful bird. He had spent many days trying to get up the speed he thought was required to gain lift. Needless to say all attempts were futile.
"The rest of the pack should be waking soon." Most of the pack denned up in this area and he was sure they would make an appearance soon. "If they are up to it, we will hunt." That was that. No amount of pouting would change his brother's mind. Cael's only hope now was to get to the others first and entice them into some other activity.
