OOC: SHORTEST POST IN HISTORY GOOOOOOOOO
It was one of those lazy days where nothing was happening. No scuffles, no fights, no nothing. Lacrimosa was on her back on a patch of grass with no one else around, bored out of her mind.

"Boo!"
Mascamora peeked down at her sister, standing with her neck bent so that her nose would be just above that of Lacrimosa's. It had always been in Mascamora's nature to mess with others, although it was not quite in the same way as when she had been much younger. In truth, she had come in hopes of finding her sister and spending time with her. Though knowing Lacri, perhaps she should have thought before acting...

Lacri did jump a little, only because she wasn't expecting it. Heaving a deep sigh, she rolled over so she was lying on her belly. "What is it, sis?" said the Empress warily, the left side of her lip twitching. A stray fly buzzed around her ear then, and she whipped around with a snap of her fangs, and ate the little bugger.

Mascamora watched her sister's movements and sat back on her haunches. She smiled faintly. "Oh, nothing. Just felt like giving my dear sister some company." She gave a brief glance to the fly that dared annoy the Giaku Empress and was devoured as consequence. A sigh escaped her. "How are you, Lacri?"

Lacrimosa relaxed her tense frame. She snorted derisively, tail whipping through the tall grass. "Sister or not, you have committed a great offense to the Empress." Eyes hardened as she peered at her sister without breaking away. Then suddenly, her frown cracked into a smile. "I'm kidding." She turned away, her expression changing again into something clouded and distant. "Beg your pardon. When there is nothing to distract me, one has time to think. A lot. And my mood isn't exactly set for fun right now." Stretching out her forelimbs, she lowered her slender neck to her paws and sighed through her nose. No doubt some very heavy things weighed on her mind. "I am not well. But I will be."

Mascamora's face remained the same when Lacrimosa grew stern, and then only shook her head at the kidding comment. She knew her sister quite well, and due to years of being teased, she had grown rather hardened to it. "I know, sister," she murmured as Lacri spoke of her thoughts. Masca was aware of the things which troubled her sister... perhaps not to the degree since she wasn't in Lacrimosa's paws, but somewhat. She wished she could offer her more comfort.
She sighed and stepped forward, attempting to offer her sister a nuzzle and a wolfish hug of sorts. It was the best she could offer. "I have no doubts, Lacri, that everything will turn out okay. With time, you'll see." She smiled, hoping to reassure her sister a bit.

Pale eyes rolled upward, the better to see her sister. "Oh, thank you. You know you're one of the few I confide my thoughts to, aside from Mother, Uncle, and co zula. My only regret is letting go of my innocence, but it was bound to happen. Have I grown cold, Masca? Be honest."

Mascamora listened quietly to Lacrimosa's words. She thought in earnest of Lacrimosa's words, and at last shook her head. "Lacri, I think as Empress, it is necessary to be hard of heart in certain situations, or toward certaint things. But I believe there's still a warmth in your heart deep down." She paused. "If you were so cold, sister, you wouldn't feel as you do or ponder the things which plague your mind. Even if only Mother, Uncle, Ammon, and I get to see your feelings, I think that's enough. So long as we are here to share them and support you, you'll be okay."

"I suppose you're right." Silence fell as she examined a blade of grass. "Corruption... has made it's way through to my soul. It's tearing me apart and..." She licked the tapering point of her muzzle. "No longer am I the wolf that I used to be."

What Lacri said next broke Mascamora's heart in a way. It was amazing how thinking that her sister could be so different was devastating, or how the heart holds on to what it knows in the past. But if Lacrimosa was so different... was it truely bad? Or just different? Masca didn't know. And she wasn't quite sure how to respond. "No matter what, Lacri, you're still my sister." She meant she would always love her as such.

A broad smile lit up on the Empress's face. "E zula oui, Mascamora." She reached over and tenderly nuzzled the side of her sister's face. "With you and so few others, I still have light in my life."
When all things became still, and the sun reached it's descent in the distance sky, Lacrimosa's ears picked up. "Shh--quiet, sister--do you hear that?"
A rumble in the distance sounded very much like the call of thunder, but Lacri knew better. It was no ordinary sound.
"It's the Great Herd! They've come! We have no time to lose, the others will know by it's sound that this is a rare opportunity for great meat. Come, sister, hunt with me!" Oh, what a rare opportunity indeed, when the Great King Jruliorn, a mighty quad-horned monster lead his brutes through Giaku territory, perhaps for it's water. King Jruliorn was well known to be impossible to kill, for he was mighty and powerful and protected his herd for centuries.

Mascamora felt warmed at the words her sister uttered in Druin and moreso when she affectionately nuzzled her. Such moments between them happened less and less as they got older and she found she enjoyed them more when they did happen as consequence.
Mascamora's own ears perked, listening intently as her sister had directed. A grin lit up her own face and her tail wagged with her sister's words. She had a good point. This opportunity probably would come only once for these two. She stood and nodded, beginning to bound off in the sound's direction. They must make haste, and arrive quickly! And then put all their skills to use. "With pleasure!" she responded to the invitation.

The Great King Jruliorn was indeed mighty. He was a deer of legend, and massive to boot. Even Yueh once came across this giant, but was unable to bring Jruliorn down. Jruliorn was wise, and very smart. He had scores of children and grandchildren, all of whom were equally great, but not as great as their Father.
And there they were, racing across the fields, enormous hooves pounding the earth relentlessly. Jruliorn was among them taking the lead, his many great, twisting antlers pointing in a salute to Heaven. His legs were large and muscled, and he had six forelegs, and four hindlegs like the legendary horse Sleipnir of Norse mythology. He had a coat of red with gold archaic markings seen about his spine and face.
"It is an honor and a privilege to see the Great King," she whispered in awe to her sister as she crept through the grass, many yards away from the moving herd. She had seen them starting to slow until they halted, the Great King prancing ahead of them until he stopped on a large hill. "It's my first time, and I was always told to keep a sharp ear to hooves that sounded like thunder. Apparently our grandfather had seen him once. The Great King can never be captured or killed, and it would be unwise to try. Let us try the weaker in the group, but keep a wary eye on Jruliorn, if he sees you, you better start running."

OoC: Omg this reminds me of Princess Mononoke! XD
iC:
Mascamora moved easily through the grass, close to her sister. She nodded in agreement, her eyes taking in the sight before them. It was Mascamora's first time to see the great king as well, and she was familiar with what Lacrimosa was saying. How priviledged they were indeed. She nodded once again at her sister's instruction. Even if they couldn't capture or kill him, it would be fun to chase him and probably an adventure. But perhaps too much of a foolish one. Even so, the hunt would also be fun for the weaker ones - his children. Even if they weren't as strong as their great father, they were certainly more than the average deer.
She began to creep forward once more toward the herd, eyeing the great king while also looking at the weaker ones. Soon, it was easy to spot one a little farther from the others, grasping at some of the grass. She licked her lips and glanced at Lacri, wondering if her sister had seen the same. She waited for her sister's que, being the leader, before she would make any moves.
