OoC: For now, this is between myself and Demin :3 How long had it been, since last he had seen these lands? These lands he once called home. These lands called Giaku. Long enough for that pup to become Empress. Long enough for her to find an Emperor. He knew well the reason he had stayed away from this place for so long. But now he returned, perhaps to check in, perahps for other reasons. He wondered if he'd be welcome or banished. Oh how he hoped Charon would not treat him as their father had Endymion.
It was a typical day in Giaku, the weather hot with few if any clouds in sight. He was hardly bothered by it, being as he had grown up in such. Dark blue eyes scanned the terrain, noting similarities and differences. His long, horse-main like hair billowed about his white scale-covered body and though it was no longer really his status, he carried himself proudly even as a once-Prince. He constantly swayed his long twin-tails to keep them off the ground. Well, no point in standing around waiting for nothing.
He stepped into the lands, accepting full responsibility for whatever consequence may or may not follow. Somehow, he had a feeling of contentment wash over him. It felt good to be back. And further more, he was delighted to sniff the air and not have the smell of Moria in his nostrils. Perhaps it was just the wind, but he hoped it was because she was out of the lands - even if only for a time. But he could learn of that later.
Accompanying the feeling of contentment was a feeling of having been forgotten... as one sometimes does when they are away and things change without them. Yet all these feelings remained hidden within Erebus - his face remaining the same regardless. He wondered what his good ol' brother Charon was up to.

It had been a slow, relaxed day in Imperial Towers. It had been many months since Charon had been allowed even a moment's rest. It had taken most of those many months to rebuild from Shinkou's Invasion, and now that it was all over, for now, it was time to sit back and enjoy the fruits of his labor. The black furred beast had been lounging in his chambers high up in Hatsuhi, the spikes that usually adorned his back and tail oddly absent. Occasionally he would raise his still stone-crowned head to gaze out of a hole in the wall that served as the room's window. The only souls out seemed to be the guards, stationary and unmoving at their posts. It felt like all the Empire had decided to take a day off.
The two guards outside Charon's chambers snapped to attention as the captain of the guard arrived, standing at the chamber's threshold. He returned his subordinates' salutes and looked to Charon, who gave a slight wave of his hand to say that permission had been given to enter. "Dominus," he began, slightly bowing his head as he spoke. "A scout has returned from the borders and brings news: a Druin matching Erebus' description has been spotted within our borders."
Charon quickly faced the captain, his long ears perking up, those seemingly blind, milky white eyes widened slightly with one brow cocked in curiosity. He had not expected the captain of the guard's news to concern his family, and was unsure of how he should have taken the news. Should he be happy, enraged, or should he even care? Erebus had never been one of Charon's closer siblings. Charon did not have the competitive rivalry with Erebus that he used to have with the now long-dead Kratos, nor had Erebus been present during the Shinkou Invasion to defend his home as Zephyrus had been. Erebus had not been on his mind in years. Still, he was curious to know where Erebus had been for so long. He relaxed and resumed his lounging.
"Bring him here, unharmed. We have much to discuss," commanded Charon, keeping a casual tone as if talking about the weather. The captain of the guard gave another bow of the head and backed out of the room. Charon absentmindedly gazed out the window again a few minutes later to see several large Druin guards trotting toward the borders of the Empire. ((I don't feel like RPing them finding him. I felt that my post had started to get long-winded :X ))

OoC: It's all good XD But holy crap now I feel bad cause I didn't make Erebus come defend Giaku from Shinkou <.<; maybe he never heard about it DX;;; As he strolled along, his ears snapped forward when he saw some others approaching him, and with purpose. Bah, it didn't bother him. He stopped, listening as the leader of the group demanded he accompany them to see Charon. Well, he supposed he shouldn't be surprised. Though he felt somewhat similar feelings to those Charon had. Wondering exactly what his brother's reaction would be. He supposed he'd learn soon enough.
So they traipsed along through the Giaku lands toward the towers, observing everything along the way. Several heads turned, looking his way, though he paid them little mind. Whatever they thought was no concern of his.
In any case, he was soon approaching Charon's chamber and the others accompanying him stepped back, allowing him to move forward. He entered the tower with ease and stood before Charon. "Greetings to you, brother," he said calmly, even dipping his head slightly. In Erebus' mind, they were equals, but he had to admit Charon had done well from what he could see and had heard and deserved some respect at least.
"It has been a while. I suppose some sort of praise is in order from myself to you..." It was his way of mentioning a congratulations. Charon could take it or leave it, he wouldn't mind. After this, he waited for Charon to speak. He had different things flit through his mind which he could use for conversation. But for now, it was his turn to wait.

Conflicted emotions still ran rampant through his mind, still unsure of what he should feel toward his returning sibling. He sat there in contemplation, not realizing Erebus had arrived until he had spoken. Charon jerked from his thoughts and returned the slight bow Erebus gave him with a curt nod. "Erebus," he rumbled, acknowledging his brother's greeting. He felt the impulse to say how good it was to see him again, but it would not have been true. His return wasn't some long, eagerly awaited day, but was something of mild curiosity on Charon's part.
The Dominus waved off the praise which followed the greeting. He had no need for it, nor did he want it. "I didn't have much of a choice," he cut off, looking to the guards still around Erebus, and jerked his head toward the door to dismiss them. They bowed before turning out of the room and returning to their posts. "I was the only child of Tartarus remaining to clean up his mess of an Empire," he said, spite and bitterness becoming apparent as he spoke. "Zephyrus was exiled in Shinkou, Nyx is nowhere to be found, Kratos and Phobos have been dead for years, and you.... Well, I'd like to know just where it is you've been."
((So bad it physically hurts x.x ))

Long ears caught the words from his brother plainly, and he was not surprised - at least as much as one might think. It was true Kratos had been the one who craved the position of Emperor, and the rest of them had been content to do their own thing. Yet look how things had turned out instead. Furthermore, he now found himself in question. Yes, indeed, where had he gone off to? And more importantly... why? Perhaps Charon wondered he hadn't stuck around to at least help out. Well either way, it was in the past now and nothing could be done about it. Needless to say, he was also quite clueless as to recent events here in Giaku.
"Out and around, I suppose," he replied, pausing. "Honestly, I've been wandering, learning, etc." Though that didn't explain the why. He hesitated, debating whether he should be completely honest with Charon or not. The Dominus probably wouldn't care... but still. "I left out of desire to avoid the wretched mother of the Empress. I do hope her pups are nothing like her. Believe you me, brother. She is certainly one I would rather not mess with." He moved forward then, sitting down and glancing out of one of the tower windows. He didn't speak of the past he had experienced whence Endymion was yet alive, it was entirely unnecessary.
"Aside from all that, forgive me, Charon, that I was not around. I suppose I am a bit curious as to what I've missed."

Charon hanged onto to every word his brother spoke, ears facing forward, listening intently. He hadn't been given the answers he had been expecting, but there was no helping it. The Royal Family was still dreadfully small, even more so after the war with Shinkou and Akeru, and the Patriarch of Tartarus' line wasn't going to turn away his brother for dodging questions. Charon would find out all he wanted to know in due time.
The subject quickly changed to Empress Lacrimosa's parentage and Charon could not help but allow himself a small, amused chuckle. His brother's query of Giaku's recent history killed his amusement. The War was still fresh in Charon's mind, and he'd rather not dwell long on it.
"You've missed much, brother. Shinkou and Akeru invaded. Wyndbain herself wounded the Empress, and Emperor Ammon was nearly slain by some monstrosity under her control." He rushed through the short summary of the War, quickly moving onto answering other questions.
"As for our Empress and her sister, Lacrimosa is kindhearted and generous, perhaps to the point of folly," He cut himself off, wondering if he should finish his thought. "I sometimes fear that Lacri will crumble under the pressure, but I see the wisdom in her decisions of late... save for letting Amnesia tutor the Prince and Princess." The name he practically spat, hostility creeping back into his voice. "Mascamora, however, I know nothing of. She does not interest me," he added quickly, almost an afterthought.

Erebus quirked a brow, turning his head and facing Charon with it entirely, listening to all that his brother said concerning the invasion and such. He was somewhat unsurprised, and yet somewhat surprised as well. How ironic... that Shinkou had always claimed to be the "good" ones, the clean ones. Masquerading as "do-gooders" who had cleansed "their" lands. Bah. While in reality, they had been the ones at fault. They had kicked the Druins out of their peace, they had invaded. Who was it who was truly at fault? But he pushed the thoughts aside as the subject changed to the Empress. The invasion was over... and everything settled.. he assumed. So then, there was no going back for him.
He nodded briefly at Charon's words. Time would tell for Lacrimosa, wouldn't it? Concerning Mascamora... ah yes, the whelp who took after her wretched father, or so he had heard. No wonder Charon had no interest or care for her matter. She was a bad omen... or some believed. There was no need for him to elaborate on these thoughts, however. He guessed Charon either already thought them, or wouldn't care to know. "It is good that the Empress rules a different reign than our father, perhaps. Though provoking less," he paused, "events... perhaps she is just what the Empire, and these lands, need." They had certainly seen much bloodshed in their lifetime.
He then addressed the matter of Lacrimosa's children. He had heard of that... and there were only a few things. "Amnesia... you say..." he repeated to himself. "I dare say I am a little surprised she was not banished from this place a long time ago. It is not, however, my judgement call." Perhaps Lacrimosa would keep a close watch and influence on her pups despite outside things. But he thought this only to himself. He as of now had no real place here other than a once-Prince. Who knew if that was going to change.
"Is there anything more you would ask me, dear brother?" he asked after a time, his blue eyes the mirror of their father's gazing upon Charon's spiky form.
