Song and Quen huddled together to conserve warmth. The scrawny pine they had been sleeping under before the snowstorm, which had come very much unannounced, did not give much cover. "Q," Song asked, "how much longer do you think it'll be?" "I can't tell." "Lets think about something else then. Like... where will we go from here?"

He had moved with a silent step, the Hare never knew of his existence, not until it was too late. The massive male snapped the fat rabbits neck, then quickly whirled around, using his right paw to crush the spine of the second hare that had bolted from the small cavern in the snow. Fen had scented the two younglings, he would bring them food.
Approaching their makeshift den he tossed the rabbits, landing them close to where the pups were huddled up. He would not yet show himself.

Song lunged forward, teeth bared in a silent snarl, hackles raised, ready to attack whoever the enemy might be. She sank her teeth into... a dead rabbit? "Wha... Quen, come see this!" It was a miracle. Just when they had given up on ever finding food, food had somehow come to them. They dug in, eating the hares from fur to bone, and then cracking the bones to eat the marrow. It was the best meal they'd ever had. Song sent a silent prayer of thanks to whatever deity or deities sent this wonder to them... and then she saw the massive paw tracks. Whoever had left them the meal was gigantic, probably even five feet tall. Song was jealous. Even at a year old, she was still only 3.5 or so feet tall. The scent was fresh, so she decided to follow it. "C'mon, Quen, let's go see who did this. And thank them."

Ooc: hey ragnar can i say midnight know you? if not ill modify
iC: Midnight scented the pups and the rabbits, or what was left of them. She drew in the air deeper, and scented Fen. It all came together quickly, and she was surprised that he had fed them. She sensed the pups starting to move; she thought, "Well this could be interesting," and started to follow all three of them parallel to watch. She made sure to get upwind of them, so they would sent her quickly. Once she was known, she would emerge in front of Fen and the pups.

I will modify if I need to, Midnight!
Fighting the wind became harder for Song and Quen. Then, Song scented something. Another wolf? She stopped abruptly, causing Quen to bump into her and bowl her over. "Sorry!" he yelled over the howling wind. "Its OK, my fault!" she yelled back. She shook off her snow-encrusted muzzle, and scented again. Definitely another wolf. It... no, she... was trekking to their left, and seemed to be very well hidden. "There's another wolf that way, lets go see if they're friendly!" Song yelled. "I think we should track them first," Quen said, but the wisdom of his words was lost on Song, who had already changed course and was leaping over the drifts at a fantastic speed. He had to sprint to keep up. After a few minutes of this, Song spotted a speck of greyish-black. Another wolf? She hoped that it was either that or a little gathering of trees, they needed help and/or shelter especially. She picked up her pace. Quen, breathing heavily with tongue lolling out of the side of his mouth, picked up his pace. They continued at this sprint until they could make out the wolf. Then, Song slowed to an easy lope, the kind she could keep up for hours. Quen always appreciated it, she knew. The other wolf flattened its ears and began to growl as they came closer. "We come peacefully! And we're barely out of puphood, please don't hurt us!" "You shouldn't have said that," Quen reprimanded her. "What? You know we are, fluffhead." By this time they had almost reached the new wolf. Song slowed and eventually stopped about 10 feet away, waiting for the new wolf to react. Please please please don't attack us, Song thought.

"Oh, it's you." Snorts. "And I know your younglings, I could scent that much." She scrutinized them. In fact, both of them were quite cute. They looked freezing, huddling close together against the cold. With nothing to fear from them, she moved closer, shelding them from the wind with her thick fur. Midnight saw them observing her wings, witch had been blown aside by the ferce wind. They were scared and cold. She made a split decision to help them, protect them. Motherly instinct. "Maybe we should find somewhere sheltered." She knew of a very large den that was far underground. "Here, follow me." Midnight waited for them to follow, so she could fall beside them to gaurd them from the wind. She stood there, turquise banana flapping in the wind, the single white hindpaw buried in the snow, while her turquise eyes looked at them with all the kindness of a mother.

(is fine Fen's back story is a well traveled story teller so it wouldn't be surprising if half the wolves knew him xp)
Fen felt himself being followed. While he couldn't really name the sense, he thought it might have to do with the air spirit. He moved along, following the scent. He kept himself distant, watching them. he used his illusion to cast a fog about himself.

"My name is Song, and this is Quen. We were traveling, but then got held up by the storm. Someone threw us two big rabbits. Could that have been you?" Song wondered why she had entrusted so much information to the older wolf. Maybe it was the way their new friend stood, or the aura of power (by that I mean a feeling, neither of my wolves can sense magic) around her that seemed almost tangible. Or maybe it was just the soft, kind, warm eyes that the old(er, will correct I'd neccesary) loner watched her with. She would never really know. "What's your name?" Quen asked as Song thought.

Midnight chuckled."No, that wasn't me. It was Fen. He is another loner I see from time to time. I'm sure he's around here somewhere watching us." She stepped closer, because Quen started to get a blue nose. "My name's Midnight," she said in a quiet but strong voice. She crouched down low, and pressed her fluffy fur against them. "Well now," she said,"do you want to look for Fen or get out of the wind? Either is fine, as long as you don't get cold." Waiting for them to reply, the storm let up some, allowing them to talk normaly. 'This is a good a time as any to look for him' Midnight thought to herself.

Song shook her head, wanting to get any snow out of her ears. "Hunh?" Quen repeated what Midnight had said for his distractable friend, and looking at his nose, Song said decisively, "We should find shelter. Do you know of someplace underground, by any chance? I know quite a bit about storms, and this one should last a couple more days. As if it hasn't gone on long enough already!" Quen almost smiled. Here they were, near stranded in a snowstorm in a strange place, and Song was joking about it all. It was so... normal. Them again, who was he to say anything about being normal? He mentally shrugged, and started shifting his feet in an attempt to stay warm. Noting this, Song leaned against him, and her heat helped, warmed, and comforted him. Well, Song thought, seems like we're right back where we started; that one question seems to follow us. Where do we go from here?

Fen heard them speaking. "Don't look for what already stands before you. It's a wasted effort."
He stepped from his fog, his large form was intimidating to most, the reason he had remained hidden. "Don't be alarmed, despite my looks I promise not to eat you."

As soon as the giant wolf stepped out of the as yet unseen mist, Song and Quen were on him, Quen lunging for his side as Song went for his throat. They had practiced this move many times. By the time the giant had said don't be alarmed, Quen had just barreled into his side, a furious whirl of claws, fangs, and raw, brute strength. Both hoped Midnight would not interfere, because they didn't want to inadvertently hurt her. Song hoped that Quen could push the giant down or at least distract the giant so that she could get it the fatal bite...

"Oh, hello Fen. I was wondering where yo-" Midnight stopped short when the two pups lunged for him, one to his side, the other to his throat. Midnight did not fail to note how the two attacked him, and that in most instances it would work very well. It caught her by surprise, but after a split second she let out a loud, guttural bark, hoping to stun the two so she could get them away from Fen. As she did, she realized that was what a mother would do to her cubs. If that didn't work, she would just use force and drag them away by their scruff.

The cubs' attack surprised him, but he didn't go easy on them simply because they were small. He rolled with the attack and sprang to his feet. Summoning a mass of fog he called forth the image of a massive white bear behind him, his dark green eyes glinted.
"You should show more respect for those who take the time to help you. On top of that you should never attack before confirming if your opponent is even your enemy. Picking a fight against someone larger than you is foolish, even with two of you. I've lived alone and fought against beasts the like of which dwell in your nightmares." The massive bear let out a mute roar, before returning to mist.

Ooc: thanks for the fighting style compliment *blushes* Ic:The bark nearly scared the fur off of Song. She stopped mid-snap and twisted to avoid biting the giant's throat. She hit his chest, thinking, He's going to have some nasty bruises. She backed off, and then called off Quen. They began to circle the humongous intruder, growling. "Who are you, where did you come from, and what is your business here? Answer before I count to ten. One... Two..."
