Large paws bounded over the rocky scree as the wolf galloped, fast as she could, towards the top of a nearby hill. She was here on a mission, a mission that would provide her with a place to call home. Kallik was her name. She was a rather large wolf, with a bulky, muscular build. Her eyes were a striking green color, emerald in the light. Her fur was mostly cream and russet, but she had light grey, as well as black patches in her fur. Kallik was rather beautiful. She stood at three foot four, rather tall for a wolf.
She stopped running at the top of the hill. Kallik threw back her head and let out a soft, low, yet melodious song. She spoke to the other wolves, letting them know she was there. Her howl held a warning - to leave her well alone. She wasn't very fond of wolves, thanks to her past. Males were the worst, though. But she knew, someone, somewhere, would hear her, and come to her. Someone always seemed to find her.
Satisfied that everyone had heard her, she turned and jumped onto a large boulder, sitting and starting to clean her fur of dust and other debris from the rocks.

Laying on the ground panting, she considered the day. A feeling had crept over her a little after sunrise, a feeling that she had to change something. When she couldnt shake it off, she ran from place to place, trying to discern were it came from. It seemed to come from nowhere. That aggrevated her. Midnight heard the beautiful howling, and paused. As it went on she swayed her head and closed her eyes to lister. When it ended, she knew. It was her. The wolf she had to help had arrived. With sudden clarity, Midnight realized that what she had to change was the past. Groaning, she pushed herself to her paws and continued running toward the sound. When she spotted the wolf grooming herself on a rock, she colasped on the ground, wheezing. "Midnight. I'm Midnight" she managed to pant out. She heaved a big sigh before resuming her panting. At last she staggered to her feet, and sighed again, quieter this time. If this wolf was open to her, she would try to help, but if not, she had a skill that would help her figure out how to help.

Kallik froze at the sound of clattering on the rocks. 'Of course,' she thought with a sigh, heaving herself off of the boulder. She bristled as the femme came closer. When she fell, Kallik's head tilted to the side, and her ears backed against her skull. Her fur bristling, Kallik took a few steps back and let out a low snarl.
"Do not care your name." Kallik rumbled, her voice low and raspy. Not talking in over a year had caused her voice to change. It also made her unable to speak correctly. She was not unintelligent, she simply did not like to speak, and she had not practiced in awhile. Some words she had forgotten.
"Leave me." Kallik growled, baring her teeth in the beginnings of a feral snarl.

Midnight inwardly sighed. So first, she wouldn't be open, so that would mean that she had to use her ability, as she liked to call it. Second, she was in no condition to defend herself if the other attacked. "Oh, well, would you mind telling me your name?" She was stung by the others hostility. She thought that they would be grateful for someone to help. Summoning inside herself, she carefully scrutinized the other, careful not to delve too deep without permission. A low, quiet moan escaped her when she realized what she had been through in her cubhood. She carefully realesed the power, although it wasn't magic. As she sat, waiting for the other to reply, she realized how tired she was.

Kallik growled softly, more to herself than at the other wolf. Her name. She had not spoken it aloud in her whole life. Her mother had only spoken it when she'd wanted to berate Kallik. She wasn't even sure she could say it correctly. "Name is...Kal....ick." she growled quietly, looking away. She'd managed to say it right, but she'd had to speak it slowly.
Kallik could feel the other wolf -she would not think of her name- looking at her, but she ignored the stare. She had no idea that the female had knowledge of her past. "What you want?" she spat angrily, stalking back up onto her rock. It was better to be on top, to be the dominant wolf.

"Sorry. Nothing." Midnight noted how the oth- Kallik she corrected- moved to the top of the rock, assuming domonance. That was o.k. Midnight crouched lower, crossing her paws. Kallik. It was a nice name, and actually fit her. Deciding to adress the problem off helping her past, she lay down her head, watching the world. It was a companionable silence, or so she thought. Waiting was good- it forced the other to talk, ask. She would answer whatever she asked. "You can ask me anything, as long as I get one in return. Hmmm. I call it the question game."

Kallik snorted, eyeing Midnight as she lay down and crossed her paws. She rolled her eyes, turning her back of the wolf. What was she even doing if she didn't want anything? Kallik shook her head. Why even care?
"Questions? I do not like...questions." Kallik told the she-wolf with a harrumph. Midnight was strange. Kallik shook her fur and focused, her emerald gaze upon the sky. With a soft wooshing noise, quite like the wind going through the trees, Kallik's form changed into a white snow leopard with black spots.

"Ok, I only thought it was fair that you get one since I asked you your name." The wind-like sound passed, and she admired the snow leapord in her place. Getting to her paws she stood a healthy distance away, waiting for her to move. Midnight wondered how she would react to a follower, hopefully not vichously. She closed her eyes again and swayed to the song of the birds. Ah, she knew Kallik thought she was weird, most wolves did. She was just a cub at heart, caught up in an adult world.

Kallik snorted, her now-amber eyes glinting in the sunlight. So, she wanted a question, did she? Kallik could give her one. Not caring if she sounded rude or hostile, she spat, "You are here. Why? Call made clear: no company." She growled and shook her head, striking at a passing butterfly. Her claws snagged its wings and she popped it into her mouth. It crunched satisfyingly between her teeth.
She didn't want the company of this wolf, but she didn't seem to care whether or not Kallik wanted it. She glanced towards Midnight, who was now swaying. Kallik's eye twitched, and she let out a low growl. "Freak." she grumbled.

"Hmmm. Well you might think it's weird but, you already think I'm weird so, eh. This feeling has been with me for...awhile, and I think I'm supposed to help someone. You. I can tell that your cubhood was not pleasurable, and you probably don't want to talk about it. But that's ok, 'mcause I'm patient." Midnight flinched slightly when the butterfly was eaten. It was pretty; deep violet with black spots. "Plus, I've been kinda lonely, and as you can tell, it makes me odd. I don't do very well alone." With that she unfolded her wings and stretched, then shook herself. "So were are you going now? Probably away from me, that's what most wolves do." Midnight allowed saddness to enter her voice. She hadn't spoken about her life alot, and it wasn't good either. She hoped she would have the chance to tell Kallik, although she wasn't sure if she would care to listen.

oOc| please be patient for responses; sometimes real life interferes, and nagging someone for a reply can be irksome. if you /must/ ask, PM your partner instead of posting in the roleplay itself. thanks.
