Amadeus
It was a beautiful night by anyone's standards. The sky was clear and every star had come out to shine. The moon was just shy of full and pale light bathed the frozen highland. The snow sparkled and twinkled as though mimicking the stars that laughed up above. The breeze was gentle and while the air was chilled, it was not uncomfortable. No, it was brisk and refreshing. It cleared the mind and soothed the senses. A beautiful night, perfect in every way.
So why couldn't Amadeus sleep? Caelestis had had no problem. He'd curled himself up in the den they shared and his snores had been quick to come. Even the snoring should not have been enough to keep Amadeus from sleep. He was used to the gentle sawing. The two had slept side by side for all the years of their life. No, it wasn't that. Amadeus had slipped from the mouth of the den and wandered out over the highland, leaving a delicate trail in the crisp snow.
The blonde beast seated himself on the crest of a hill overlooking this perfect night and heaved a sigh that whispered from his black kissers. He knew what was wrong. Although, "wrong" wasn't precisely the word for it. Nothing was wrong. His mind was just too occupied to let in blissful sleep. Without his brother to pester him, he was allowed the chance to let his thoughts run wild and his lips curled in a secret sort of smile as he watched them go.

The stars and moon's light glinted off of mountain foliage and rocks alike, but nothing compared to the glimmer of the moonlight on freshly fallen snow. The light, cold powder muffled most noise. The blanket of night lead to easy sneaking.
So sneak she did. Tristesse's eyes were bright and alert, ears cocked forward as she returned to the highlands. It seemed she couldn't help herself when it came to traveling. The dark fae had made trips monthly, simply wandering between territories. The "vacations" only lasted around two days, but they usually held quite a bit of story material.
And here she was, nearly two years old, plodding back into the Voyani territory in the stillness of the winter night. She was taking a bit of a different route, a kind of detour, on the way to the den she usually slept in when she was in the packlands. There were two bright characters in the Voyani whose presence she enjoyed above all others: The two brothers, Amadeus and Caelestis.
She knew where most of the packwolves slept, probably because she was awake far longer than most of the pack. She figured she'd check in on the boys while she was on the way to her own sleeping spot. When she drew close, she was greeted by the sight of a sitting Amadeus. Her left eyebrow arched and she slowed, cocking her head to the side. It was late, why was he up?
Her dark lips curled into a smile when she spoke, almost chuckling while she was whispering out to him. "Ammy?"

Amadeus
The blonde brute perked his ears up as he heard the quiet crunch as snow broke under the weight of some creature. His dark nostrils flared as he drew in a quick breath. The scent that came with it caused his heart to quicken. It jolted as though he had been sparked by static electricity. "Tristesse," he murmured as he turned his head to lay his soft amber eyes on the dark winged female. His lips turned up in a warm smile as he looked her over. She seemed no worse for the wear after her venture away from the territory.
It would be a lie to say he hadn't been thinking of her. It was almost like a dream, the way she stepped out of his thoughts and into the night to greet him in the sweet tones he had missed. Perhaps this was why he hadn't been able to sleep. The fates knew she was nearly home and wanted him there to welcome her back as he always did. In any case, he was glad to do so.
Amadeus climbed to his paws and made his lazy way over to the pretty, young fae. His cold nose would press against her shoulder as he drew in another breath, drinking in the scent of his fond friend. He sighed once more, letting that warm breath filter down into her thick fur to tickle over her skin. "Welcome home," he offered her in that soft voice of his and pulled away.

The dark fae smiled as her blonde friend lit up with recognition. Yes, she was very fond of him. Her tail wagged furiously as he approached her and touched her shoulder in that very.. Amadeus’y way. She nuzzled his own shoulder in return. It was a wonderful feeling to return from a trip to the beings that missed you. Her tinkle-bell giggle rang out in the night air, hushed as it was.
Tristesse had fleshed out since she first met the brothers. The female had grown into her long legs, and was now a lean and muscular femme. Her coat had grown in extremely thick around her neck and along her back, but the gray fur on her underbelly was still as silky as puppy fur. Now that she was close to being fully grown, the younger wolf was nearly the same height as her packmate.
“Thank you. Good to see you, Blondie.” She grinned playfully at the quiet wolf. The femme pawed his nose, tail in constant motion. Her heart warmed as the welcome sank in. For months now Amadeus had been her teacher, showing her how to hunt and survive- something she hadn’t properly learned on her own. In the amount of time she’d spent with her teacher, she had developed a sort of crush on him. Even now, her heart was beating faster than normal. It was a little more than a crush at this point.
The charcoal beast shifted her wings, getting comfortable. She was relaxed- open and comfortable around him. Those baby blue eyes of hers found those of her friend’s as she perked up.
“Tell me, Amadeus. Why are you out here so late? I thought for sure everyone would be asleep,” Caelestis’s snoring reached her ears and she grinned, “And I think I was partly right.”
