Name: Akeela
Gender: Female
Race: Wolf
Sub-Race: N/A
Breed: Gray Wolf
Pack: Loner
Rank: N/A
Appearance: Akeela has brown, speckled-white fur that covers her bulky muscles like a layer of silk. She has a lean build, one of a feminine nature. She is considered small in the eyes of many (about 2 1/2 feet). Yet, what she lacks in size, she makes up for in cunning and magic. The raw proof of her story are the deep scars that are embedded in her body. The most prominent scars she has are the four exposed, pink crevices on the left side of her throat; among many others. Her eyes are a deep emerald green that appear to glow on first glance, a trait that gives away her Poison elemental magic. But that's not the only physical trait that insinuates her element.
Akeela has large white claws, which are tainted with a glowing light green, that closely resemble knives attached to her paws. The inside of Akeela's claws are hollow to make room for the vibrant green poison that fills them. This poison can be unleashed at any time by the female. Akeela's fangs are the same way. They act as a snake's fangs do; hollow and filled with toxic venom that can be unleashed on command. There are small pockets inside her cheeks that release a powerful venom that can kill another wolf within hours (depending on the wolf's body build and intellect on the matter). There are some who have lived to tell the tale of the power of her poison, but not many. However slim of a chance, it is possible to escape the clutches of Akeela's poison. Akeela has learned to control this gland when she hunts and fights because, if she happens to eat something that she has killed with her poison, she will die as well. Even her own body isn't immune to the toxins; it seems to serve more as a self-defense mechanism than an actual method of hunting.
Personality: Akeela has always been a bit cold-hearted and emotionless. She will do anything to get what she wants; which includes manipulating and killing other wolves. Yet, she can be somewhat compassionate at times. She does have a heart, however cold and stony it may be. If you do happen to get on her good side, expect a loyal companion that will stay by your side until the end. She'll give anything for the wolves she cares about, even her own life, if necessary. Although she can have a sweet personality, she is mostly distant and calculating. She views others simply as pawns that can be easily manipulated or conspirators that need to be stricken down. She will morph her personality into something she views as appealing to the different wolves she is dealing with at the time, rarely showing her true self. It may seem impossible, but if you gain her trust, she will begin showing you who she truly is.
Akeela may seem indestructible on the outside, but she's more fragile than she looks. She has a very unstable mindset; one that could snap at any given moment. She's a danger to herself and everybody else around her; something she can't seem to fix. Yet, however much she despises her weakness, she can't sew together the old wounds of her past.
Magic: Poison
-Spells: Because the spirit merged with Akeela while she was still in her mother's womb, she developed physical traits that relate to the poison element. Her claws, if you look closer, are tainted green. This is because they are hollow and the poison that fills them is a vibrant, deadly malachite. Her fangs act as a snake's fangs do; they are filled with toxic venom that can be unleashed on command. There are small pockets on the inside of her cheeks that contain this poison, which are organs that Akeela has learned to control. If she bites another wolf, it does not necessarily mean that venom is automatically injected into their bloodstream. Same goes for scratches from her claws. If she uses her magic, her aim is to kill.
The death that happens when Akeela's venom is injected is gradual. It's a slow, agonizing death that is described as the feeling of having your veins on fire. It produces the symptoms of nausea, vomiting, virtigo (dizziness), fainting, and cold/clammy skin. But the amount of time it takes to die depends on what the wolf is doing. If it stays calm and inactive, then it lives longer. If not, the chances that the wolf will live are very low. The healers of the packs have knowledge of the certain plants that reverse the affects of snake-bites, so the same goes for Akeela's poison.
Skills: Akeela is skilled in the art of being silent and undetectable. While in battle, she uses her cunning to make "out-of-the-box" moves, generally attacks you wouldn't expect from a normal opponent. She learned this because of her size, which makes her an easy target. Akeela has become a nimble and fierce opponent in order to counter this unfortunate physical attribute.
Biography: Akeela was born to the Shinkou pack as a healthy, powerful female. She learned quickly and she learned often. She was extremely intelligent, regarded highly by the Shinkou community. Yet, there was always something a bit off about her. When she spoke, her voice wasn't filled with passion, nor was it filled with hatred. Her voice was a quiet monotone, a lull. She stood out among the other pups because of this notable trait. She knew she was different from the rest of them, she knew she didn't fit in with the beautiful order of pack life. Yet, she suppressed her growing fear; did she belong?
Akeela ignored the growing apprehension and the frayed conscience that came along with it. All she had ever wanted was to be normal, like everyone else. She even fooled herself into thinking that her differences were slight, that nothing was wrong with her. It seemed as though she fooled everybody else as well. Nobody suspected the female's swelling insanity, perhaps because they were so distracted by her. She charmed everyone she met by morphing her personality to become the wolf they wanted to see.
Akeela managed to keep the act up, until one dreary afternoon. She was hunting with her siblings in Doresu Fields. It was a regular day, a relaxing one at that. Nothing seemed to be wrong, until the strangest feeling crept upon Akeela. It was unsettling, nerve-racking. She decided to keep it to herself to avoid blemishing her image, but the closer they came to that ominous place at the end of the field, the more uneasy she appeared. That was when they smelled it, the overwhelming reek of large amounts of wolf blood. Recently spilled.
Before they had the chance to turn back, they saw something that they should never have seen. There were two young wolves, who had abandoned the life of the Giaku pack, both famished. Their ribs were clearly visible through their thick coats, the gleam in their eyes told of their insatiable hunger. The two former Giaku wolves were crouched over a Shinkou pack wolf; the same one that Akeela had come to know as a friend. The same one who stepped in when Akeela had nobody else in the world, the one who had disappeared only hours earlier. Their muzzles were buried inside the body of the wolf, eating out her entrails.
They took notice of Akeela and her siblings immediately and the first thought that ran through their heads was to protect their kill. They launched themselves at the hunting trio with everything they had, they mustered up every scrap of energy they could. Akeela fought them the second they unleashed themselves upon them, determined to drive the insane wolves away from herself and her siblings before something horrible happened. But it didn't seem to be enough; the three didn't even have their powers under control yet, they didn't understand the ways of their magic. It took Akeela until the moment one of the wolves bit down on her brother's neck with such terrifying force that she could hear the snap of his vertebrae to realize that this battle was one she simply couldn't win. The wolves, although starved, were much stronger than her and her sister were combined.
Akeela and her only other sibling fled from the scene the second an opportunity arose, eager to escape before they were next themselves. But the rage that Akeela took away from the tragedy never seemed to escape her. It mingled with the anxiety that had been building up inside of her since the day she was born, causing her mental state to become even more unstable. She wasn't the same after that; the wounds never seemed to heal.
But somehow, she found a way to keep her act reeling. She decided to divert her attention to something else; which happened to be the same thing that had caused her to lose her friend and her brother. She went to serve in the war against the Giaku pack, when Wyndbain defeated Tartarus.
Akeela fought valiantly. She had a rage inside of her that pushed her forward, urging her to avenge her friend and brother's deaths. She became a skilled fighter, one that struck down foes without mercy. Most of her scars were earned from that battle, including the four pink crevices on the left side of her neck. But it didn't soothe the anger, the burning hatred that consumed her soul from the inside out. Killing didn't bring her happiness, though she still wanted to destroy them all.
Akeela's sister began to notice that she wasn't dealing with any of the blows that had been thrown at her emotionally. She was trying to cover it up; trying to kill every last Giaku wolf until none were left standing. Akeela didn't realize how impossible this task would be, she just kept fighting. When her sister brought this to Akeela's attention, the she-wolf snapped. Her jaws came down upon her sister's face with a clap. Instantly, blood began pouring from her face. Her jaw was ripped open all the way from the corner of her mouth to the outermost corner of her eye. Akeela didn't give her a chance to retaliate, she only came down upon her with twice as much force. It was over in a matter of minutes; the mortal wounds and the poison that laced her blood had inevitably killed her.
Once Akeela had recognized the horrible deed she had done, she panicked. She knew that the Shinkou pack members would lose all respect for her. They would punish her... Kill her, more than likely. Akeela refused to die by the jaws of the wolves she served; she knew she couldn't look them in the face after they had found the crime she had committed. It was time for the last resort, the one she knew would come at some point her lifetime. Leave. She didn't belong with the Shinkou wolves and the body that laid at her paws proved it.
Akeela buried her sister's corpse in the spot where she had died. When she was done, she stood on that grave for what seemed like hours. Her jaded, malachite eyes staring down at the overturned dirt indifferently. Mourning on the inside, cold and unresponsive on the outside. Then, she turned and walked away. Far away from the pack she'd wished she belonged with all her life and into a land where loneliness was to be her only companion.
