Cercius - Male werewolf with an unpleasant split personality disorder.
Graal - Male wolf with a knack for being both protective and kind... To females at least.
Lilliana Kaede - Female Werewolf with a habit of being hot-headed, stressed and to act before she thinks.
Just a quick tip, when I type as Graal, Cercius or Lilliana, it is important to remember that I use different colours to denote different things.
White, Orange, and Yellow Green are speech of Graal, Cercius and Lilliana respectively.
Grey, Turquoise, and Pale Goldenrod are prose of Graal, Cercius and Lilliana respectively. (Prose being normal narrative)
Crimson and Scarlet are special. Crimson is used for Cercius' alternate personality's evil thoughts, while Scarlet is used for Graal's "Painless." mantra.
The colour Brown is utilised when I am using a "temporary" character, usually a deer, or maybe a predator (example being the bear here that is specifically for that thread.
When I type in this colour, it means it is the character's unspoken thoughts, and nobody (with the possible rare exception of Midnight, but she can speak in his head, so it's more her ability than anything else) else can hear those thoughts.

Vulftung, the use of and pronunciation [WIP]:
• History:
Vulftung originates from a moutain range far to the south-west of Shinkou-Ookami, a place that humans call The Forsaken Peaks, where tales of ice giants, dragons, werewolf clans and giant wolves still abound. No wolf is truly sure where the language started, but the oral teachings of the Otonami pack to the north of those forbidden mountains tell a story of their birth to explain its, and their own, existence.
• The Otonami Legend:
In the beginning, there were two wolves, and they were the masters of the world, for Fenris and Tor are gods, you see? Tor loved the land that Fenris had made, for she gazes upon it with her silver eye, day and night, and Fenris loved the stars she had created, and made the mountains to reach up to touch them.
But soon enough, they grew lonely, with only each other to talk to, there was little to say that wasn't already known, and so, they decided to create wolves in their own image, giant wolves with all the power that being god-children granted them, but still, Tor and Fenris grew bored, so they created prey animals for the wolves to hunt and play with, but they could not make enough, for there was nothing that could challenge a wolf, so, again, they created Putnar, hunters, to challenge the wolves in their hunts, to fight and to be killed, and for a time, both wolves and gods were happy.
Nothing lasts forever though, and soon enough, the wolves wanted more.
The gods had given the wolves only one restriction when they were created, they were forbidden from having children, for that was the privilege of the gods alone, but one couple decided they had had enough of being alone, and they were Draegga and Draeppa, whom each male and female are called in honour of these wolves.
The two mated, giving birth to only two pups, but they were happy, and the children gave them great joy.
The other wolves saw this joy and began to mate as well, and the gods grew angry, for they were jealous of the wolves being able to care for their children in the way that Tor and Fenris could not.
For grew sad from her jealousy, and withdrew from the world for a time, and Fenris' fury went unchecked, for he stripped the wolves of their immortality, forever cursing his sons and daughters with age and frailty, but the wolves did not complain, for that sacrifice was worth the happiness their children brought them. Still Fenris' anger was not quenched, and he sent Wolfbane, the dark changer and his favoured son, to cause strife among the wolves, sneaking into their nightmares to turn them against each other, and this caused Draegga and Draeppa great sorrow, for their love was too honest to be corrupted by Wolfbane, but their son and daughter began to bicker and argue, for although both loved their pack with all their heart, Fell, the black pup, wanted to simply be away from the other packs, the fighting and bloodshed and madness of it all, but Larka, the pure White pup wished to help the packs, end the war for good.
"Mother, Father, and dearest brother of mine," she said to them, "I must go to Wolfbane, for his task and purpose is not his will, he tells me in my dreams."
The family was torn, and the firstborn Draegga and Draeppa finally schism and argue, they fought and argued, angry with their daughter and cursing the Changer's duplicity, blaming each other and themselves. But just as Larka decided to leave, they came to a consensus, and Draegga left to gather branches, Draeppa left to gather sap, and on Larka's way to see Wolfbane, they caught her sleeping and trapped her in a cage of wood and amber, refusing to allow Wolfbane to touch her.
Meanwhile, the Changer sat motionless, waiting for Larka for 3 full moons, waiting for her to fulfil her promise to him, and still, she did not come. He howled to the skies in anger and despair, cursing Fenris for calling him into existence.
The Changer took the form of a wolf on two legs, leaving his front paws free to grab, pull and tear, and he was the first true Varg.
Wolfbane searched for Larka, a whole winter to find the one who broke his heart, but in that winter, Draegga and Draeppa perished, and Larka's brother, Fell had been left to hunt for his sister. However, to keep her fed, groomed and healthy, he had neglected himself, and he had grown weak and malnourished. He had tried many times to free her, but his tired body had not the strength to break the cage...
All Wolfbane saw was the black wolf keeping the one he once loved as a prisoner, and it made him angry, hateful.
But all know that hate encourages a cruel intelligence, and so Wolfbane flew down to Fell in the guise of a Rook, throwing insults at the tired hunter for five nights and four days, until the wolf could no longer take it.
Fell lunged at Wolfbane, who changed to a bat, plying past the younger wolf, laughing at his weakness. The Changer wheeled around on a wingtip, biting the wolf with needle fangs, and Fell knew he was lost, for the Changer's fangs are a deadly curse. The wolf ran into the depths of the dark forest, crying out for Fenris' mercy, even knowing that Fenris never, ever shows a weak wolf mercy.
Watching the black wolf with a gleeful smile, Wolfbane turned back to Larka, and began confessing his love to her, how he had never wanted to hurt her, and, in truth, she felt the same for him, for even though all feared and hated the Changer, he was lonely, tired of the destiny Fenris had forged him, and she knew that.
She said to him the words of love that she felt in her heart, but she was trapped in the cage, unable to escape. She felt bitter anger too though, for the Changer had caused her parents' deaths, and the need to rip and tear was roiling in her belly.
Wolfbane quickly took the shape of Man, for all know that Man is the destroyer of all natural creations, and he told her that he would free her, and they would be free, and they would be together forever, and with his words, he took up a stray branch, swinging it down on Larka's prison, shattering amber and wood.
She pounced forth with a cry of vengeance for her brother's doom and bit the Changer.
But Wolfbane had known he would die by her teeth that day, and bared his neck to her, glad do die for her, for he could not disobey his father's destiny any more than he had, and Fenris let out a haunting howl of sorrow and mourning that split the earth for the death of his last living son.
The wolves of the world raised their muzzles in triumph for Larka, howling in celebration.
Except for Larka.
She looked down at her broken love, not having meant to truly kill him, and she let out a cry of sorrow to match Fenris' own, for she had lost all that was dear to her.
Then the moon spoke, the soft voice of Tor whispering in her ears.
"He hasn't left you yet, daughter Vulf. Sup on his Man-flesh and you will be as he was, and he will be with you. You will be as no other has been before."
And so Larka did as Tor suggested, taking the Changer's bitter body into her pure heart, and she felt a change.
She felt taller, her mind was sharper, opening to new possibilities.
She looked at her paws, but they were hands, and she wagged the tail she did not have.
And when she spoke, her words were:
"Ah es Vulfen."
Thus came into this world, the Varg from Wolfbane, the Grasht from Fell and the Vulfen from Larka's children.
• The development and utilisation of Vulftung
Many wolves of the Otonami believe that contrary to their own traditional legends, Vulftung was invented by modern Vulfen only a century or so ago to create a language that the Vulf, Vulfen and Man could all speak in and understand rather than relying on translations that more often than not led to misunderstandings and bloodshed.
With this belief however, comes several criticisms:
The fact that Vulftung is very wide-spread in the west suggests that it has spread with the Vulfen themselves, but from the south, towards the north, with use becoming less common the further from the origin, meaning that werewolves were not born with an inherent knowledge of Vulftung, contradicting the old legends.
Over the years, however, Vulftung has been adapted and changed to the demands of a more modern world, new words being added as humanity creates new inventions, old meanings being swapped for newer concepts, for instance, the word Sikla once meant the weakest in any group, whereas now it means that it is a weak-point, applying to objects and Vulf alike, where it can be said to be a weakling wolf, or a flaw in fortress defenses.
• Naming, calling and singing
With the language of Vulftung comes traditions that many users adhere to:
The naming of children - Most wolf pups are named, not at birth, but shortly after one they show their strongest in-born ability E.g. Graal means "To protect", Bran means "To care", etc.
Some Adolescent wolves announce a change of name to their pack in order to be named after what they wish to be, rather than what they are, whereas a human merely changes to a more human name, rather than using Vulftung.
Calling other wolves in the language of Vulftung is reasonably easy, much like singing is to a human, and much the same in many respects, as the wolf merely howls the words they wish to convey.
