A black she wolf pup lay resting her eyes in the makshift den she and her brother had created to get out of the harsh weather. It wasn't much, but then again it was only temporary. Soon enough they would be wandering the jungles and many flowering fields again. Perhaps this time they could find some place to call home. Amity doubted that however, her brother was far too protective of her, he would never want to settle down in some unknown pack. Sighing lightly she shifted to look outside of the den and placed her head heavily on her small paws.
A pure white wolf pup sat rigid next to the den's opening. The rain had been slowly letting up and now it was only a light misting. He was still as stone, and at first glance you would think he was part of the surrounding boulders. Amasai shook his fur, his ears flickered and he took a sniff of the air. The rain had washed away any means of them being tracked down. Not that they had been followed or even seen. It had been days even weeks since they had seen another wolf soul around these parts. He didn't trust any of them. Narrowing his eyes he glanced around before padding into the den.
"The rain has let up, but it's far too close to midday now, we should rest and be on our way at nightfall." The she wolf snorted lightly in agreement, but she was growing bored, and her tummy had been growling for the past hour or so. "Am, I'm hungry." She grumbled not lifting her head from her paws.
"Ami, you'll just have to hold out a bit longer. Once it grows dark out I will go to find something for the both of us." He said lightly.

It was midday and the air was fresh after the recent storm. There still lingered the heavy scent of rain and droplets could be heard as they fell upon leaves or dripped upon rocks and the earth. Birds twittered as they hopped and flew and the sky seemed still to be clearing of the remaining clouds. It seemed this place was always pretty in some fashion.
She walked through the trees, stepping out into a field where the sun beamed down on the wavering grasses and wildflowers. She was a pretty thing, pale violet with patterns of swirling white across her thick coat. Her build was slender with long graceful features, making her appear somewhat taller than she actually was. She swished her long, feline-like tail behind her and ruffled the feathers of her large wings, tucked against her body. She always enjoyed rain, it made her feel more alive and it seemed to whisper promises of newness to her ears.
She was somewhat of an older wolf, by a normal aging stance that is, though she appeared quite young. For her species, she was. In any case, she continued, enjoying the sounds and scents of the after-rain.
As she moved, she took note of something different in the land and moved closer, curious. It appeared to be a den of sorts, and as she crept closer, she had a feeling someone was inside. Perhaps someone had taken recent shelter from the storm. That made the most sense to her. Well, shouldn't they be coming out now? Or maybe they were asleep and didn't know the storm was over yet. Well, she wasn't the type to bother others unless they needed help... but she had a feeling she should stay. So she got closer, and finally could see the entrance. Someone appeared to be sitting in it.
"Hello," she called out, her voice soft and pretty as it danced toward them.

Amasai's ears pricked as he heard the approach of someone new. He turned his back to his sister and glanced out through the opening. Someone called out hello, they seemed nice enough from the sound of their voice, but Am didn't trust it. He was the protector of his sister now, and he wasn't about to let some strange wolf near her. "Stay here." He grumbled as he moved out of the makeshift den and into the sunlight. The sun bounced off of his snow white coat as his shook it and took a protective stance near the entrance of the den. "Who are you and what do you want?" His eyes narrowed, from what he could take in the wolf was female and she was not from around here... hen again they were not from around her either, so perhaps she could be. Still even if she was a pretty wolf, that meant nothing to him. He wouldn't trust her in the least untill and only if she could prove that she was trustworthy.
Amity lifted her head off of her paws as she heard movement out side of the den. SOmeoen was approaching, as the sing song voice found her ears they twitched. She wounded wonderful! SHe stood in a hurry but as soon backing off as her brother told her to stay put. She was really curious though, but she never doubted her brother before so.. she had no choice but to stay put. Still she inched closer to listen in to the conversation, very intrigued to hear someone else for a change.

Oh! It seemed whoever it was decided to respond. She was glad not to be ignored... not that she had expected it. She was somewhat surprised to see it was a pup, however. Her brows furrowed slightly in concern, her curiosity growing though not a playful curiosity... she wondered why this pup was here, and where his parents were... how she hated to see pups on their own. It just wasn't right.
"Selena is my name," she responded softly. It seemed this little wolf was sure of himself, poised so defensively. But she wondered if it was only a show. She hated to see it, a pup acting like a grown up. Pups should be pups, that's how she saw it anyway. Too much responsibility should never be placed on their small shoulders. "I want nothing in particular, only to know what you're doing here..." She paused, glancing around briefly. She highly doubted whatever had happened had happened here.
"Where are your parents?" she asked, lowering her head slightly.

Amasai stayed where he was, hiding his sister in the den. This wolf semed concerned for him, just the look on her face disgusted him. He didn't want her pity. "It shouldn't be of your concern what I'm doing here." He glared at the she wolf a moment longer before movement was heard behind him. Glancing over his shoulder he sent his now emerging sister a look that told her to return to the den, but she was being stubborn this time. She never acted this way, so why now? Shaking his head he looked back at the she wolf. "Dead.. along with our brothers and sisters."
Amity stood and wandered out of the den, she stood next to her brother, "Amasai, don't be so rude. She seems kind." She said lightly as she sat down next to him. "Nice to meet you Selena, I'm Amity and this is my brother Amasai. Please excuse his rude behavior. He was only protecting me." She gave Selena a small but sad smile. "Our parents died a year or so back, a forest fire consumed the forest we were lving in. Me and my rother were the only two to survive it." She looked away to hide the tears from the newcomer.
Amasai frowned, "Amity, I told you to stay put." Amity looked up at him and frowned, "You were being mean again, why can't you jut let someone help us?" Am huffed, "Don't be silly Am, I'm all you need." He sat down close to his sister and looked to the newcomer, his cold eyes never wavered, he still did not like the female.

Selena couldn't help an ironic thought popping through her mind at this pup's response, the look on his face. It was odd to her that all her life her personality was to help others, to lend a paw, and so far, all she had ever met were wolves who did need help, but refused to accept any. Stubborn, bullheaded, arrogant wolves who thought they had everything all figured out on their own. She had never had the chance to actually help anyone. Which made her feel somewhat helpless, though she supposed she wasn't the type to pressure someone if they didn't want it. In any case, she pushed that thought aside as another pup joined him, ah, his sister. Well it made his behavior make a bit more sense. But they were pups... they shouldn't be all alone like this.
She gave a warm smile toward the female, though it dimmed slightly at her story. "Oh, my, I'm so sorry for such a terrible lost." Her words were completely sincere. She let herself sit back, seeing as she didn't think the pups would try and scamper off anywhere and observed the behavior of the two, particularly around each other and toward her. "Your brother's rudeness as you say is understandable in light of the circumstances, dear," she said, "There is nothing wrong with wanting to protect a loved one, particularly if that is all you have."
She knew a lot about that, from her own past. But that was her own burden.
"Well, it is a pleasure to meet you both." She paused, glancing around briefly. "I wonder if either of you is hungry?" Another pause to see their answer.

Amity sighed, "Yes, but... I still think he shouldn't be so mean. You seem nice Selena. I'm sorta glad there's another being out here." She smiled and nodded, "Right!" She looked around her surroundings and tilted her head. "I..er.. have never hunted before though, actually no.. I have.. but I wasn't well for the rest of the day. I have a weak stomach for blood you see. I only tolerate it becuase I need it to survive." Frowning a bit she looked back to her brother.
Amasai shook his head, "We don't want your pity. I'm very capable of feeding the two of us, as I have ever since that day we lost our siblings and parents. Whether or not you believe me is your choice." He stood up and looked back at his sister. He wanted to wait to hunt until after dark, but with the recent stranger showing up he had o choice but to do so now. His sister had been complaining a few minutes ago that she was hungry. EVen his own stomach seemed to be protesting the lack of food. Though it should be used to the long wait by now.. perhaps it was because he was still a pup, not fuly grown yet. "Ami stay put, I'll be back." With that he bounded off towards one of clumps of trees.

Selena smiled once more at Amity. "Why, thank you, Amity. I think I can understand your feelings... hurting another creature, even for necessity, can be hard when you care so much." She gave a small nod as if confirming her own words. Her ears flicked toward Amasai when he commented he was so capable of feeding himself and his sister. She gave a face as though she were now enlightened. "Well, by all means then! I'm sure you both eat quite heartily on a frequent basis and have no hunger problems whatsoever then." She paused. "Forgive me for ever doubting your young strength." She dipped her head and it seemed he then darted off. Perhaps to prove himself.
She glanced back at Amity once Amasai disappeared. "Say, for one so bent on protecting you, he certainly didn't hesitate to leave you alone with me, now did he?" She shook her head in slight amusement. He was still very much a pup, even if he didn't want to admit it. Her impression was that he felt the pressures of a grown-up, but still had much to learn. Perhaps he felt the need to prove he was grown-up. Perhaps to have his sister look up to him. She wasn't sure exactly, but she did think these two certainly could use a friend. "No worries, Amity. You won't get a single furry hair hurt from me."
She glanced off to where Amasai had gone. "I wonder, Amity, if I should go help him out. What do you think?"
