Twist surveyed the low slung slopes of the Shinkou packlands. As his red eyes traveled over the vibrant green bushes, and squat willows,He noticed something."By the fang, isn't there a wretched berry, or even some good tender hare in this spit of mountain wood!" Snarling,he began slaughtering vegetation with his long, cruel, claws. After his rage abated, Twist began the trek down the mountain, weaving in circles to throw off any of those mangy, homicidal wolves. As Twist was prowling down the mountain, he smelled water. Stopping to admire his reflection in a cool mountain stream, he was cruelly reminded there was nothing to admire.Am I really that bony, bald, and thin? He thought. Then he saw THEM. Red berries, under a barren bush. Twist couldn't help drooling over the soft, fruity fragrance. Tentatively, he swallowed them. They were delicious, but they made twist feel woozy. Why were the trees curving like that, and since when did trees grow in neon rainbow colors? "Thosh berrash mush have been fermenta sinsh befa epoch"! Twist yelped, now beging to slur. The hallucinations were getting worse, birds aren't supposed to be singing "On the road again." are they? And almost instantly, the woods were back to normal, or rather, Twist's head was. But a wolf scent permeated the air, or was it just a trick of the mind?

Mitsuki hated hunting in this part of Shinkou. There was hardly any prey and never any edible berries in sight. But she hadn't been here for quite some time and hoped that perhaps it had changed for the better. She was wrong. It seemed it had even gotten worse, even most of the non-edible berries were gone. Mitsuki sighed, she was hungry and thirsty. She had been out since the crack of dawn and it was nearly halfway through the day.
Mitsuki gave up her search for prey and settled for water. Even though she didn't come to this part of the territory very often, she still knew the land well. Mitsuki walked for a few minutes before she could smell the water. But another scent came with it. A hellhound. She had never seen one in person, but had learned from other wolves that they were truly from hell. Despite what they said, Mitsuki was curious and couldn't resist to see it for herself.
Mitsuki could see the stream from the shadows where she hid. Mitsuki didn't see the hellhound at first, but once she looked upstream a couple of paces she could just make out a figure. The scent was much stronger now so Mitsuki was sure that the figure was the hellound. She stuck to the shadows and made her way closer to the hellhound. He was now on this side of the stream and seemed to be eating some berries. She was surprised that there were any edible berries anywhere around here. But only a second after he ate them he seemed to sway back and forth.
As she got closer she recognized the scent of the berries. They were what wolves called Nightshade. If a pup or elder were to eat it they could possibly die. Without thinking, Mitsuki rushed over to the hellhound to see how bad the effect was on him. When she landed on the other side of the river, the effect seemed to have worn off. Mitsuki froze in front of him, not sure what he would do. "Are y-you ok-kay? Y-you just ate N-nightshade." She took a small step towards him to get a better look. His pupils weren't dialated and he didn't seem to sway anymore. Perhaps hellhounds had a stronger immune system. Or maybe this hellhound has magic that prevents him from the effects of such berries.
Mitsuki waited for a reply, making sure the right side of her face was towards the hellhound. She was wary of him, but felt no threat from him. the more time she stood by him, the more she doubted the wolves. Perhaps they were wrong and hellhounds were only misunderstood.

He had been right. The scent of wolf was indubitably present. Even more so confusing was that the wolf seemed genuinely concerned for his well being. She examined his eyes.If what she said was true, that he had eaten nightshade, fermented nightshade, he was going to be in for a heck of a night. Although nightshade isn't lethal to hellhounds, it is a short lived hallucinogenic, and a unbearable headache inducer. He cursed his foolishness, the first place he should checked when he came here was the other side of the stream. Twist knew the kindness was a front, a mere excuse to examine the adversary, him.
Twist's internal assessment was abruptly stopped when he remembered a wolf, a real wolf was next to him, wearing a wary, yet genuinely concerned expression. Sighing, he said." If your going to kill me, get on with it, I know wolves despise ARRRGGGOOO!" He howled, wrenched from his sentence by a dagger of pain in between his maroon eyes. Eyes unfocused, he looked up, the wolf beside him fading into the oblivion of his pain mind. The fuzzy outlines of the short trees blurred to nothing.
Why am I not running, snarling, trying to save my own pelt? Twist wondered. His first concern had always been himself, and yet here he was, enjoying the company of a wolf in this nightshade induced, pain wracked state. And a wolf seemed concerned about him, of all things. Someone caring if he lived, or died was a very new experience. Twist's mind came back to his body at this point, and very randomly, he blinked at the wolf, presumably female, twice, and passed out into the warm depths of oblivion. His last thought before the darkness was that he had never experienced compassion.

Mitsuki gasped at the thought of killing him, but put the thought aside when the hellhound yelped in pain. "Are you alright?" Mitsuki guessed that he hadn't heard her since he was now unconscious. She began to panic. She couldn't let this hellhound die from the poisonous plant. "What was the antidote? Silverweed, Meadow Sage,... and what else?" Mitsuki closed her eyes, thinking back to when she learned about plants. Oh, right, Coneflower. She sighed and went in search of the ingredients.
It didn't take long for her to find what she needed, but she doubted the hellhound would take anything from her. So she decided to hunt, for anything really. She would mix the plants together then stuff them inside whatever she caught, and if he asks about the smell, she found it a patch of plants. Mitsuki sighed, it would take too long to find any prey. And if she finally did catch something it might be too late. Before Mitsuki gave up, she caught the scent of prey. A squirrel to be exact. She looked up ahead and noticed the squirrel sitting on a rock. It was almost as if it wanted to be caught.
Mitsuki made her way back to the hellhound and plopped the squirrel down in front of him. She waited patiently for him to wake, trying not to disturb him as he slept away the day.
It was now dark out. All signs of the day were gone and the sun had been replaced by the moon. Mitsuki now feared that the hellhound would never wake and she would never get a chance to know if hellhounds are as bad as the wolves said. She yawned, having been up since the crack of dawn. Mitsuki fought to keep her eyes open, but soon found herself asleep.[/size]
By the way, all the plants I named are not an antidote, I just gathered some medicinal plant names. But I did look for plants that were the antidote, but there are only scientific antidotes. Hope you don't mind :/

Twist woke as the full moon soared above the trees. He noticed the fat squirrel in front of him, however, he knew it was full of herbs due to it's dark, bitter smell. As he had suspected, the rodent had herbs rammed down it's throat. Twist eyed it. He had already recovered from the nightshade, and unnecessary herbs would just make him sick again. He looked back at the wolf, she was small, snow white, and rather vulnerable looking. Twist sighed, he supposed he could protect the wolf to who knows where. He had a code of honor, mostly to show he was smart enough to. If he made friends with this wolf, he would have the danger of being killed by wolves taken off of the dangers of life list. Though hellhounds are nocturnal by nature, Twist was beginning to nod off. He leaped onto a low branch of a pine, curled up, and slept. The squirrel went uneaten, but the herbs had been removed from it.
Since he recovered from the nightshade naturally, you can just pretend Mitsuki made a mistake.

Mitsuki woke as the sun shined down on her through the trees. The hellhound was gone but the squirrel still lay where she had dropped it in front of the hellhound. Mitsuki got up and stretched out her legs. She walked over to the squirrel to see if the hellhound had even taken a nibble of the meat. He hadn't. The only thing gone was the herbs. Had he eaten them? Or just discarded them so she would think he ate them?
Mitsuki sighed. it was out of her hands now since he was gone. As Mitsuki began to head back to the den, the hellhounds scent filled her nose. He was close. Mitsuki looked all around her, but didn't see him. Finally, she looked up, and there he was, laying on the branch of a tree.
Mitsuki wanted to make sure the hellhound was recovered from the nightshade, but she didn't want to wake hi. She decided to wait at the base of the tree until he woke.
Ok, she doesn't know anything about hellhounds so it would make sense for her to make that mistake.

Twist opened one eye, he could here the she wolf stirring from her sleep. He watched with a curious glance as she looked at the squirrel, the around, the at him in the tree. As she was looking elsewhere, Twist leaped down from the tree, and onto the ground. Stretching, he sniffed the air. Nothing after him. Turning to the wolf, he tried to position his tail at a friendly angle. After a few tries, Twist maneged to smooth his snarling voice into a thickly accented baritone. "So, what's your name, miss?" Twist tried to smile in a friendly way. Was that a cringe, Twist thought to himself? By the fang, why must wolves have such strange ways to show friendliness? Shaking off these thoughts, added. "This place is a bit short on, well, everything except air! Mind if I tag along if your going anywhere?" Smiling again. Then again, showing my teeth to a wolf might not be to smart, considering he had twice as many as her, and their razor sharp. Twist realized how awkward the situation was getting, hastily he made a excuse to get away. "I'll go hunt, tree rat's all yourrss." Twist's panic was causing him to drop back into the snarls of his kind. Rushing away from the clearing, was cursing himself all the way. He maneged to catch a weak, sick bird under a tree, three chipmunks in a log, and was walking back towards the clearing. He resolved to let that wolf teach him to speak her language. Stopping along the way, he drank out of a stream. Then he began walking, feeling like a cloud of hot air had been stripped from him. Sighing at the prospect of another attempt to communicate, he trudged back. Think of the benefits Twist, your hairless hide needs all the help it can get. Strange, thought Twist, it took less then a day for me to stop thinking of that wolf as a foe, as he walked into the glade, the wolf still there. Dropping the bird and two chipmunks at her paws, he sat on his haunches, nibbling on his chipmunk, slowly.

Mitsuki could tell that the hellhounds awkward movements were supposed to be friendly, but they seemed forced, like he had never shown such emotion to anybody. Perhaps he had never had a friend before. He must be lonely. Mitsuki stopped her mind pity when he spoke again. He said he was going to hunt, but she wasn't sure since he snarled. Confused how to react, Mitsuki stayed where she was. She knew what she heard was right when the hellhound came back with two chipmunks and a frail bird in his jaws. He dropped them before her paws and took a chipmunk for himself and began to nibble. Mitsuki wasn't hungry, despite that she hadn't eaten in two days, but she was excited to see a hellhound with her own eyes. She took a chipmunk and began to nibble as well.
"Mitsuki, my name is Mitsuki," she finally answered when they had finished pretending to eat. She had hardly touched hers, but thought it would be rude of her to decline food offered to her. "What is yours, if you don't mind me asking?" Its weird, Mitsuki thought. She was having a normal conversation with a creature the wolves hated. But why did they hate hellhounds? They didn't seem all bad, at least not this one. This hellhound just seemed, misunderstood.

The wolf finally broke the silence. She said her name was Mitsuki, what a mouthful. When she asked his name, he simply said. "Twist." He went back to nibbling his chipmunk, not that there was anything left, Twist was just avoiding the wolf's gaze. "So, like I said before, if your going anywhere, can I come with?" Twist tried another smile, and it looked, and felt less forced than the first one. He felt that he should be really feeling these emotions, rather than faking them, but then he rammed that feeling into a mental cliff. Trying for his best pitiful pup look (hard to pull off with glowing red eyes) Twist said. "I've never have fit in." He lowered his head, and drooped his tail for effect. "So, can I get you another bird, or are you full?"
Twist realized he was making a fool of himself and abruptly stopped, moving carefully moving closer, but just enough to look friendly. He the said, suddenly feeling flustered. "I'm taking a walk to stretch my legs, I know a mineral spring a little bit away from here, if you want to come, you can." Almost the second Twist said that he clamped his snout shut. That was not what he meant t to say! Quickly stepping out of the clearing, he was about run away to take his anger out on a tree, when he heard a rustling behind him.
