A crescent moon graced the navy space speckled with gaseous, heavenly light. But such light could not make it through the thick clump of branches intertwining together like bizarre highways. Small light did leak through, the only source of light eerily spotlighting the forest floor. Some observing animals might see a pair of glowing yellow eyes seemingly floating through shadows. A lone beast roamed hither and thither in the night, deviating away from earthly noises of crickets and owls. A couple of bats squeaked faintly in the upper canopy, making the creature jerk back look upward, apparently spooked by their sudden flighty appearances.
Night came too swiftly that day. Nahimana could not remember much of the events of morning and midday. They must not have been too important to her. But her days were starting to go by too fast, and blur together. She contemplated quitting her job, but then what else would she do? She truly loved what she did, but no one else seemed to have shared her passion. After all, there were wolves in this pack known to having healing abilities, and they were called upon to do all the healing work on other injured wolves. But some couldn't heal illnesses of other wolves. At least Nahi knew certain remedies to ease most illnesses. She could not quit. Not when others needed her.
The bit of moonlight permeating through the trees were not the only source of light here. Nahi could see with her good eye that there were mushrooms here. They were glowing, and issuing a strong light in the vicinity.
When she stepped into the light, the very breath was taken away from her. It was a beautiful opening in the forest, with thick moss covering the ground. Mushrooms of all shapes and sizes were gathered together on the bases of trees, rocks, and other areas. She had seen these shrooms once before; she can recognize the markings on them, but she was not sure if they were edible. She had never even seen them glow before! Mystified, she gathered a clump of shrooms clumsily into her paws, and put them in a corner to take home later. She'll have to do a test run to see how they effect the body if eaten. If it can cure really hefty illnesses, her business might be booming again. She hoped to the god Manu that it was not a shroom of death.
