Name: Yershí (pronounced Yair´ shee)
Gender: Female
Race: Wolf
Sub-Race: Shape-shifter
Breed: Maned wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus)
Pack: N/A
Rank: N/A
Appearance: Yershí is average in both size and height, a normal wolf by any standards. Her pelt is predominantly navy blue, with sky blue fur on her chest and between her forelegs, over a whole leg, and around her face. The fur from her mane actually flows over her forehead, passing just over her eyes. While this is an obvious irritation to her on occasion, she makes little, if any, effort to change it. The eyes covered by these strands of sky blue hair are a soft, beautiful pink, and she considers them to be her most attractive feature. Aside from being a distinctive color, her eyes are quite wide, giving her a permanent surprised or eager look.
Personality: Yershí is best described as easygoing. She worries very little, even about such important things as finding food and shelter. This nature fuels her rather random quips, given to those around her regardless of the present conversation or whether or not they would care. But beneath this surface of easy laughs and benign near-insanity, she is a hopeless romantic. She believes firmly in love in its purest forms, despite the fact that her mate, Mál'skra, is the polar opposite of an impassioned lover. Adding to this, she is somewhat naive with regards to power and what it can to do even the most just individual. She also possess a strong mothering nature, which might explain her unflinching care for the distant Mál'skra. She has yet to mention a desire for pups to him, but it is one of her oldest and greatest dreams.
Magic: Yershí, being a shape shifter, has this power at her disposal, but she is completely unaware of it, nor does she have any inkling of the sort of spell required to use shape shifting magic. However, she was also born with ice magic, and has honed this mostly for survival and under the strict tutelage of her late mother.
Spells: Cold Ward- this was one of the first spells Yershí's mother taught her. It is a simple, but effective survival technique. The spell can either be used to shield one from cold or draw it in to cool off. It also has a significant range, affecting at least a three wolf length radius. Mál'skra has tried to teach her how to use it as a fighting technique, but she is averse to this, as she has other ice spells for that purpose.
Chill Bite- Again, Yershí learned this spell from her mother. It is solely for combat, and like all the spells Yershí learned from her mother, it does not directly use ice. This attack is straightforward, but lethal. When biting, Yershí can use this spell to effectively flash freeze the area, making it brittle and fragile. This is a spell of both skill and opportunity.
Ice Cage- This spell, Yershí taught herself. Though she initially developed it as a defensive measure, it has proven incredibly useful as an offensive strike against multiple foes. The concentration and energy required for its use is high, but the damage it can inflict more than makes up for these requirements. When used the spell forms a cage of spiked ice around Yershí, and once formed, Yershí can control the barbed spears to act as underlings.
Hail- Yershí could really come up with no better name for this spell that she uses for both hunting and fighting. She cannot literally make it hail, but when it is raining, she can freeze and fling individual drops of water. This is a silent and sneaky attack, and one that takes little effort either mentally or physically. It is the most suited of her spells for her unique personality.
Ice Mirror- This is a work in progress for under the instruction of her mate. Yershí hopes to be able to use it in their pursuit of the Light spirit, a perfect counter to its powers, though, so far, neither of them have imagined a broader use for it.
Skills: Yershí has no continual outward skills so to speak. However, while not herbally savvy, she is blessed with copious amounts of common sense that aid her when her fellows are injured. She also has a high level of emotional tolerance, easily able to cope with hate and death.
Biography: Yershí has always known life as a wandering loner. This was the life she was born into, the lone pup to survive in a litter of three. The rigorous trekking their mother put them through the moment they could walk killed her siblings, though she only barely remembers this. After her siblings' deaths, Yershí and her mother ambled from cave to cave, never a real goal in sight. Yershí feared her mother, as she was a brutal teacher and taskmaster, and thus never asked her where they were going or why. She had only just reached maturity when her mother nearly killed her.
At night, during a blizzard, her mother instructed her to go out and hunt, using her Cold Ward spell to protect herself. This she did, but was unable to find food and became lost in the blinding white out. She only survived because her Cold Ward spell remained active even while she was unconscious. When morning came and she was verbally abused for her failure, Yershí vowed to end her mother's life to save herself. Poisonous leaves wrapped among that night's catch easily killed her, and Yershí was then allowed to live as she thought fit.
For several nights, she did as she always had done, haunted by the murder she had committed, but eventually reconciled herself to the inevitably reality of it. If Yershí had not killed her mother then, she would have killed herself from exhaustion. Thereafter, Yershí moved toward the Fire Wells, knowing it was a fringe territory and the groups there would be more welcoming to outsiders.
She met Mál'skra by accidentally interrupting his chase of the Light spirit, crashing into him after coming into a clearing. At first, he was furious, demanding she help him until he felt her mistake had been repaid, but slowly they grew attached to one another and stayed together. In her current life, Yershí hopes to live to old age, raising pups properly, and gladly forgetting her past.
