The night was at its peak, with the moon full and at its highest point. Pale light filtered downward on the land below, a certain serenity over the water of Kami Lake and causing the creek water to glimmer. There were various noises of insects and birds, the chirp of a cricket or the call of some creature hidden in the trees beside the bank. She could often be found in settings such as this, staring off into the distance. This blue wolfess seemed to blend in with the shadows of her surroundings, and yet somehow stand out with silver swirls mixed upon vivid periwinkle fluff. White eyes made it hard to tell the exact direction she was gazing into, and long horns pointing toward the heavens rested on her brow. She sat at the very edge of the water, large paws almost touching.
She was mostly still, save for the in and out of her chest as she breathed and the every so often blink of her eyes. It was not often others came around this time of day, but one never knows... for this land was certainly full of many different beings.

Akralara gave a quiet sigh as she looked out over the lake, watching the moon's reflection waver and dance on the water's surface. It had been scarcely a week since she'd arrived in these lands, after nearly three months of island-hopping across a great ocean, and already she was hunted by what had to be every human in the area. She was just turning to leave, to head back into the swamps that offered her some form of refuge from the humans and their scent-hounds, when a glimmer on the far bank caught her eye. A growl rumbled up from deep in her chest, barbed quills rising out of her mottled grey-brown fur as she fixed her cat-like eyes on the shimmer of reflected moonlight. It was too far off to tell what it was, but she was certain only human-made things shone like that. That meant a human was there, a hunter; only they would venture this deep into the wetlands. If they had tracked her this far... This one could not be allowed to return to tell the others. In a sudden blur she took off across the lake, running on the water as if it were solid ground, moving at impossible speeds towards the glint.

All was peaceful. Or at least... it was. Suddenly, she noticed a blur moving across the water at an impossible speed. It was headed right for her! At that speed, she would probably be pummeled. She didn't have enough time to reveal her wings and take flight, so instinctively, a wall of ice formed before her, and she was thankful to be so near the lake. The wall was thick, though not excessively tall, mostly made to absorb the impact of whatever it was coming toward her. Akralara, if she did directly hit the wall, might find herself stunned for a moment, and that the wall would shatter, millions of shards sprinkling downward... that is unless Zekarta used them for some other purpose afterward. She stepped back, her position defensive, and waited for whatever the hell this thing was. Paws dug into the earth slightly, head lowered. She was ready for whatever next attacks... or defensive magic, she may have to use next.
OoC: So I read Akralara's profile after posting but I figured that even though the wall was made by magic, its finished product is still a physical object that is as hard as if it were brick or any other solid material. So I guess I was thinking that wouldn't be the same as a fire wall which could, in fact, be passed through, as flame, though hot, is not solid xD let me know if that's not the case...

With a horrid, grating scream, Akralara jumped, landing on top of the ice wall with her quills flared and her fangs extended. She was nearly a foot taller than Zekarta, her body fifteen feet from nose to rump with another fifteen feet of tail. Her open jaws displayed double rows of shark-like teeth, along with the nine-inch snake fangs, and her six sets of talons dug into the ice as if it were soft wood. The terrifying display abruptly dropped when she saw that the being was not, in fact, a human, her face going from enraged to perplexed. "What in Fate's name are you?

OoC: Wow! I laughed so hard when I read Akralara's response XDDDD
iC:
Zekarta had to admit that she was somewhat shocked by the creature which suddenly leaped atop her wall. The sight was certainly not an every-day experience, particularly with the rows of teeth within it's mouth, although that wasn't to say Zekarta was suddenly stricken with fear. She had seen many creatures from the towering 8-10' Druins to the even larger dragons which ever so occasionally came across those like her. Furthermore, having a death god for a familiar made death not quite so scary. Still, her length was quite impressive. It could be said that that shock appeared briefly on her face, even if her fur remained raised, but then the creature's face changed and spoke.
The voice was feminine, and the words which came from her mouth were almost more shocking than her appearance! She raised her head slightly, somewhat losing her aggressive stance though still slightly on-guard. "Thou asketh me? I might ask thee the same." She paused, stepping back a bit in case Akralara decided to leap down from atop the wall. "Mine heritage is a mixture, of Moondog, demon, and Druin... and what art thou?" she asked, quite curious indeed.

"I do not know what I am. I have been called demon, monster, abomination, mage-killer... The list is a long one." As she spoke, she walked down from the ice wall, traversing the slipery vertical surface as if it were level ground before steping onto the lake-shore. "To the humans who hunt me, and those who would dare help them, I am death incarnate. The one who named me called me Akralara Fe Nariesion."

The white-specked blue wolfess took in the words spoken, and simultaneously observed the way the other walked down the wall with ease. Truly unique and remarkable, she had to admit. As Akralara described the names she had been called, Zekarta's mind traced through her memories, of all that she had seen and heard through all her many travels. She had only ever heard of mutants, though had never, at least till now, encountered one. The possibility crossed her mind. Clearly, this creature did not know for certain, therefore it was not something she herself would pose as a question. Perhaps soon she may bring it up as a possibility, a title which this one could call herself if ever asked in the future.
"Akralara Fe Nariesion", the creature said. "Then I shalt call thee Akralara, if thou doth not mind. And a pleasure to meet thee... perhaps." Zekarta decided to be polite. After all it was only in mistake that this Akralara had approached her with hostility. Besides, she had never been the aggressor in her family. That was Tekkatta's duty.
"Having given thy name, I suppose I might grace you with mine own, Zekarta." Her name was simple, but pretty in its own right nonetheless. "If such is not too much to inquire, I'm curious as to why the one who gaveth thee thy name did not also inform thee of thy race?" She was only curious, as the way Akralara spoke indicated no affection whatsoever - cluing in further perhaps to the truth that she was in fact a mutant. ((This statement is assuming that Akralara in fact doesn't say the words with a hint of affection XD)) Only time would tell.

"I have no race." Akralara repeated, her quills rustling softly. "My form likens as much to a basilisk or a dragon as it does to a wolf, and none have my abilities. If you can tell me what I am, it will be more than anyone else has been able to do.

Zekarta noted the way the other seemed to avoid her question. Or perhaps ignore it. She didn't press the issue. Instead, she noted the way the question had somehow been turned on her now. Ah, this being was rather clever. "My guess would only be mere theory, though mine eyes haveth seen much through all my travels." She paused, finally allowing herself to relax moreso than before, and sat back on her haunches, though still keeping her posture upright. She doubted very much at this point that this creature would attack her. "I believeth thou to be a mutant of sorts - based on what thou hast given me." Information, wise, of course.
