Wandering Again {OPEN}

Duskfire knew the land. Of course she did! She was a Reku; she had to know it. Otherwise she would get lost. That made sense, right?

That didn't stop her from wandering somewhat aimlessly on her free time. She liked to relax sometimes, though she never really came to a stop unless she was sleeping. She hummed to herself as she walked rather gracefully along the beach. The beach itself would be nicer if only there were less sea gulls. At least that gave her something to chase, if nothing else.

"It is a nice day, though." she said to herself.

Chihiro was not a very observant wolf. If she was paying attention, she would have realised she was patrolling Akeru, not Shinkou. But alas, Chihiro wasn't and walked straight into the packlands of Akeru without a second thought. It wasn't like anyone would attack her but Akeru had plenty of other Reku to scout the area. Shinkou perhaps needed her more. Yet Chihiro ploughed through the lands, looking for any intruder to interrogate and then scare away. Of course, she didn't find anything of the sort. Instead, Chihiro saw a black wolf with wings and patches of red in various places.

Her instincts kicked in. This wolf was an intruder. Chihiro stalked up to the wolf, her eyes narrowed. Once again, she was being very unobservant. If she had just taken the time to sniff, she would have realised that this wolf was a fellow pack member, not an intruder. But silly little Chihiro went up to the wolf and barked, "Hey, you! What are you doing here?" Perhaps, the wolf would be caring, and answer kindly instead of lashing out because of Chihiro's stupidity. Yet, it was Chihiro's own fault for not looking where she was going. Ah well. She would learn once again.

At the sudden noise behind her, Duskfire jumped, the downy feathers on her wings standing up like a startled cat's tail. She whipped around, baring her teeth for a moment before seeing the unique and lovely young wolf that was confronting her. Duskfire stopped showing her teeth and cleared her throat uncomfortably.

"Sorry, but... who are you? I'm Duskfire, a Reku for the Akeru Pack. If you don't mind my asking, what are you doing here?

One of her ears drooped to the side as she tilted her head. Who was this slender thing? Duskfire hoped she wasn't a threat. She really didn't feel like a fight on such a nice day.

Chihiro quietened her growl when the female spoke. Once she finished speaking, Chihiro immediatly stopped and stared at the female in shock. She had growled at a fellow friend. Oh the shame! Chihiro bowed her head in embarressment then lifted it up, revealing a look of apology.
"I am every so sorry, Miss Duskfire. I thought you were an intruder." Chihiro looked around and a look of realisation filled her face. "Ah, I was in Akeru." She turned to face Duskfire and gave a slight bow of the head, "My name is Chihiro. I am also a Reku but for Shinkou. It seems I have made a wrong turning." Chihiro glanced at the surroundings and made another mental note to remember the trees in the distance. Yet, sooner or later, she would forget and return to square one and end up in a similar situation, though with a different wolf.

Age tilted her head to the opposite side when the little wolf hung her head. The look on her face when she looked back up made Duskfire feel a little bad. She had never been mistaken for an intruder before. Not even on the rare occasion that she ventured into Shinkou lands. Then a lightbulb seemed to turn on over her aquantaince's head. A proper introduction followed.

"Well met, Chihiro. Don't worry about mistaking me for an intruder," she laughed, "We are mortals, after all, prone to mistakes and all that. You're welcome to stay for a bit and rest if you'd like. I'm not doing anything at the moment."

She sat down and folded her wings, flicking her tail so that it wrapped delicately around her hind leg. Nice to have someone to talk to.
