It was night. Stars shone in the velvety indigo sky above, and a waxing crescent moon hung overhead. In the pale, almost nonexistent light, a slender mascul trotted across the plain.
He was a grey fox, and the dim light from the moon and stars caught the silver of his pelt, giving him an ethereal glow. Chest and tailtip were white, outlined with a cinnamon colour. Eyes were of pale lavender, the pupils enlarged so as to take full advantage of the light.
A lone rabbit scurried across his path. It was small, and a bit scrawny, but it would do. Knowing that it was completely useless to chase after the swift animal, he slowly slunk through the tall grass, keeping his eyes on his prey. It paused for a moment, pink nose twitching as it scented the air. Fortunately, the breeze was such that the fox's scent was not carried to it. Satisfied that there was no threat, it lowered its brown-furred head to feed upon the grass.
It was at that moment that Feral sprang. He had been sneaking up behind it for some time, and quickly siezed this opportunity to attack. Slender jaws closed around the unfortunate creature's neck, and held the struggling animal firmly until it finally stopped moving.

There was another wolf, a femme, and she delicately yet playfully trotted along. She looked up at the night air, smiling at the twinkling stars above her. Her eyes came to the moon and she let out a tiny howl, something she had always enjoyed doing. It lasted for only a couple seconds, then died, and she laughed slightly.
She was a brown wolfess, with almost aubern-orange orbs that playfully danced about. She had a rounded head and regular ears with a long and slender maw. Her neck was also rather long, though quite bushy, and her back long, and round. Her shoulders and thighs were muscular, though not bulky like those of a male. Her limbs were long and her paws medium, and when she might run, she would not be the most graceful wolf, but she had a happy heart, and she didn't run all that bad either. Her tail was long and rather bushy.
Katarina was enjoying the night, and herself as she playfully trotted along. After a moment, she saw the form of a grey fox in the distance. She smiled, letting out a happy bark and another howl, this one lasting longer and a bit louder as well. She then broke into a run, heading towards him, yipping and wagging her tail in delight.

The wolfess's soft howl reached Feral's ears, and he raised his head from the rabbit's body, ears pricked in the direction of the sound. Slender muzzle was raised, scenting the air, and he soon caught the scent of his friend, Katarina.
He turned to face her, a slight smile crossing his face as she headed towards him.

Katarina raced to meet him, skidding to hault beside him, happily wagging her tail. Her tongue was lulling with her short panting breaths, but a happy smile was on her face.
"Hi, what are ya up to?" she asked, trotting playfully about him. She caught sight of the rabbit and shrugged, for she would not ask for his kill. Afterall, she had only just eaten a large squirrel herself.
"It's nice tonight," she said, looking up at the stars, her aubern-orange eyes twinkling as if they were one of the many little white spots that speckled the night sky. She looked at him, cocking her head in question, her ears perked in delight.

Feral's shoulders moved in an indifferent shrug. "Oh, not much," he said, lowering his head once more to take a bite of the rabbit. "Just hunting."
Head now was raised to look at the sky, lavender eyes gleaming palely. "Yes, it is nice out," he said. Indeed, the coolness of the night was a welcome relief from the day's burning heat.

"Oh, yeah, it appeared so. I already ate," she said with a smile, sitting down and wagging her tail. She was in her usual perky and happy mood, even if her legs felt tired and her sides heaved from her panting. "Though, I only ate this one squirrel. After that rabbit, if you are still hungry, I guess we could go hunting for more," she said with a shrug.
She quickly came distrated chasing insects as they flew about before her. She playfully jumped and pawed at them, giggling with play as she did so. She went in circles and all over the place, dancing about and wagging her tail.

"Oh, it doesn't take much to fill me up," he said, with a shake of his head. He watched Katarina chase the insects with some amusement, then lightly trapped a firefly under one forepaw.

Katarina heard his words, smiling at him with a nod, "Okay then," she said with a laugh, beginning to nip about.
After a moment, she trotted up and sat down in front of him, giving a smile, her cheeks seeming to gain a glow. She laughed, for the fireflies contained in her mouth were tickling her. Though, she still kept them in, trying not to swallow them.

They're supposed to be good luck," Feral said, glancing at the firefly under his paw.

She nodded, wishing she had something to put all the little guys that were buzzing about in her mouth in. She looked at him curiously, not really being able to talk. She sighed, and opened her mouth, letting the little fellows out. She could always catch more, she thought.
"Really? I never knew that. I always liked them because they light up and make my mouth glow," she said with a grin, wagging her tail. She looked around, and then began to chase them again, though this time, she caught them gently under her paws so as not to sqaush them. "Yeah, I caught three," she said alowed, looking down at them with a smile.

The small fox lifted his paw, allowing the firefly to fly away. "Yeah, they are." His brow furrowed in thought, and he said "I don't remember who told me that, though."

She giggled and let the three she had caught go, watching them fly off and seemingly disappear, as their lights dimmed. She smiled and then trotted back over to sit by Feral. She nipped playfully at a butterfly that passed in front of her maw, and then gently blew at it, giving a playful laugh afterwards. She looked at Feral, "You know, I find it quite amuzing sometimes, at how I love to goof and play around, while you simply sit and watch," she said with a wide smile.

She grinned, "Yes, I know. What's amuzing, is that you never join in, but simply watch. I don't mind, but I guess I just don't really understand," she said with a grin, wagging her tail.

"I guess I'm just not that playful," Feral said with a shrug.
